A few weeks ago, CC beat Duluth on a Friday night and then the next night, UMD came out like a completely different team. I have a feeling Sandelin wasn’t very happy with his team’s performance last night and tonight will be a tougher challenge. He has a way of motivating his boys but hat said, I hope UND responds in kind and sweeps Duluth tonight!

You nailed it, they were a different (better) team tonight.  Still, as well as they played, it took them two-2 man advantage power plays(and a solid pipe by UND) to pull this one out on UND.

Why do you hate girls hockey so much?  hate on hata

Puzzled, where does he say or necessarily indicate that he "hates" girls hockey?  My hunch is he's just not tuned in to it.  I tried watching UND women's hockey (I coach girls soccer, watch women's national team soccer, and have 3 daughters/no sons so I've got no inherent bias against women's sports) but the fact they don't check makes it a different game.  That's not good, bad or anything but in my mind (certainly others can disagree, that's fine) it's what inherently makes hockey a great sport in that is has skill, speed and physicality.  One aspect of those, the latter, is missing from female hockey.  For some, that's fine and I get it, but for me it just doesn't cut it in terms of viewing pleasure.

Ignorant much?  The Grand Forks girls team has never won a state championship yet you are somehow trying to argue they've enjoyed the benefit of home ice?  If home ice matters that much shouldn't they at least have won one title based on it being such an advantage?

The best teams tend to win regardless of the location.

Good point.  The last decade or several years of the WCHA Final 5 I St Paul was basically Minn home ice but UND sure did a number down there.

Watch men play hockey then watch women play hockey. It you can’t tell that one group is vastly better on their skates then you’re blind.

You know what, I might of argued with you but I saw highlights tonight of both girls and boys HS ND state hockey tourney and I'm not a great hockey mind and did not play hockey but watching the girls was like night and day compared to the boys in terms of skating skills, speed, power, balance.  No contest, boys were superior based upon the highlights I saw, it just jumped right out at me .  Can there be exceptions, sure there can, but overall no debate.

Anyone concerned with our goal tending? I didn't watch the game, but the highlights showed Thome out of position a lot of the time. It's rare to see a goalie play like he does....is it concerning or just his style???

He made my heart skip a few beats too, he certainly likes to bounce around and flop and it makes it scary at times.  Probably his style but it's scary.  I think he needs to tame it a bit to improve.

Bold take but this has to be one of the most inconsistent hockey teams in program history. It is almost clockwork that if we steamroll a team on Friday night we will lay an egg Saturday night or vice versa. Whether it is a leadership issue, bad luck with injuries, or just not the top tier hockey players we are accustomed to bringing in, this is the time of year where we need momentum and I don't see that happening.

What you're saying is spot on but what it means is it's essentially an average team or just slightly above average cus we have beaten some good teams on several occasions (although lost/tied some games to less than average teams), hence the #21 (?) PW ranking.

Folks do realize that UND’s NCAA consecutive appearances run was the second longest in history. What UND did is far from normal or expected.

You make a great point, I hear you, yet a good number of folks on this board wanted Haks fired despite that achievement cus he kept coaching badly in the FF and natty final.

    Suspicious JJ "injury."

Guys on the team fighting over women.

Numerous other (practice) "injuries," so many UND needs to bring in a new goalie midseason.

Numerous underclassman players leaving the program early, and going to play for other collegiate teams.

Recruits decommitting to play for Brad Berry and some deciding to play for rival NCHC teams instead.

After never missing the tournament in a thousand years, Brad Berry misses it in 2 out of his 4 years!

What is going on with Brad Berry led hockey teams? He's only a couple years in and there is already a lot of troubling signs!

    Fire Haks!

Really proud of the effort from Brew and his squad today.  ORU is real powerhouse.

If only they had a brand new arena.....

I hear your sarcasm and yes, the arena is fine.  It's the recruiting and coaching that isn't.  This is not good, a once proud program that in its D-2 heyday beats ORU looks like a middle of the road/meddling D-2 team now.  If there's not a coaching change after this season, my gosh.  What Roebuck built, a proud women's hoops program with a real nice fan base (now deteriorating), has just been burned in a dumpster fire these last few seasons.  And next season looks like the downward trend continues.  Yoy.

Probably wouldn't have mattered, but why would you not pull the goalie after giving up the SHG when still on PP. you now need 2 goals.  PP goal seemed like a must.

I was not able to listen to the game but got periodic updates from a person seated next to me at men's hoops (radio via headphones) but I just assumed you would do that down 2 with a pp to gain the 2 extra attackers.  Hard to believe Berry didn't do that.  Yoy.

We'll see if they can finally finish a series tomorrow night and work their way back into tourney contention. If only you could flip the caniscius weekend this team would be in a whole different place.

That's a big key, can we win tonight back-to-back and sweep a top qlty team on the road tonight?  I may be wrong but, even though we've beaten/tied a good number of qlty teams, I'm not sure we've even swept any team at all this season of any quality (currently top 20), have we?

I agree that the goal should have been allowed, which would have given us a W, but even still it's been the same story most of the year. Lots of shots, we "outplay" the opponent and lose. Our shooting percentage is garbage. Whether it's bad recruiting or coaching, it's on Berry to fix it fast.

But that was such a BS reversal/call on the replay.  Look at Denver's reaction, none of the players including the goalie even, protested the goal it appears.

The fan forum (or the dozen or so that post) on the Miami site are getting fed up with Enrico and the Miami meltdown this season.

I really think all those years in the CCHA and playing a good chunk of games against sub-par competition really is staring to show its true colors. I think Miami would have been a middle-of-the-pack team in the old WCHA. Maybe would challenge, and get an auto-bid now and again, but not be the juggernaut it was in the old CCHA.

Other than that one season it won the NCHC conference tournament, it's looking like that program bit off more than it can chew in the NCHC.

Not too many conference cupcakes anymore to pad the wins.

I know it was more than just wins and losses but I was surprised (still am) when Minn St-Mankato didn't get in the NCHC over Miami.  Had to be something, I'm sure.

You say that but you literally led it with, "Didn't like my comment..." seems pretty petty to me

By no means a Mafia Man apologist but Denver (along wit St Clown) is now off the table too.  Two down, two to go, who then do we sweep?

I agree.....BUT.....the league had a chance to clean up the officials mess. Instead they reviewed the knee on knee hit and came up with.... " clear thigh on thigh hit."

So HTF did Mishmash's knee get hurt? Yoy.
