i'm not necessarily disagreeing about this, but i'm wondering what does the BSC get out of letting UND leave in everything but FB?  The exit fee?

Reduced traveling budgets for all of their other teams. Probably a little easier scheduling as well. Hell the BSC would probably waive the exit fee just for those items alone.

So have some balls and guarantee we'll be in the Slummit then, instead of just trolling.

The WAC is the first step, as it can gain us FBS status later.  It's not brain surgery.

Fine let me be the first. UND will be moving to the Summit. They will remain a FB affiliate member of the BSC. Badda bing badda boom!

  3. I wish they would have kept the interlocking ND logo on the helmets. That's been tradition for a long time. One of the few we still had left. They could stick the new logo on enough other stuff anyway.

UND Greatly exceeded expectations 4th best closing RPI in BSC for a team pick 8-10th.. Overall record is completely lame as Most BSC teams play most of their non conference D1 games away from home VS teams from stronger conferences.. There is a reason nearly all BSC teams began the BSC with a losing record...MT was 3-7 NC this year .. very basic common sense for average intelligent objective people

If the BSC is ever going to be seeded higher then 15-16 they need to start winning some of those games. It's common sense.....

But when we have people OK with mediocrity I suppose it's all we can hope for....

  5. Just to shed some light on the NDSU situation I talked to a neighbor who's an NDSU booster and he said the decision had more to do with the SHAC not being done yet and having to deal with hosting games at Scheels arena. They were probably going to lose money on a CIT or CBI game so didn't make sense. Also have some injuries from what I hear.

I think most programs would want to keep playing as long as possible. Can't hurt IMO.

Weber with the 15 seed against Xavier. That'll be ugly for the BSC champs. BSC is going to have to get better scheduling and wins if they are going to get higher seeds. Also looks like SDSU got a tough draw with Maryland. Don't see an upset happening there.

Apparently you are not aware of Phase II of the HPC or the stadium drawings by ICON.  Some very significant clues have been in the Herald in the past decade.

When are those going to come to fruition? Your theory says we have 3 years to be ready. It's getting to be kind of a tight time frame to become reality. I'd also like to know where the money is going to come from for your big plans.

He didn't have the strongest o line. He likely had the best group of WR at one time at UND.

Hard to get the ball to WR when your on your ass or running for your life. He also had no running game to set up play action. Look at the difference in Hackenberg's career at Penn State.

Wait until after March 10th, and then Fullerton will be all over the papers talking about FBS.  The Presidents and Foundations are spearheading individual schools prep for FBS, but Fullerton has to get the rules changed.

The wailing on bisonville will be unheard of when the rules are changed.  It won't be a meltdown, but a volcanic eruption:  UND paving the way for NDSU to go FBS too.  That what you trolls fear most.

So what's happening at UND? I haven't heard anything about a new stadium or other prep for FBS. Did I miss that somewhere?

  9. I still think Joe could have been a great QB. He didn't have a whole lot of talent around him and the coaches sucked. Then the injuries. It is what it is and I hope he has a great senior season at TE.

NDSU had someone give them half the money for the first three years and they still don't have the rest of the money raised nor have they publicly stated how they will be raising it. You think you'd be more concerned about that.

Raise FB tickets $6 and they are there. We will probably do the same with hockey tickets and it'll be a done deal. COA isn't going to break the bank.

Let's say that an average scholarship is worth $15,000 per year. 22 scholarships would be $330,000 per year. FCS schools normally get $250-500,000 for a guarantee game with P5 schools, FBS schools often get $1 million plus. So a team moving down saves $330,000 in costs but loses more than $500,000 in revenue. That looks like a loss by moving down. (There are many more expenses and revenues that would be affected so this isn't a complete look at the situation.)

Would more or fewer fans go to UND and NDSU football games if they moved back down to DII and played Crookston, Moorhead, Duluth, Mankato, etc. I can't imagine that a lot of fans would be excited by playing DII schools.

I would think they would save way more in travel expenses in the BSC then the Sunbelt. How many fans do they draw now?

So the kid should be shunned for the rest of his career because he did the right thing at the time?  Career over after 1 semester due to going back and being with his baby when he was obviously needed?

Calm down where did I say any of that? Good grief.

I simply don't know how all of the academic requirements come into play or how Bubba is going to handle it.

The way that program has endured the past decade with sub .500 records and about 500 people in the stands I'm surprised they can afford 77 scholarships. They need to drop to FCS and try and save some coin instead of staying FBS and saving face.

    I would agree.

Most schools don't carry the maximum scholarships in the spring.  If Idaho does not have 77 (90% of 85) by fall, their FBS guarantee games would have to be cancelled or the value would go way down.  NDSU is paying fewer than 63 as we speak too.

What i was getting at is if they are only offering 77 then they would only have to reduce 14 rather then 22 to get to the FCS level. I'm sure that wouldn't take "several years" to accomplish.

I believe Grady is presently enrolled at a tribal community college. Not sure exactly how it will work but I'm sure the compliance people in the athletic department have a handle on it. I doubt Bubba would bother mentioning it in public unless they feel like it's a workable situation.

Did he do this? Link please?

Do you know WHY he went back to New Town?  The situation certainly is unique and one that most coaches would work with.

My understanding is he has a girlfriend who had a kid. Is there more then that? If not, it's not like that hasn't happened before.

Joining an FCS conference, such as the geographically close Big Sky Conference, would necessitate a several-year transition to 22 fewer scholarships for football and a reduction in revenue across the board in athletics. Carruthers said NMSU’s football budget was nearly $7 million for the 2015-16 season.

Idaho isn't offering 85 scholarships now are they?
