Don't try and pass yourself off as a troll this morning.

It was a serious question. I didn't watch the game (not a basketball fan in general) but the deeper a team goes in the playoffs, the more money comes back to the conference and its member schools. Financially that benefits UND as well.

Any self respecting UND person will never hope for the bison in any sport unless it helps our cause

Wouldn't that mean that they should cheer for the Bison in the NCAA tourney? I mean, each time a Summit League team advances from one round to the next, the conference gets more money.... and that money gets paid for 6 years. Therefore there is no good reason not to cheer for your conference mates once your team is done (or at least be content they're still winning) as it does nothing but help the conference and it's member schools going forward.

Except when the Jacks beat you guys a few years back......then opposing fans get punched and thrown out of the bar at BWW.  I know it was just a few dip smacks and alcohol on both sides, but seriously, it could not be easier to be gracious when you hardly ever lose a game.

A few years back (2013 I want to say..) I was down in Brookings for a game and stopped by Cubbies for a drink with my friends. There was a group of former SDSU players literally spitting on the backs of people with NDSU apparel on as we walked through the door. There's idiots in every fan base. Fortunately that night didn't end up with any fists flying, but they were ABSOLUTELY trying to bring that on.

It was meant as a jab at Nicholls St, who owns their facility, except for the tents and "facilities" they need to rent, meaning their overhead is lower.

I'd be really curious to see what the other bids were. Originally I would have guessed UNI would be the only ones to outbid us but wouldn't be surprised if SELA threw out a pretty big number as well considering they are hosting Villanova.

The bids were placed well before (I believe a 2-3 weeks ahead of time, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong) the selection committee decided who was playing who. Therefore SELA had no idea who they would be hosting, just like UND didn't know if they'd be hosting and who they'd be ultimately bidding against.

The kick catch interference was a bad call, which like you'll see time and time again will never go against NDSU.

You mean besides the previous week when NDSU was called for it?

How the heck do we beat Sam Houston State in their house, a place they rarely ever lose at, and then have some fat, McDonald's loving guy run up the gut for big yardage untouched over and over and over again in the first half?

    Maddening.

Having said that, I will continue supporting this team and they still can have a good season.

Quite honestly because SHSU is incredibly overrated and has been for a few years. They play in a crap conference and get seeded due to past reputation rather than current records. On a yearly basis only 3 or 4 teams have a real shot at winning it all, however with the way the system works, 20 other teams get into the playoffs as well. So you have mid level teams playing each other with the slightly less crappy teams getting a home field advantage until the quarter/semi finals. Then they run into the top tier teams of that year and get exposed.

SHSU may be a top 5-10 team.... But there isn't much separating them from anyone else in the 5 to 35 range or so.

If the G5 had their own "playoff" and the NCAA canned all those stupid bowl games that no one will watch/attend I think a lot of teams in the FCS would make a move up including the 4 Dakota schools (or at least the ones in ND).

I agree.  I think the upper half of both the MVFC and BSC would make that move (along with a few other conferences)

Nope they are scared. If they have no problem going to Weber St and EWU but will absolutely say no to Grand Forks, it's not about money, they are scared.

The fact that Weber filled two holes in back-to-back years and was scheduled LATE in the scheduling season didn't have any effect on that, did it?

  9. On 12/22/2015 at 11:35 AM, fightingsioux4life said:

Then Bison fans should stop itching to have UND jump to the MVFC/Summit League if there is an opening, because then they would have to travel to Grand Forks at least once every other year whether they like it or not.

At least then the game would have meaning.

There is one reason NDSU doesn't want to play in Grand Forks and it has nothing to do with where UND's program was at the last 10 years or where its going.  Don't kid yourself.

Does it have anything to do with NDSU not really liking UND all that much?  Especially during the Gene Taylor era?

Just remember that the Bison faithful will never, ever "tip their hat" to UND for anything, no matter what it is. That is why I am not going to lavish accolades on them. Just my opinion.

Untrue.  UND has a great hockey program.  I've said that for quite a while.

  12. On 12/22/2015 at 6:50 PM, darell1976 said:

But if we did that Bison fans would claim the FCS was watered down, and our championship wouldn't mean anything like they said about our 2001 title.

