  1. Ok. Why was everyone booing number 6?

my untrained observations? Corbin Knight seemed on fire during the first period, more than I have noticed lately. Wish he could have maintained the pace. Kristo was a man possessed, and I am not usually a Kristo fan. Anyone count the blocks and checks that Rocco made? PLEASE, don't anyone tell him that he is not a 6'3" 200lb defender that he looked like tonight. And what was with the booing #6?

  2. Someone had a sense of humor tonight, the fan favorite call in players of the game choices were:

    29 Chyzyk

    26 Sanderson

    35 Maris

I had seen 29 out there a couple of times, noticed 26 once, and Maris got the fan favorite results before he ever got on the ice!

Couple of thoughts, I thought Senkbeil made some decent plays out there tonight although I don't think he got any points.

Saunders looked real good except for the goal that went in and he had gotten out of position. We were totally outshot but was fun having 3 goals on 4 shots! (.25 save percentage?) And yes, the crowd roared when Maris came in with 2 minutes left in the game, he did make an outstanding save though!

  3. They know more than Kelley/Faison/O'Keefe/etc... do about the integrity of the gift of the nickname given by the Sioux people to the University of North Dakota in 1969. It was a sacred ceremony and it was 100% wrong to take the name away, regardless of circumstances.

I am still having trouble understanding how a "Sacred Ceremony" that took place on Standing Rock, is not recognized as a sacred ceremony by Standing Rock. I think we lost a lot of credibility on that issue by the Elders at Standing Rock.

  4. Children, children, this sibling rivalry is getting ridiculous. All I know is that I was proud that a North Dakota school won something that a lot of other colleges wanted and we would be very proud to have done also. It was good PR for our state, lets give them some credit. And plan to beat them soon!! Bring back the Nickel trophy!!!

  5. I'm pretty sure he's a "she." I base this on the writing style and mood swings. :hypocrite:

I'm doubting this, it seems more of a case of no one should EVER make a change. I hope he does not drive and get a flat, he could never change it. Time is standing still for him, he needs our reactions to prove to him that he is still alive. I feel sorry for him.

  6. All you taught your daughter was daddy is an unfair jerk trying to show off to the other parents. I see you avoided what you would have done to a different kid though. In poker that is called a tell. And you sir a 2 cent wannabe coach. The job no one else's egos needed pumpin up to take. Loser? That is why I have the cash and assests to be able to sit around the pool all afternoon in Phoenix and enjoy life? I have been watching and researching sport parents for years. I have more respect for the meth head in jail than these ego driven parents. How many varsity sports did you or your wife ever play?

Somehow it struck me that the reason he can afford the pool is explained 2 sentences later.

  7. To 82 SiouxGuy, Sicatoka, and fightingsioux4life. Thank you for proving my point. 82 SiouxGuy adds his own spin to what others have said, and then comments on it. Sicatoka is a drama mama. Fightingsioux4life has nothing to offer but think he is talking big. You have proven that you are all minions who follow along and lack the ability to think freely. I have heard it all from UND how they have lost this and that and they will lose this and that, but when pressed for specifics they have nothing. The post season for UND athletics was not affected in any sport by the sanctions. It is scare tactics by the Three Amigos, Fiason, Kelley, and Okeefe. The moniker issue is a stand and fight situation and if you don't see that, well that is on you.

Please explain to me why the Standing Rock Elders refused to consent to use of the logo by UND when it is supposedly their tribe that did the religious ceremony that gave UND the right in the first place. Either the ceremony was not religious or they have decided their fathers were stupid. They have voted in new elders since the first refusal and have not changed their stance. All arguements should start and stop right there with Standing Rock. Please take it up with them instead of lamblasting a lot of people that have to deal with the consequences of their decision.

  8. Please folks, lay off of Dave K. There is no way he is going to understand logic or cause and effect. Why he isn't taking his argument to the Standing Rock council where everything hit the fan is the biggest question.

Now, about the wording of the measure, how about: Vote No to keep the Sioux, vote YES to keep the U.

  9. In a way, I appreciate the Al Carlson bill. It was a grand final stand for the name and logo. What it did was to prove that state laws are not effective in a private membership deal and do not affect the outcome. The sanctions still held. I believe that was the turning point for a lot of us, realizing the dramatics would not change anything. If I recall right, it was after that when Coach Hakstol changed his position on the issue also. That was when many of us realized that the sanctions really existed and would affect us greatly in the long run. As resistant as I am to change and love the name and logo, the time has come to gracefully retire them and move on.

  10. I just have trouble understanding why Standing Rock Tribal council would not sign an agreement to use the nickname, especially being it was their ancestors that did the religious pipe ceremony. Since then, the tribe has voted in new council members that still agree not to acknowledge the ceremony as binding. I feel most of the battle was lost right there.

  11. I had a favorite horse named "Fighting Sioux". He was starved to death a few years back by his other owner "Standing Rock".

I tried to revive him by giving him resusitation known as "state amendment". But the vet named NCAA still declared him dead. A friend named "Spirit Lake" tried to help but it was too late. He has been laying there for a long time now and I believe it may be time to bury him and get a beautiful headstone. The neighboring states have declared that the stench is getting to them. With many fond memories that will last forever, Goodbye Old Friend.

  12. Why would it matter what Grand Forks county wants? People outside of Grand Forks go to UND games too I'd imagine sometimes. The NCAA is going after one school, and one only.

I guess I was thinking it would prove that UND and the local area is trying to follow NCAA regs and the rest of the state, that may not be following the situation, is putting UND between a rock and a hard place. In that situation, it would seem like the ones fighting against the NCAA should be also sanctioned. It is not a matter of going to UND games, it is a matter of politics, semantics, and personal preferences.
