UND falls and DU continues their ascension

That's game.
Brutal time for a call when the refs have let so much go.
I have certainly seen a lot worse. Those are the kind of breaks UND never gets.

DU 4 minutes away from another Frozen Four. Unreal.

We arguably played our best hockey at the Ralph during the DU series. Now whether or not that was more about DU having a bad weekend or us playing really well or combination of the two, we seemed to regress after that. So who is to blame for that, well I suppose that can be debated but it is really unfortunate.

Deep down I think we all knew this was going to be the end result after watching the last month or so. The sweep at home by CC, followed by the sweep at CC and then Omaha and the loss at the Frozen Faceoff, again to Omaha, were all pretty bad signs that we were trending in the wrong direction. It upsets me that this now seems like the norm with BB. I I hope he along with the rest of the coaching staff have some real difficult conversations b

Jackson Blake getting knocked off the puck pretty easily.

Clymer questions our depth, says after Jackson Blake who is there.

On a weekend we needed all hands on deck, this is not good.

I really hope the boys come to play today. It’s do or die.

I had forgot we have to endure having to listen to Ben Clymer.
He sure doesn’t miss an opportunity to talk anything Minnesota. They mentioned the Frozen Four in St. Paul and he was starting talking gophers. A few minutes later he is talking about the Wild. We get it, Ben. You love all things Minnesota.

Gotta hand it to Omaha. They proved they were legit
The intensity and speed exhibited in the recent games were exemplary, qualities I earnestly hope the UND will emulate. Observing the tournament teams, a few strategies stood out: aggressive play for puck control, swift puck clearance from defensive zones with minimal passes, precise tape-to-tape passing, effective zone entries, and strategic stick placements to intercept or poke the puck—UMass demonstrated exceptional skill in this regard against DU. Solid goaltending was, as always, a cornerstone of success.
For UND’s upcoming game, adopting these tactics is crucial, especially against Michigan. Without them, we risk being quickly overpowered. It’s also vital to minimize penalties; giving Michigan any advantage could be costly. My hope rests on UND bringing their best game this weekend, distancing themselves from the lackluster performances observed over the past month, Miami series notwithstanding. In that series, it appeared Miami was eager for the season to end, which doesn’t fully reflect on UND’s capabilities. Let’s hope for the resurgence of the dynamic UND team we know and support.

Freaking Omaha. They should have won that game. Oh well, they went on a hell of a run. It was bound to happen though. They were due for a stumble.

UMass should have had a better outcome. they certainly deserved to win that game. DU is very fortunate to be moving on because they shouldn’t be.

While we’re busy whining about our venue’s seating capacity…
To be fair I think the whining was the fans and not the team.

UMass giving DU all they can handle. Really impressed with UMass’s sticks. Really causing problems for DU

I am sorry. I am cheering for UMass.

Who is that. I can’t recall his name. He has called a few UND regionals. I think he is a Michigan guy. He should be familiar with DU too.

I had to laugh

The road to a Natty this year looks to be the most difficult of possibilities. Start with Michigan then either State or Western to get out of the regional. That only gets you to potentially face BC then either BU or Denver in a final. I LIKE IT!!! Legendary stuff.
I agree, time for this team to put its stamp on the 2023-2024 season. Ain't nothing to it but to do it.

The team has faced significant challenges recently. While they secured the Penrose Cup, subsequent performances have been disappointing. They were defeated by UNO, eliminated early from the Frozen Faceoff, and now face a tough Great Lakes Invitational (GLI) regional. Their recent form raises concerns about their prospects. There may be underlying issues, such as injuries or illness, affecting their play, as they haven’t displayed the same level of performance seen earlier in the season. The upcoming weekend will be challenging, especially if they advance past Michigan, with either Michigan State or Western Michigan as potential opponents. Making it through this regional will be a testament to their resilience and ability.

Well, we do know that there will be upsets. Let’s just hope UND is on the right end of that.
-
Unless Berry and the coaches can turn things around, it’s going to be another early exit. It all depends on which UND team shows up. Hopefully the one that rises to the occasion and not the one we have seen the last month or so.

I mean you are always going to get a good turn out in Michigan when it’s Michigan and Michigan St. That’s a gimme.

I never did see what all the hype was around Snuggerud. He has a hell of a shot but other than that he is a lazy player. He seems like he just coasts out there and all he is looking to do is shoot the puck on net. To hell with defense.
