Yeah, a potential budget deficit that is a fraction of a percent of NDSU's total budget is quite a mess. I realize Chapman wasn't perfect but some of this is on Hanson for lacking the PR skills needed to run a large university.

Only in my own mind.Let's see, I'm a hockey fan and putting the Ralph as my home town (not as a signature line. The Toni Lucia false quote is my signature line) was a humorous way of saying I was from Grand Forks. I don't work at the Ralph.
Regarding what needs to be done. The Alerus Gang made all kinds of promises when they were campaigning to get the sales tax passed. They've pretty much broken everyone of those promises. We need to hold them to that.
Pay off the bonds with the 3/4 sales tax. They've been raiding that fund over and over, most recently last night when the accepted over a million dollars of bids to rebuild the convention center entrance. We've already paid for one.
No subsidies outside of the hospitality tax.
Open their books. Let us know where they've lost money in the past.
Fire Venuworks, they haven't done anything but lose money for us and insult us. Sue them for the money they owe us from 2008.
Eliminate the Alerus commission. That was formed to make mismanagement of the center unaccountable to the voters. The Alerus commission broke the law to have secret meetings to benefit Venuworks when they should be looking out for the taxpayers.

For example these guys seem to think that because the old civic auditorium cost $250,000 to run it's ok to lose money at the Alerus. When you look at it, the Alerus subsidies in 2008 totaled about 8 million dollars of subsidies.NOW you just being STUPID...8 MILLION DOLLARS?

(and could only attract crowds of about 2000 people in a hideous environment for ANY event.)_ Even the worst attended events at the Alerus are still a net gain for the city when you calculate the money people spent coming to town and shopping. Our sales tax totals have been consistently on the rise every single year and that's the PRIMARY Source for paying for the Al. Stop crying like losses at the Alerus are costing you money - THEY ARE NOT! If anything - it's only taking us slightly longer to pay off the building which, at last check, we were still AHEAD of schedule on. -

Regarding the radio broadcast - I've just assumed it's all (right now) about saving money and treading water during the early transition - THEN ramping up when we get closer to playoff eligible. It would seem to make sense - if you open a restaurant but can't advertise or even let anyone know you're open for 5 years? WHY hire or PAY a good chef? You already have people on staff who can flip burgers right? It's not an art! Just do what you need to do until you can launch your business like you want too. I think that's the philosophy they're using at UND and we've already achieved MUCH better regional and national media availability than that "other"
school with Fox College Sports. We're going to have multiple games of FCS this season - even though we suck - and they'll have maybe 1 or 2 - guess who will have higher viewership? WE WILL! That's a good thing! Would it be more helpful if we could actually WIN A GAME! YES IT WOULD! So maybe the attention should focus on the coaching staff to produce a product people actually want to watch - that's where the FAIL of und basketball is right now.

I agree. I love the recent addition of fans that are suddenly so concerned with UND and how poor we are in everything. They all seem to have the same tone with their concerns but couldn't tell you a thing about what goes on during games cause they never go. Can you imagine how bad things would be if we where actually still their rival and they cared about us

I also remember a UND team losing to Minot State with Jerome Beasley, it happens.
Pretty sure that loss (with Beasley) was to UMC (REAL SHOCKER!) but I might be wrong there...I think Jones deserves a chance - especially since these games now and for the next couple years are pretty much meaningless but it should be BUILDING for something. My question is? Why are we living or dying (MOSTLY DYING) with this stupid Princeton Offense? As an experiment - I say it's FAILED! BJ's real test as a head coach might be if he can recognize that and change his philosophy in time to save...his own job? Why not roll the dice and look in a new direction. YOU HAVE THE RAW TALENT but what you're doing is not working so adapt while you can - what can it hurt?

Why would he apply at UND? We have a coach and I am assuming that Faison realizes that in the 2nd year of transition, a team that loses a couple of games and still challenged for the Great West Championship did not do that badly and something had to have been working.

FYI - "Idiots Errand" is a literary term and NOT a personal shot at SiouxMD. I have absolutely no bone to pick with him, his occupation, his service, or loyalty to UND. My beef is entirely with this website and their crappy insurance! LIBERTY MUTUAL is my beef and I will pursue and burn them into the ground until the end of the earth because they are the WORST INSURANCE agency in the entire world - based on PERSONAL experience! I REALLY hate them!

Yeah...STOP WASTING YOUR TIME ON THIS IDIOTS' ERRAND - if you want to do something REALLY positive - email Mussman and tell him and his coaches to take a winning record and RECRUIT like HELL because we have a lot of gaps to fill in the next couple years! These extra weeks while the playoffs are going on are more of a gift than any stupid Web poll/Phony Internet Popularity Contest could provide and UND's coaching staff would recognize that. We need to ADD players...NOT email addresses to a life insurance company's mailing list!

I'm sure they had projections and a plan. My guess is that they didn't reach those projections. And part of the reason they probably didn't reach projections is because it took longer than expected to just be competitive. My guess is that they thought the program would be competitive after 4 or 5 years. Instead they took until last year to even become competitive. But the future is bright on the ice, so attendance should start increasing next year. They may never sell out the Ralph (maybe against Minnesota?) but they may be able to get a nice crowd in the lower bowl for a lot of games in the next few years.
Oh they had a plan - the problem was the planner was Phil Harmeson and the "PROGRAM" centered around his prize hire Shantel Rivard. When that bomb finally detonated after what? 5 YEARS? UND actually had gone BACKWARD from a fledgling program to total joke. They had to start over WELL BEHIND the starting line....thankfully that idiot Harmeson was out of the picture by then and the program did have to start over. The prospects under Coach I look MUCH BETTER this time and if he gets a couple blue chips thrown his way in the Lamoureaux sisters? I say GOOD and it'll only be GOOD for the womens program - they deserve a break!

Just to let everyone know that you can still vote for another 17 days! And people, yes we had some bad losses, but our football team still did some great things under Coach Mussman this season.....Coach is back in 16th place and only 97 points behind 15th right now!
I understand a certain RALPH HAGER is looking for a job now?? GEE I hope he applies at UND!
