  1. ill be surprised if ohio state signs gwoz if the reasons in the press release are true, but if they do- who would have predicted THAT heading into the first year of the newly competing nchc/big ten conferences? it would be very interested to see how the next few years play out with recruiting between miami of ohio and ohio state

  2. even though it sounds like minnesota is losing 3 of their top 6 forwards- i dont think scoring ability will suffer as much as some do.. especially 5 on 5 as their 5 on 5 play wasnt great this year. but imo team defense and offensive zone time will suffer (which will in turn affect their scoring totals). they are keeping 5 or 6 of their defensemen- but theyre losing three of their bigger forwards and replacing them with small offensive forwards.

  3. Thats a good question. I like Slattery and also have liked Zach Lavalle a lot for a couple years now. I think he will be a good two way college player for somebody in the future. I was also pretty impressed with the 8th grader they had Anderson and think he will be one to keep an eye on in the coming years.

mnhockeyprospects did an article on joey anderson a couple months ago. being that hes made hill murrays roster as an 8th grader im sure lots of colleges are watching

  4. Dumb move on UND's or the conferences' part because from what I can see on DirecTV's website, I have to pay for the highest package they have ($87/mo) to even get CBS College Sports. We were the #1 most followed North American team during the lockout/ #4 globally (so I heard). Regardless, it's BS that we have crap for coverage 75 miles down the road.

if that statement is true then whoever owns the rights to UND games will air the UND games.

  5. Will do. Thanks for their numbers. Sometimes I forget to grab the lineup sheet at the door. Haha.

haha yeah.. youll also want to watch for nathan noel (#18). he is the next high end canadian coming out of shattuck- might be drafted #1 overall in the Q

  6. Shattuck plays at Benilde on Wednesday. I was going to check that out. Now, I know about who to watch for BSM, but who would be a couple guys on SSM without looking too far back in this theead? I've never seen them play before.

can you pass along how chase phelps looks? (#14).. ryan norman (#11) is uncommitted as well.. although portland has his rights

  7. i think hammy finds out most of his recruiting news based off when a player announces their commitment on twitter. i think over the course of the last year- the only recruit he had news of was hurley in saying that hurley was visiting michigan, notre dame, and miami.. other than that- i cant say in the last year one other instance of hammy saying anything recruiting-related that couldnt already be found on the high school players twitter page

  8. But the U of M really, really cares about the other programs in Minnesota! The DQ Cup is just way too prestigious for us to lose! :silly:

Yeah, and pigs started flying in Iowa today.

scoffing at what the U of M has done for hockey in that state and for the other programs in that state is laughable.

  9. Exactly! When they had the rather big window to make the scheduling agreement that Wisconsin did, they didn't. Then almost directly after the vote was required to get rid of the nickname Minnesota locked into their agreements.

are you sure you have your timeline right? i talked to joel maturi at a time when UND had still hoped to keep their nickname and during that time he said minnesota was in discussions with boston/notre dame about 4 year agreements.

  10. why would minnesota be afraid of scheduling with north dakota?? i dont understand the perception that north dakota has been a dominant force over minnesota in recent history and have successfully scared minnesota away. the sioux are 3-5 against the gophers the last two years.

you can easily counter that by noting that the sioux for several years before that kicked minnesotas butt.. but then you have to go back further and you get to minnesotas OT win in the final five.. and a couple years before that their back to back NC's.. then you can go back further to a couple NC's for north dakota. etc etc. over the course of a rivalry one team will find more success than the other. minnesota has had the edge over north dakota in their matchups the last couple years.. but that has nothing to do with future scheduling.. frankly- minnesotas strength of schedule likely just went up in scheduling BC and notre dame instead of UND and DU

the bottom line is none of this would have happened had minnesota not joined the big ten. when that happened- it then also could have been avoided by north dakota giving up their nickname (like everyone knew they would in the end) instead of dragging that on and on. both schools blew it. it is too bad.. the fans lose. the players lose.. but im sure the 2 teams will meet in the ncaas

  11. Miami lost and they stayed put. We win and tie and go down. It's subjective, not objective.

And then there's that person who keeps giving Union a number one vote when they're sitting down in 10th.

I've seen every Gopher non-exhibition game this year. If that's the number 2 team in the country... *shrugs*

i agree minnesota has not been that impressive. but who has been outside of BC and denver? the sioux were a minute away from going 2-2 against all teams alaska
