  1. I'd say this would qualify the issue as 'core'. 2.6 The Principle of Nondiscrimination The Association shall promote an atmosphere of respect for and sensitivity to the dignity of every person.
  2. The NCAA reserves the power within its constitution to act as it did: 4.1.2. Duties and responsibilities (of the Executive Committee) (d) Identify core issues that affect the Association as a whole-check (e) Act on behalf of the Association to resolve core issues and other Association-wide matters-check
  3. Okay, then. What part of the contract did the NCAA violate?
  4. I wouldn't put too much weight in Goldman's decision as it was overturned by the US Supreme Court. Tarkanian v. NCAA For those with the interest and acumen, the decision is a pretty good read. The main point, in relation to UND/NCAA is that the NCAA is that a private entity's monopoly status, the Supreme Court didn't care if NCAA was one or not, does not make ita federal or state actor and thus the due process portions of the 5th and 14th amendments do not apply.
  5. The Mid-Con is a DI conference, not DIAA. (?) Even if they sponsored football, which they don't, the label would be incorrect. Mid-Con basketball is significantly better than the NCC, IMO. They can lure kids with the promise of the tournament and playing ball at home (ie Detroit, Kansas City, Indianapolis,....) But apparently your posting about football, a sport they don't even sponsor..........
  6. The problem is that Potts is right.

    that wasn't me.
  8. I think that the visits (....invites?) may be a good thing for UND. Pending invitation, they now have two more yes votes for conference membership. Even if all members and the potential invitees stay, the Mid-Con will be unstable for the next decade. If one or more schools leave, things could get pretty bumpy. UND would bring its reputation and football team. The geography still sucks; however. What UND really needs now is a partner for the move.
  9. No need for the bold and the question mark sioux-cia, I mean it sincerely.
  10. Siouxmama is absolutely right (learned from NorthDakotaBison's days as a young Devils Lake resident as well). It's a Richardson Ground Squirrel, aka the flickertail. Although you've been the Sioux for almost eighty years, I'd think a UND fan would recognize a flesh and blood version of a by-gone moniker.
  11. maybe you need to reread this thread. the attacks began with northcounty on taylor, i rebutted and it progressed from there. it is unfortunate that it happened, it just didn't happen as state it did, Bigdog42.

Your ad hominem attacks are a lot less classy than those from 'that school to the south' who at least post on the topic at hand (well, in some cases tangents....)
  13. No, because it's not true for all schools. UND does a great job.
  14. Damn that Gene Taylor-looks like he's gotten to UND faculty already Betty Ralston ...... But she did say she is seeing too many repeated courses and would like UND to implement DI standards toward graduation. IAC Meeting Minutes
  15. A contractor? I felt dirty enough agreeing with a UND fan.
  16. I believe that all NDSU had was some concept work done by some students. I agree completely with your post GeauxSioux.
  17. What's this? BUDGET: Tom Buning said the Department of Athletics started the year with a projected $700,000 deficit. Cost savings have been achieved through personnel cuts and a 10% across the board reduction in each sport
  18. Hiring an architect before funding is in place does seem to be putting the cart in front of the horse if you ask me.
  19. Seriously?
  20. ? NDSU has the money in hand. They have hired an architect. I think you need to check your finance dictionary. There is a pretty big difference between a budget deficit-which apparently UND has-and receiving institutional funding-which nearly all athletic departments receive.
  21. Did it go wrong here or here or here
  22. it still counts though. honestly, i imagine (and hope) that it's an aberration. but the ncaa will still pull up to ten percent of scholarships for an APR below 925; UND is at 918. UND serving as a springboard to the NHL (with students not graduating) (or any other university and any other pro sport) may be penalized
  23. "It's forgery, but it was done on a computer," Blais said.
  24. that's funny. the joke is that the NCAA will penalize you scholarships for athletes not performing in classroom and graduating (APR)
