Why is that?

So, to watch UND sports you will need: NCHC streaming (mens hockey), SLN streaming (mens basketball), CBS sports (basketball/hockey), and Midco Sports Plus or espn+ for football. Is this correct? I feel like we need a chart for this..
9 minutes ago, nodak651 said:Correct, but SLN is also Midco Sports Plus.
Exactly. I mean, its not *that* complex...
Like 90%+ of your content will be found on NCHC.tv or Midco Sports Plus. That will get you:
-
Hockey
- NCHC.tv
- all home games and away non-conference games (except CBS Sports Network games)
-
Football
- Midco Sports Plus
- all games except Boise State (FS1) and Northern Iowa (MVFC game of the week on ESPN3)
-
Basketball (M+W)
- Midco Sports Plus (which runs Summit League Network)
- all home games and away non-conference games (except CBS Sports Network games)
-
Soccer, Softball, and Volleyball
- Midco Sports Plus (which runs Summit League Network)
- all home games and select away non-conference games
You are looking at like 4-5 games out of like 100+ games that are not going to be on NCHC.tv or Midco Sports Plus...and those 4-5 games are going to be "nationally" televised (don't know if you could consider a free ESPN3 game as nationally televised).
This is really UND's second year like this as their last TV deal with Midco put everything at home (sans Hockey) on Midco Sports Plus already.

The over-Columbia "Bridge to Nowhere" goes somewhere!
I like that they show an overhead walkway going south, but to what?
Another freestanding tower down the the Hawk-way?
All the way to MVI would be a heck of a span.If you look in the top photo, you can see just a sliver of the the new overhead walkway connecting to Memorial Village I.
It was also illustrated on page 9 of the UND facilities master plan.

I noticed Coach Mal wasn't on the bench during the Manhattan game. I did not see the other games in AZ. Is it safe to assume she had her baby? Anyone know how long she will be out?
I assume she did, either that or she stole that baby, lol.
I would think she would be out at least a couple weeks before returning to the bench. Got a little bit of time before conference games kick off.

Does Big Ten Plus not have an app? Tried finding one on Roku, but didn't see anything
https://support.bigtenplus.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404943756178-Where-do-I-watch-B1G-
According to their support site, it looks like the app in various stores is most likely titled "B1G+", so I would search for that instead.

Any word on a streaming option? From what I can tell my Fubo TV with the sports pack does not get Bally Sports.
It is available to stream on the Bally Sports website for those that have it in their cable package and have a TV login.
According to Minnesota's website, it is also streaming on B1G+, which would be for those that don't have it as part of their cable package.

When @gfhockeyis making a claim, just assume the opposite is true.
lol, this forum is wild sometimes...they are still in the middle of the initial RFP process.
Crazy that some people think that State Government moves that quickly that they were able to complete an RFP of this size and start a new one in that short of time is just wild. The forest of red tape with state government is THICCCC, they aren't getting through it that quickly.

Midco sports has fallen off a little bit for ball coverage this year
How so? I'm pretty sure they are doing most of the conference schedule like normal, and I think they've also done like half of the home games so far this season. Pretty sure there is a very limited viewing audience for non-D1 opponents.

Siedarm acquired nchc.tv?
Well, Sidearm actually acquired and subsequently absorbed Neulion College, which operated NCHC.tv at the time, back in May 2019. We are entering the third season with Sidearm operating NCHC.tv.

How many devices are allowed to stream NCHC TV? Could I stream from NW North Dakota at the same time as family in GF? Thanks for any help!
With all the frustration around the pricing and renewals, I thought I would drop a little good news. One of the changes that Sidearm made when they acquired NCHC.tv is they took off the one concurrent stream at a time rule. I believe you can have either 3 or 5 concurrent streams on a login now before it starts throwing a fit now, I can't remember which one it was, but its more than 1...which is nice.

They also brought a recruit on campus knowing the announcement was getting made.
It wasn't coincidence, it was all very much on purpose.
Even if women's hockey did come back, the old coaching staff wouldn't be.

