  1. Mr. Noah was not only a great player, a great ambassador of the game and to UND, but even more importantly he was a great father, husband, grandfather and an inspiration to a generation of kids on how to play the game and at the same time having fun playing hockey.

  2. After reading the article in the Herald it is once again apparent that the liberals are whining, er, i mean winning out again. The administrators, professors, don't want "North Dakota" but the committee members who are involved with running an everyday business are being thrown aside. Good Lord, even the name of our state is offensive to these folks. The committee was stacked so that no way could the people get what they wanted. This is eerily familiar to the Standing Rock vote...... or lack there of....the people weren't allowed to!!! A vote means absolutely nothing anymore. Amazing.

  4. Jonathan Toews is going to go down as one of the greatest all-around hockey players in the history of the game and probably the greatest captain of all time in the NHL. No question.

  5. They've arrested Ashley Hunter and charged him with 2 counts of murder.  Some may recognize the name from when he made national headlines for stabbing another guy for refusing to change positions during a 3-some a couple years ago.

that wasn't a couple of years ago, that was a few months ago.

  6. I think this whole change actually might be a good thing now that i think about it more. I think guys are stoked now and ready to go. All the players are going to be starting from square one and have to prove themselves with the new staff and i think it is going to create a lot of excitement and cohesiveness in the locker room. I think after this coming year we will see #8 in the rafters.

  7. I am absolutely nauseated to my stomach over this. Going from The Fighting Sioux to whatever the hell we will be called is a disgrace. I am not going to get over it, and I wont get over it. Growing up with it, living it, breathing it, going to school there....never, did I ONCE or anyone else i know that had gone to school there viewed The Fighting Sioux name and logo as hostile and abusive. Yet, we have to live with corrupt, white, NCAA fat-cats who think they know what's best for schools, individuals and different races of people. Had the state won that initial injunction to uncover those internal e-mails floating around the NCAA, it would have revealed a scheme conjured up by then president Brand, to make an example of pettily ole UND. The Fight Sioux to what? The Fighting Sioux to what?

  8. So it's not "the University of North Dakota Force," but actually "the University of North Dakota The Force" instead?

I think I just shipped my pants. Dumbest. Nickname. Selection. Ever.

    ........an absolute joke.

  9. They were appointed, not elected and their job is to what is best for the school.  If they determine not to choose a nickname, so be it but claiming "will of the people" thing is a little far-fetched.

I said has acted like. It's a public university, paid by for by the people of North Dakota. To say the "will of the people" is not far fetched at all. Then why ask the public for input? Furthermore, we will be putting the final decision into the hands of leader who has shown about as much back-bone as gopher hockey player.

  10. To me the nickname committee has acted just like elected politicians. You get voted in, and don't enact the will of the people. Committee please keep it North Dakota.

  11. I meant it as a not-so-subtle reminder to the UND officials reading the thread ;)

I hope UND officials are reading this thread and see what a train wreck this has become.
