But if UMD finishes ahead of UND in 22-23, I say we fire Berry and hire a guy who will win natties every 5 years.   Minimum.

By that measure of a championship every five years, Duluth would have dumped Sandelin after his 6 year drought from 2011. Who should have UMD replaced him with?

The 3 million dollar locker room reno and this 5 million dollar reno are reportedly all from the Engelstad Foundation, and if that is the case, I'm

I am thinking that you are a little light on the locker room renovations. And yes, very grateful to a very forward thinking and generous Ralph Engelstad and family.

I guess that Ice Breaker trophy is a participation trophy. Kinda.

Do they not give a trophy for the Ice Breaker tournament?
michigan had the best record with two wins against Duluth and Mankato. Providence was blanked.

Who needs speed and that hockey iq anyway, team full of fourth liners must be Berrys goal , WTF.
if Berry can’t keep local kids from decommiting maybe that’s the reason they couldn’t get Cooley or other blue chips.

Some days I think that Berry has forgotten more about hockey than I will ever know, than I snap out of it and remember how much I really know from the outside looking in :0

Best French onion soup in town

Agree on the soup, it was fabulous ( is the next best now the blue moose?)

The free happy hour bar food was nuts, thick side pork and white country sausage gravy, must have been sponsored by your local cardiologist’s vacation fund.

I was a big fan of Donovan and disappointed to lose him. I think it is obvious the Wisconsin system holding him back :D

Would have only been worse with Berry & coaching staff holding back his scoring prowess

Scott Sandelin he went back to back in winning a national championship and he still hasn't won coach of the year.

Who votes for coach of the year? Coaches, athletic directors, and select media? Berry must be well regarded by a whole bunch of clueless voters and not by certain message board posters.

The first round exit was on a play that was deemed offsides, and 10 minutes later they seem to think there was clear evidence to overturn it, and later the rule was changed to prevent that kind of situation. Don't know how you can put outshooting a team like Boston University 59-29 as a failure on Berry's part, but as Ira said, shallow understanding of the game.   NCHC coach of the year, 3 of 6 years, soon to be 4 of 7, but yeah, unless it is 7 of 7 it is pretty inconsistent.

I was thinking holy sh*t, as a team you just lost a boat load of talent after your 2016 championship and now we just got jobbed by the refs on the game winning goal. And from the bench Jost could see his agent lighting cigars with benjamins from the waiting limo.

Despite the outcome that was a damn good weekend of hockey in Fargo. Good venue, second best in the state.

Geez we are a spoiled group. Thanks coach Berry and staff!

TBH I'm so sick of hearing this.  Its not like he just took the program over and everyone was leaving.  Maybe he needed to do a better job of balancing the classes out.  Weatherby leaving at the last minute hurt.  I have him credit for bringing in Driscoll, Calder and  Ford to have some older players.

It not like when he had 8 Seniors last year people were saying he's not that great of a coach because he has 8 seniors.

You need to win with who you got and that is on the head coach.

And no I don't think he should be fired, I just think they should have have waited until he end of the season and see how things play out.  He was under contract for over another year.

On average, Berry has won 2 out of 3 games with who he has got playing for him. His winning % is .667 and Sandy’s is .545. I feel that he has met the program’s expectations to compete at the highest level every year. With that said your team may occasionally miss the tournament. There are only so many upper tier coaches in college hockey, and he is one of them.

It would be pretty stupid to fire or not rehire all of the 58 coaches that don’t bring home the National Championship every year. We do have SIX titles in the last 41 tournaments. In my 40+ years of watching, that is better than any other team. I would guess that their winning percentage is very near the top also for that time frame. So in my experience, they have been the best team in college hockey. And if not UND, who should I cheer? Who has been better? The increased parity of the college game in the last twenty years will hopefully continue in the new pay a player era (NIL).

  10. Most of us have been around to witness, since 1980, six national championships. Incredible that we can still complain on the ‘down years’.

Berry ain’t blowing smoke when he talks about the culture of the program and his and the team’s gratitude for the tremendous fan support.

With how much this team lost this offseason, and how many ups and downs they had during the season...it'd be damn impressive finishing in the top 2 of the strongest league in the NCAA's and they'd be set up well for the tourney.

You are either on to something or on something.

With that type of logic, many on here would have to descend off their soapbox and cease and desist with the Berry bashing.

We are a passionate fan base. Sometimes we forget to be equally grounded in reality.
Up until Tampa in 2016, I was 0-5 at frozen fours and had lost a lot of hope. Sh*t, most programs struggle to get that far as consistently as the Sioux do. Now I am glad that I was there and I have a lot more patience for our team and the how difficult a one and done tournament can be.

Are we recruiting Tyson Dyck? Seems to be tearing up the BCHL.

Currently two of the top five scorers in the BCHL will be 21 year old freshman at Mankato this fall. Seems like good recruiting by the coaches but will their over ager point production continue in a much older CCHA?

I am still upset about the high stick to Grimaldi's face which allowed Holl to get into position for the rebound.

If I had my way, Wheeler should have been called for diving against JPL :p

or maybe Lammy should have used one of his windmill saves.

Geez, I miss those epic final five games