Surprised that's not something they can do with the UND sports app. I'm used to using MLB ballpark and that's a great app and makes it easy to move tickets to others.
There is a "tickets" section in the UND Sports app (left side pull-out menu, all the way at the bottom). When you don't handle your own tickets, though, and have a company like ticketmaster running the backbone of your operation, you are pretty tied to what ticketmaster will allow.

I thought the digitial stubs would be through a TicketBast... um, Ticketmaster account.
they will. when looking at your ticket there is typically an "add to Apple Wallet" button. The whole Apple Wallet thing is just a better way to keep tabs on your tickets after you have added them.

I just have to say that we are fortunate that Bubba and his staff are able to bring such quality players to UND when the UND Athletic Department makes it so obvious that there is hockey at #1 and everything else. To me if felt like we were lucky that UND found an intern to turn the lights on at the Alerus because that is about as much effort as they put into this game. Now I realize that some of the lack of atmosphere will be blamed on spring ball and Covid, but my gosh:
No printed player roster - could they not have printed a thousand double sided sheets of paper with the player roster. Okay so they want us to go online to get it. Guess what the online roster was not updated for this game - the only one available was from over a month ago.
No band - yes I know it's spring ball and probably tough to get a student band together - but they couldn't get a couple dozen students for a pep band? Never got to a hockey game - was there a pep band for those home games?
School song - Maybe they played a recorded version before the game and I didn't notice, but they definitely did not play it when the team came out at halftime nor at the end of the game.
No inflated helmet - I will give them the benefit of the doubt that this might be an NCAA thing for playoffs but it could also be laziness.
No mascot - again I'm sure they will blame it on the spring season, but they spent $50,000 on a costume and they can't find someone to wear it for an NCAA playoff game?
No player visuals for the team introduction: this is indefensible, during the pre-game player introductions they sat on a UND logo, no player pictures or names on the big screen - this just screams lazy to me.
No senior recognition - I know there are several variables here, not sure who is coming back, usually done at the last regular season game, but come on - this will be the last time some of our seniors play on their home field - no one gave any thought to thanking them on the big screen?
I realize players and their parents read here so I want them to know that there are many fans of the football team, but the athletic department really needs to step up their game for sports other than hockey - this is not something new, it has been pointed out for decades.
One big thing to remember is this was not a UND football game. UND may have played in it, but its important to keep in mind that this was an NCAA championship event.
This means that the NCAA owns everything top to bottom for the game. From publishing rights (meaning no printed roster cards) to all the content on the videoboard content (reason for no player visuals for intros) to broadcast rights (ESPN3 only, baby!), the NCAA essentially micromanages everything that host institutions are allowed to do. They do that because for all intents and purposes, this is supposed to be just like a "neutral site" game.

I signed up for ESPN+, because my wife was giving me grief over my "not handling it". (I should point out that I was at work and she was at home) Somebody please tell me that that will get the game Friday.
WatchESPN, which is ESPN's entire streaming arm essentially contains 3 prongs:
- Linear channels: These are streaming versions of the channels available on your TV on the ESPN family of networks or on WatchESPN via your TV subscription login if your cable plan includes that particular channel. You cannot pay ESPN directly to access these channels, only via the login.
- ESPN3: This is content that is not available on your TV on the ESPN family of networks, but IS available on WatchESPN via your TV subscription login. Your login access usually grants you ESPN3 content if your cable plan includes ANY of the ESPN networks. However, some cable companies grant access to ESPN3 content regardless. You cannot pay to access ESPN3 content, only via the login.
- ESPN+: This is content that is not available on your TV on the ESPN family of networks, but IS available on WatchESPN via a paid plan. Your TV subscription login will not work to access ESPN+ content.
----
If you are looking for a temporary workaround to access ESPN3 content and you don't have a current cable subscription, you can try to get a free trial to an online TV platform like YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV, or FuboTV and use your login credentials from those platforms when logging into the WatchESPN platform to access streaming content that requires a TV login.
Hopefully this helps you and those out there trying to watch the game and Summit League and MVFC games in the future...this is our life now people, haha.

