  1. I'd likely go.  Had an absolute blast at the Wild outdoor game in the football stadium a couple years ago, and would want to support my team in Msp.

I still don't get putting so many of these in baseball stadiums where the shape doesn't lend itself to sight lines, but the NHL does it often.

Pretty simple on Pinto. Give him a choice. If he wants to sit out Friday and play Saturday. If neither, UND will be just fine beating UAH.

Rest isn't a bad thing. However, he'll miss out on some stats probably. Team first though.

I agree.  Maybe make him the extra skater on Saturday so he can get some minutes back with the boys, but not play top 6 minutes?

Key to Friday is just to jump on UAH early - they'll have some wonder-struck players coming into a rink the size of the Ralph with all the people (hopefully) in attendance.  Grab a quick goal or three, and just put them away.

They do, actually. I don’t think they have qualified often in the past though.

The U17 and U18 both participate in the USHL season.  The U17 plays the USHL games when the U18 is playing exhibitions.  The U17 team doesn't tend to fair too well over the course of the season, especially early, as they're just too young.  Playing together for one year at 16-17 yo is tough to win when you're playing teams with a lot of 18-20 yo and some of the players are on their second or third season together.

I have a question for those who know hockey that I really can’t figure out.

When friend of mine asked why Mankato is doing so well, I remembered a quip from Tom H during the October series that the Mavs had a line consisting of three 25 year olds “who would be filing for social security when they graduated”.  I said the Mavs are a lot older than the Bulldogs.

On a whim I looked up the Maverick roster and saw only ‘94-‘97 birthdays.  Then I started thinking; how did you have 22 year old freshmen?  Where did they play after juniors?  I randomly clicked on the link to Shane McMahan’s bio. He was done with Juniors in 2016 and last year was his first year with the Mavs. His bio is silent on where he played in the intervening years.  So my question is: Where does a guy play for two years between Juniors and College?  Canadian Seniors?

    Thanks for your insight.

Addressing McMahan only, as he played for the Fargo Force before Mankato and I knew someone close to him.  Shane moved to Mankato the summer after juniors, but did not suit up at least the first season.  He did not play elsewhere.  Reasoning would be speculation on my part, so I won't do it.

A similar thing happened with Colton St. Clair with our team.  Got to school, only to find out the NCAA had disallowed one of his on-line classes for credit and he ended up practicing/working out a whole additional year before playing with the team.

Arranging a flight is not rocket science, or is it? Safe travels to all...

Finding a plane on Thanksgiving weekend isn't rocket science, but it may be harder than getting to space...

Buried.  They play 3-4 receivers and he isn't beating them out.

Crazy - I thought he was going to be our deep threat when he first got on the field.

No one is worse than Duluth, let’s be honest.

    This is the truth.

Bucci and Melrose on line 1 ;)

See, I'd take them for a season vs. Duluth's guys for 2 series.  Just don't push my buttons the same way I guess.  Probably because Bucci has always been a good guy during my interactions with him, so I just give him a little more leniency.

Mick’s Office has been in that location for at least thirty years. I spent three days there one night in the late 80’s with their long islands teas. Great blue collar bar with a college mix. Still has cheap draft beer and pounders with dollar 1/4lb burgers on Tuesdays.

And of course, the Hi Ho is still pretty awesome just not as affordable as it once was.

Holy schnikes - that is 30 years ago... Yeah, feels more like 15...  I'm apparently now old and should start cane shopping soon.

Mickey's is also where Charlie's mom worked in Mighty Ducks, for what that's worth

and where Arnold and Sinbad fought in Jingle All the Way, and many others.  Mickey's is not the copycat here, but more of a landmark (of sorts).

Places in Fargo-Moorhead that haven't changed would be tough as Fargo turns over so much that even places like Duffy's Tavern (opened in the late 1960's) probably look a little different.  Though not open as long, Vic's in Moorhead hasn't changed much to my memory. Honorable mention to Mick's Office, though I believe it moved in the last 30 years.  Dilworth still has the real Hi-Ho.