In all honesty the FCS is watered down even now.  Too bad G5 is a worse option (for now) or I'd be advocating a move.

There were 0 reported incidents and by all accounts everybody had a great time at the UND and NDSU game.  So much for that theory.  I remember all the gear mongering coming out of your camp before the game.

It went off better than I thought it would, and I'm glad it did.  IMO the rivalry/hatred is over.  No need to play each other regularly.

Don't forget the h/h they just signed with Eastern Washington. Oh wait we aren't at their (NDSU's) level to quote president Dean B. But Weber and EWU are? Both teams had 6-5 records. I think we have reached that level Dean, just say it "we (NDSU) are scared to play UND in Grand Forks)." It's okay we understood when "we will play anyone anywhere" meant we will play anyone, anywhere except Grand Forks.

Now that I said that, the floodgates will open and the BV trolls will come rushing in, because when going to Frisco the first stop on the trip is no other than siouxsports.com

That should tell you what NDSU thinks about UND.  And what does it say about UND that they accepted this offer? THAT is the real question.

This is the  reason I would love to see the Bison lose….the ARROGANT fan/fans like this piece of work (nd1sufan)…..home and home with Weber but not UND….hope Jacksonville can pull their arrogant noses out of the air so they don't drown if it rains!!!!

For the record, I've been in favor of never playing UND again unless it's in the playoffs.  I really don't think it is good for either school as it brings out the worst in most fans.  As for why we did with Weber, we had an opening in our schedule last season and this season.  Weber was one of a few schools that we could do a home and home with in those years that had the right dates open.  I'm fairly certain that IF those dates were open at both UND & NDSU we may have seen a home and home scenario play out there as well.  The stars didn't align so it didn't happen.

The only way I want to renew this "rivalry" is if you join our conference.

  18. As a football referee, the hit on Arnell was as dirty of a football play as you can have.  I'm not saying he did it with malice but that is irrelevant.  Its a dirty play.  Its an illegal play.  Unfortunately, its going to have a serious impact on a promising players ability to continue playing this game.  Again, I'm not saying the NDSU guy did what he did on purpose.  I imagine what happened was not his intent and that he was more than likely aiming at the hip.  Unfortunately, that was not the end result.

I can agree with that statement.  It's like facemasking... no one EVER goes in with the intention of grabbing a facemask, sometimes it happens in the heat of the moment.

  19.

I don't think they were laughing about the kid getting hurt, but rather that you guys somehow felt the Bison player intentionally hurt him out of some irrational hatred of all things UND.  I haven't personally rewatched the play (ESPN3 is freezing up on me...) so I can't say if it was a legal hit or not.  For the sake of avoiding an argument I'll take your guys word and say it wasn't and there should have been a penalty, but I'm not buying for a second that this was how they were coached to do it or that it was done to intentionally injure him.

EDIT: Man do I hate the quote function on this board.... really bizarre things happen when you hit "quote" and then back out and hit quote again... it keeps stacking the quotes.  The above should have been in response to Darrel's post responding to mine.

  20. Found the picture on twitter of the ZA injury:

    CPXfvks_Us_AA_ZH.jpg

Also, went to Bisonville to see if they had any comments yet.  They are laughing it off.  Unreal.

Link to said laughter?  Every thread I've seen on there is hoping for the best for the kid.

  21. Actually pot is for a variety of reasons, not even close to being as bad as alcohol.  Also, this is 2015, for all we know he could have stopped in Colorado (or Washington or Oregon) and legally bought a bag.  It's going to be legal in 10 years in this country and, it would be nice, if we as a society stopped ruining young people's lives over it.

I agree with you on this.  However, just because it is legal (hypothetically) to use otherwise does not mean it will be an allowed substance in the NCAA or College Football Programs.  If the NCAA or UND/NDSU/UM/Whoever decides to ban it then the athletes need to follow the rules, regardless of the laws outside of sports.

  22. Call me the breaker

All I do is break news

Wait... did you "get the text" about said news?  You remind me of someone.....  Some "Chap" on another message board
