  1. I could stand corrected......Maybe just maybe (hopeful) they posted all this rubbish to show how idiotic this whole process is. By that I mean, make a huge change to satisfy the few.

  2. The hypocrisy of UND is amazing. Cannot mention the name Fighting Sioux anywhere on its website but yet publish the most vulgar and offensive language anyone has ever laid their eyes on. Geez.

  3. It appears that our friends in Minnesota would like to see "Canadians" as the new nickname...

It's just their little feeble way of acknowledging that Canadian hockey is better than Minnesota hockey. Oh, and it is.

  4. Boston seemed to have received those breaks throughout the tournament. Some teams seem to always get more of those than others, and the "missed calls both ways" argument doesn't fly when it comes to those teams

I would offer that in the UND game the too many man on the ice (via BU line changes was a VERY, VERY glaring overlook). The referees could have called that at least a half dozen times....if not more. IMHO.

  5. Hak is class act period. The Sioux for the most part dominated this game and they were prepared. The absence of Zane, innumerable blown calls, from the the Poolman penalty, to the knee on knee contact that should have been a fiver, to the thrash of Pattyn's throat. The biggest issue i had was this though: the refs could have easily called the Terriers for too many men on the ice at least a half a dozen times if not more. I don't know how many times the Sioux were on a rush coming up the ice when a Terrier player was changing at least 30-35 feet from the bench and the player replacing him was jumping up in the play to disrupt the ensuing Sioux rush. I was going bonkers!!!

  6. It surprises me how well he's doing in college and how horribly he played in the World Juniors.  Usually it's the opposite where a player is kept more bottled up in college (since they don't call interference as much) but in international play they do great.  Parise was that way, for sure.

I just love how people say "he played bad". It may, just might have something to do with who they were playing. Eichel is a princess.

  7. Toews is better than everyone you just mentioned.

Agreed. IMHO one of the top 5 players of all time if you consider on the ice/off the ice behavior and leadership. No question in my mind. Toews is the epitome of how a pro sports athlete should conduct themselves in all aspects of life.

  8. But again....the initial poster was talking about as an NHL prospect.   I don't think anyone, including the Hawks, thought Toews would turn out to be the type of player he has become, or achieved the results he has to date.  Otherwise he would have went #1 in a second.

I agree.....hard to look into the future like that. Again, the chances are incredibly thin that either one of them becomes like Superman in Chicago. That being said, Toews at that age was already a legend on the world stage.

  9. Higher than Toews level? ????  unlikely...although he is an outstanding player

not to be a jerk, but you do realize that Jonathan Toews is arguably the best 2-way center in the world and arguably the best leader in hockey since Yzerman and Moose

Arguably? There is no question about it. Not even an inkling. Not even Crosby is a member of the The Round Table...Toews is. I'm sorry but Eichel to me, needs to be much, much grittier in the corners. Mattews I don't know as i have not seen him play. the best part about Toews is not even the hockey.......its his superman status as the best captain in any pro sport there is that has come along in at least 20 years.....especially displaying that kind of maturity at such a young age. A long, long way to go for either of these two kids to reach Toews' level. i would bet against it.

  10. How SAB did not get any consideration for player of the year or at the very least defensive player of the year is beyond me. Correct that.....she probably did get some consideration for maybe a minute or two. I would think she should get some consideration for the women's national team?.....I mean the best goalie in the best women's college hockey conference in the world.

  11. One more time just so we're clear on what might be construed as being in bad taste vs being OK...

Love your post. Lets be clear here, the NCAA could care less about college hockey let alone college hockey in North Dakota where the NCAA was on warpath to set an example to UND. They would die without college football and basketball. That being said, in about 5 years the NCAA is going to be gone anyway because of the new autonomy rule......and thank God for that. The most corrupt organization this side of the current administration in Washington.

  12. Probably Geno. Of course, UConn women's basketball draws more than most men's programs AND he's been wildly successful. I'm just guessing that if he went on a sub-par run like Miller has, and only drew 1000 fans per game, UConn wouldn't be quite so willing to pay him seven figures.

I'm still baffled how a school like UMD ever got to a point where it was paying its women's hockey coach far more than Minnesota or Wisconsin.

Believe me, when the facts come out, it won't be just about her salary.