To your point, we have Xfinity and my wife (who’s the brains in this operation) found ESPN 3 on the channel guide and it comes on. If you can use streaming services through your provider, and you have ESPN, you might be able to get ESPN 3 on your television.
Edit: ESPN 3 won’t show up on your channel guide; you have to specifically search for ESPN channels to locate ESPN 3.
WatchESPN (which is all of ESPN's various streaming prongs), which is what ESPN3 is on, is available on the ESPN app, which is available on almost every smart TV, streaming device, mobile phone, and smart fridge out there.
If you want to know if your device can get the ESPN app: http://www.espn.com/espn/apps/espn

Oh I think it's great. Primary tenants are football and T&F. The right thing for many reasons. Just don't understand the "long-overdue" comment from Hadju. Other than , since his UND departure, he's been quite critical of UND administration. Leaving was his decision, but acts like he has an ax to grind.
Based off how he phrased it in his tweet, I think he just meant that with all the things that Fritz Pollard Jr did throughout his stellar career, it was "long overdue" to give Fritz Pollard Jr recognition for everything he did. Hajdu was kind of a nerd when it came to UND's athletics history when he was here, not just hockey.

Endeavor Media bought them both in 2019.
Its been an interesting journey for both Sidearm and Neulion:
- Neulion, back in the day, had an impressive portfolio of clients, including the NHL (they are the ones that used to run the old NHL GameCenter Live). Their list of college schools was also quite large. They were, for a time, the king of the hill when it came to college athletics websites.
- Meanwhile, up-and-comer, Sidearm Sports was steadily growing its roster of college schools growing to 700 by the time that Learfield Communications acquired the company in 2014. At the time, Endeavor already had a growing stake in Learfield as well.
- In September 2014, the NCHC and Neulion announced a partnership to stream all NCHC games.
- In 2015, the NHL left Neulion in favor of a partnership with MLB and their MLBAM platform. This signaled the start a steady number of partners slowing leaving Neulion.
- Meanwhile in 2015, Learfield purchased Front Row Marketing, the company that handled sales for UND Athletics, making UND a new client of Learfield.
- In 2018, Neulion was split into two properties, one being Neulion and the other being Neulion College.
- In February 2018, Sidearm and CBS Advanced Media announce partnership that will allow CBS Advanced media to power all of Sidearm video platforms while Sidearm will power all of CBS Advanced Media's college websites.
- In March 2018, Neulion was acquired by Endeavor and renamed Endeavor Streaming.
- In Summer 2018, UND made the jump from Neulion College to Sidearm sports to handle the website and streaming (which at the time was anything that wasn't hockey, football, basketball, or volleyball)
- In 2019, Neulion College was acquired by Sidearm Sports collectively closing the book on Neulion's existence.
_____________________________
TL;DR:
UND and NCHC.tv all operate under the Sidearm umbrella which is owned by Learfield IMG College.
Neulion is no longer a thing after being split up and the college arm of Neulion being acquired by Sidearm.
Endeavor has had their fingers in everyone's pie.

Some logo consistency would be nice...logo it outlined in white in the upper left-hand corner of the page and then midway thru the page, below the Texas Roadhouse coupon ad, it's pictured minus the white outline.
Are you talking about that instagram post from the Summit League? That area below the ad looks to be a "social" area. It'll probably change next time they post something to instagram.

Lol, the "attention of the AP" is merely Kolpack writing a story from his couch in Fargo, and it being posted to ABC News is an auto-generated page from any stories posted to the AP Newswire. There wasn't anyone from AP or ABC News headquarters who saw this and thought it was a big story.

For those wondering about televised games on midco, go here:
https://midcosports.com/schedule
then scroll down to the “daily schedule” (what it defaults to) and click “live schedule” and then use the filters to narrow it down to UND games under “Filter by team” and just Basketball games under “Filter by category”.
looks like it is 24 televised games between both men and women with all the televised and non televised home games (plus non televised road conference games) on Midco Sports Plus.
