The fans seem to like the "sing along", the words are printed on the screen while the music is being played. Last nights change of "almost heaven, West Virginia" to "almost heaven, North Dakota" had a chuckle going through the arena.
-
How is the attendance at B10 hockey games? I've only seem pics of the Gopher games and they don't stand out as something to brag about.

3 point night for Tychonick- 2 goals, 1 assist; 3 assists for Kawaguchi and for Kiersted.
2 points for Michaud-1 goal, 1 assist.
And a lot with 1 point.
-
Boeser also added an assist to his hat trick. A couple of nights ago, Grimaldi had 3 assists when a line mate had a hat trick.

According to the Heraldo, Karl will have responsibility for the power play. That can only be a good thing. A frustrating year last year, but it looks like Berry is making some changes that should show positive results. If our returning forwards can take a positive step in development we should be back in the thick of things. Can't wait until the season starts.
I was wondering- would Karl have a unique view of just what shots scare the opposing goalies the most?
-
Just a thought, Karl knows more about how scary a power play line can look than anyone else? He has certainly faced them from the danger zone!

I miss the Old Ralph atmosphere, I swear there were times you "felt" the next goal coming!! The new Ralph started out in part as a "social" thing to do, lots of out of town fans don't want to take a chance on coming and not getting in. When the kids next to you look up from their phone and ask "what period is this" you just want to ...........!!! Yes, I am loud and obnoxious at the games, and no apology coming either! I go for the game, not to be seen. Only suggestion, add another camera game ( i.e. kiss cam) marked " Missing in Action" showing people on their cell phones and not watching the game!!

Was it the Ryan Poehling from St. Cloud that got a hat trick plus the final shootout goal in the Montreal game last night in his first NHL game?
-
I guess I favor St. Cloud because at the old WCHA they were always treated by the Gophers as less than a Mite team. If even that noticeable.

Did Gardner take any penalties this weekend???
-
I have to admit, when we were up by 3 and their coach called time out, I did think of the Minnesota series in the Final Five when we were behind by 3 and Hakstol called time out. My optimistic thought was that Scheel wasn't the egotist that the Gopher goalie was.

and TH says "and they are not even going to review it!!"

i read somewhere, "the harder I work, the luckier I get"..... maybe google can shed some light on who said that...
Isn't that one attributed to Ralph Engelstad?
-
Any chance the Hakstol/Berry duo was a play on the old Good guy / Bad guy theme with Berry being the players good guy??

No mention yet of Schmaltz getting traded to AZ?
Chicago is in a world of hurt with all those big contracts from a couple years ago. Since I've always hated Chicago (even if I liked a few players), I'm liking that this situation can continue for a few more years
Just read in the Monday e-paper edition of the GF Herald that Nick is traded to Arizona. It is now listed on the NHL site also.

In today's Herald, page B3 is an article called Gophers notebook. In the 3rd column is a comment by Gopher deputy athletic director John Cunningham that starts "Gopher Hockey has the most passionate fan base in college hockey". After I got done laughing I decided I was being nasty, it could be that both of their hockey fans are passionate about it.

I see Tucker Poolman got called up for the Jets although he was listed as a scratch in last nights game.

Anyone else get the feeling that having Karl Goehring instead of Matt Shaw has been a part of the difference this year?
