Grand Forks definitely had more entertainment options, especially per capita, on that Saturday night than MSP.
This is simply never true. Not ever.

This is a big ? SandMan is probably about tooooo much rough house SIOUX in him for the goofs? Although, this year, one thing that seemed like part of the equation was that physical strength was part of the final product. Gophers do have a $600,000 hiring misfire in Motzko, some can't coach to raise the hardware.
Misfire? He hasn’t even coached a game for the U yet. Same thing was said about Lucia before his hire. He had a terrible time in the WCHA and NCAA playoffs with CC prior to coming to the U but won it all in years 3 and 4.

Saw a lot of complaining about not being able to watch this game tonight. I say: true fans find a way. Pay the small fee and stream the game! SMH.
Guess I’m not a true fan.

How much time left?

Wish I could be watching the game I’m not used to this. Pretty spoiled in that regard.

okay let me rephrase..."what the heck has um minny done RECENTLY on the national stage"...if your pulling up stuff from 1896 your really reaching.
Im not pulling stuff from 1896, just pointing out we're one of the founding members from day 1. That's only true for 6 of the current 14 member institutions.

worthless rutgers? what the heck has u minny ever done on the national stage other than losing to south dakota and ndsu in football every year?
7 national titles in football only behind Michigan and OSU in the conference. One of the original 7 members in 1896. 18 football Big Ten titles as well.

We've seen this movie several times already this season, no?
It was a clear penalty. Don't worry about the Gophers. Our offense is the real deal but our D and goaltending will be our downfall. Last time I checked the Gophs are 31st nationally defensively. Hard to win 4 straight against good teams with that type of play although Schierhorn has been better as of late.

Gophers just had a good goal taken away.

Penn State should be leading, Penn State had a guy pushed into the crease and the Horn dives when the players stick touched his pad.
It was the right call.

If the NCAA has a problem with UND incorporating the feathers from the old logo into the new one then we are done as a society. But I honestly would not put it past them.
As far as the name goes this was a serious missed opportunity to go with something unique which IMO is the key to a good name and logo. I was in Iowa City last weekend for the football game and all weekend all I heard was "Go Hawks!" I assume this will quickly become common at UND sporting events as well. How could the committee ultimately decide on a name that when you hear it is almost impossible to associate it with any particular school due to it being so generic and common. It's almost as generic as Wildcats or Tigers. I'm not even a UND fan but this whole process is even maddening to me. You guys got screwed.

Minnesota fans: "Lamest nickname ever!" (then chant: "Let's Go Gophers!")
I say this in complete seriousness, I feel bad for you guys. For being a small school your nickname was very well known nationally. I can't imagine how tough this would be if it happened to my favorite school. I guess the silver lining for you guys is that this process is finally over after all these years of controversy. I don't think that's a small thing. Time to move on.
But I do have to say that Golden Gophers is one of the great unique college nicknames out there!

What I originally said was Schlossman states in the article that "The players lost by never being able to play in a contest that they would remember for years." -- I think the players will remember for years many of the playoff games and even some regular season games.
You're not understanding what he's saying. Obviously he know's NDSU players have plenty of games they'll remember for the rest of their lives, he's not dumb. He's simply referring to the UND/NDSU game as "a contest" they will never have memories of.
-
That's exactly how he was described during his short time at the U, high energy. I'm glad it's working out for him I felt bad when he left the U. His dad posted a lot on Gopherhole and seemed like a good guy.
-
Curious question for UND fans. What have been your impressions of Jordan Hinojosa? I haven't followed him since he left the U, has he played? What's his expected role this season?
-
Ya I get the two safeties but you act like NDSU has nothing to replace them. Dempsey is a good player and has started and Board was a gigantic recruit who rotated in last year flawlessly and was their best player on special teams. They could turn out to suck, but I don't think that will be the case.
He was a 2 star recruit who chose you guys over Bethune Cookman. Don't get me wrong, I think recruiting stars are a joke in most cases as I've watched Jerry Kill turn 2 stars into NFL draft picks. But no one can claim that a 2 star was a gigantic recruit regardless of the level of football.
-
I've heard it has something to do with his brother not getting much playing time here, not sure though, just rumors
If that's his reason that's pretty weak. And regardless of how much playing time his brother got, UND is still the place that helped him realize his dream of playing in the NHL. He should show appreciation for that.
-
Doesn't it seem odd that he would be so close to GF but not make at least a brief stop? I don't get it.
-
Because the concept of personal accountability/responsibility has beed eroded over the past decade plus and replaced with the concept of "who is going to take care of me". To think this has not been further fostered since a certain someone took over the White House is ignorant.
Umm......are you aware that its red states and conservatives who benefit the most from government assistance? Or do you just take everything Fox News says as gospel? But you might be right it must be all those democrats elected in the south who vote for these programs.
Now consider the bottom 10, i.e., the ones that give more to the federal government in taxes than they get in return. From 1 to 10, they are:
New Jersey, Nevada, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Illinois, Delaware, California, New York, Colorado.
Anything strange about that list? Yes, they are all blue states (or the deepest of purple).
Adding to this fallacy are the assumptions surrounding Mitt Romney’s now infamous comments about the indolent “47 percent” of Americans who regard themselves as victims and therefore pay no taxes. As the American Conservativemagazine (no less) pointed out recently, nine of those 10 states are in the red-as-ruby Old Confederacy.*
Put another way, again by the American Conservative, “On the other hand, eight of the ten states with the highest non-payment rates are solidly Republican. The exceptions are New Mexico and Florida.”
-
Actually, someone on here said that the whole "process" is pure window dressing and that UND was negotiating for the legal rights to the North Stars name and logo. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
I think North Stars is far and away the best nickname on the list but I have to admit as a former die hard Stars fan I would be very annoyed.
