1. Bob Mckenzie first tweeted it was disciplinary...followed up by saying he heard it was for playing selfishly, whatever that means. Bob Mckenzie is typically very accurate. 2. I watched and rewatched the game and did see a few of dangerous passes Rocco made...which I only noted, again, to try and find an answer to why he was sat. Yes other players made them too but I defeintely noticed a couple of Rocco's. 3. Sorry, I watched and rewatched the last US vs CAN game.... that is where I saw the dangerous passes. I was looking at his playing style as a whole. He wasn't hitting the stat sheet vs RUS or CAN (first game) but I too thought he looked like one of the better players out there, so I was shocked at why he was sat. Strome's breakaway was in the latest game. 4. No idea why Lucia sat....I really haven't noticed him all tournamant...maybe that's why. I don't want to sound like I'm bashing Rocco as he's one of my favorite players on the Sioux and I have been following his production long before he even played a UND game....I'm just curious why Housley (who everyone is praising right now) chose to sit him. A good friend of mine (gopher/CHL fan) had never seen Rocco play and his thoughts were similar to mine, as far as this tournament has gone, super skill/risky play.

I think you are correct...or why would they have dressed him at all.
-
Yup, exactly. But I just wanted to point out that is why Housley had sat him....because of dangerous playmaking. Out of Canada they initially called it "playing selfishly" but I would consider it living in the edge. I think you have to start early in this thread to know what we're talking about. I wasn't simply trying to point out Rocco's flaws or anything....it was trying to determine why Housley would sit one of their best players in such an important game.

To say this politely....then you weren't looking close enough. One drop pass, in the second or third I believe, led to Stome's breakaway and the other was a similar "no look" toss to the middle that Canada took the other way for a 2-1, that didn't materialize. Look, I'm a huge Rocco fan....but I can also constructively look at 2-3 instances where a poor choice was made. At the college leve, or below, you may get away with those....but at the professional level (or while playing a team as good as Canada) where players can get up and down the ice so fast...you can't be taking those risks. It's not a time to get on the highlight reel.

Ha ha.....I was thinking the same thing the whole time. There two losses were against great teams and we played two tough/good games against them. I think Housley has done a fine job building this team. I wish Schmaltz was on it though.

Super surprised Mitch is going to be that high on the depth chart....the BCHL is a good league, but not as good as the USHL (that is fact), so I'm not sure he instantly kills it being back with his bro, I hope so though. I'm still a Rowney fan, so I think they need to get the Mac-Rowney-Parks line back together, they were fun last year.
-
Agreed...Gaarger is really growing on me. I still don't know where MItch is going to fit....somewhere towards the bottom initially I believe. I'm pumped for Sioux hockey to start again....I'm feeling this year for some reason.
-
I think that's it....he isn't caught up with the speed of the game yet....especially at that level. Maybe it doesn't show itself much during the college hockey season (yet) but I definitely noticed those turnovers this morning. They would have looked fancy if he could have pulled them off...I still think he comes back to GF and goes on a tear.
-
I read that....they are throwing Subban under the bus. Ok, for all of you Rocco fans that watch him exclusely during the game; what did you think of his game? So obviously he has a super motor and mad skills....but does he make some pretty dangerous passes? I didn't notice it as much early but he had 2-3 dangerous passes....one which Strome (I believe) took in for a break away. He also had some nice (fancy) passes but I think that's what Housley is talking about....those super dangerous passes where the other team goes directly on a 2-1 or 3-1. Just some food for thought...I really didn't notice it as much during Sioux games.

great pass by Rocco....terrible turnover 20 seconds later
-
USAs top line is very good....I was upset Rocco was taken off that line but the have been outstanding ever since
-
Guedreau is awesome! I can't believe I just complimented a BC player.

Rocco with a dime!

# PLAYER P GP G A PTS +/- PIM PP PPA SH SHA GWG SHOTS S% 10 Voltin, Luke F 31 2 12 14 -5 38 1 2 0 0 0 49 .041 27 Johnson, Luke F 23 7 10 17 +9 13 5 4 0 0 2 67 .104 Luke's hasn't had that great of a year....but there are quite a bit better, given he's played in 8 less games. Plus, if you take away his first 10 games he's averaging over a point a game. At season's end, Luke will have decent stats. You are correct however, we should just say congrats and let them play.
-
I am also very shocked he made that team....his numbers are not very good at all. From the looks of it, he may be a lower line player, although his +/- has never been very good.
-
I really think they need to keep Rocco and Guedreau separate.
-
Oh...I fell back asleep with roughly 15 minutes left in the 2nd....or when it was 4-0. I woke up surprised their line didn't do anything because Rocco looked good. I noticed Trocket (sp?) took Rocco's spot on the PP unit.
-
Yeah, I thought he looked good too. I wished he could have hit the stat sheet....to bad he's playing with Biggs, that guy is so overrated.
-
And has seen 0 pp time....trochek took his spot on the pp
-
Maybe...but I believe many of those teams are under the microscope after Portland and that other team finally were caught cheating.
-
True. I don't think it was the worst move in the world to have Housley as coach. He has been a tremendous representative of US hockey for over 20 years I believe. He would also a very good player. The assistants were somewhat surprising however.
-
I haven't seen this many kids bolt in quite some time. London has tons of NHL scouts and great media coverage/exposure, plus their team is very good. Maybe he thinks he will get noticed more.
-
I still like the idea of ripping off tons of shots....but u need playmakers as well. I seriously think he got under someone's skin and something boiled over in the locker room. Rocco is a different kind of hockey player....I bet some things he's does (which we love to hear about) makes other in the locker room including certain coaches annoyed with him. I know I probably didn't write that well but honestly I am a huge Rocco fan I just have heard (similar with tebow in the nfl) that certain people get annoyed with all the preaching. Again just looking for ideas.

Lets get one thing straight....shepards and formerly campion are actually hard core gopher fans. This is truth.
