    Playoffs

I figured it is only fair to add my predictions so they can be ripped apart when I'm wrong 12. Michigan Tech at No. 1 UND UND sweep: I think this weekend is a sign of things to come (although not as lopsided). UND's offensive power is too much for the hapless Huskies to handle. 11. MSU-Mankato at No. 2 Denver DU sweep: Denver's firepower is too much to handle for the purple cows. Although Mankato's d-men are solid, Zucker, Shore, et al prove to be too much. 10. Bemidji State at No. 3 Nebraska-Omaha UNO in 3: I think Bakala steals one but Blais is too good of a coach to let his boys come up short. (If Matt Read isn't able to go, UNO sweeps) 9. St. Cloud State at No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth SCSU in 3: Although UMD should win this series, the Clowns are playing some good hockey right now. I think the king of flops shows his veteran leadership and finds a way to lead his team to the Final Five. The World Juniors Mike Lee shows up and has a great series. 8. Alaska Anchorage at No. 5 Minnesota UM sweep: As much as this pains me to say, the Goofs are streaking at the right time. If Patterson shows up, I see no reason why they don't sweep. 7. Wisconsin at No. 6 Colorado College Bucky in 3: A split this weekend is probably indicative of what's to come. CC can't close the deal and comes up short

    12. Michigan Tech at No. 1 UND 11. MSU-Mankato at No. 2 Denver 10. Bemidji State at No. 3 Nebraska-Omaha 9. St. Cloud State at No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth 8. Alaska Anchorage at No. 5 Minnesota 7. Wisconsin at No. 6 Colorado College What are your predictions, and why?
  3. Sounds like a good time, but I remember the last time I played some puck hung-over; wasn't pretty
  4. Got the 4 packages I was looking for and couldn't be any more excited
  5. Now only looking for 2 ticket packages, either club level or lower bowl. If anyone can help, please PM me. Thanks
  6. Each year, the dyed hair kids remind me of the goofer teams in the past 3-5 years who do the same stuff. Ugly, ugly, ugly.
  7. I agree. Moy seems to be (exaggeration) A LITTLE OFF. Props to the people commenting on his article to put him in his place.
  8. DU beats UNO tonight 4-2. Lets go out tomorrow and stake our claim to at least half the MacNaughton.
  9. Yes they are. But they were the first two guys in the WCHA that came to mind, regardless of their franchise tags. As one of my former professors used to say, "don't fight the hypothetical."
  10. GraftonPR up 3-1 after empty netter. 19 seconds left
  11. Just got back from the GFC/Century game. It was very entertaining. Luke Johnson looked like a man amongst boys out there. He skated circles around the bigger Century d-men and did as he pleased with the puck. Scored 2 goals and nearly had a hat trick late in the 2nd period on a nice 2 on 1 rush.
  12. The good ol' Wisconsin (Chuck Schwartz) blog posted this and I think its something fun to consider. The opening paragraph reads: "Obviously this is unrealistic since there is no possibility of something like this happening, but for the sake of argument, think about this hypothetically. If you were running the [North Dakota] program, and had the ability to make trades, what would you like to see done and more specifically, WHO would you want to see in the [kelly green] and white?" Assuming there were were franchise tags and a salary cap, who would be some players you would gun for? (he lists Frattin as "un-touchable" because he is the franchise player) The first few people that come to mind to trade for are guys like Jack Connolly and Jason Zucker. Just for S&G, what does everyone else think?
  13. Thanks for the great video Jim. Great to see where everything started
  14. My biggest fear throughout all of this is that most are thinking only with their heart, not their head AND heart. Someone brought up the comparison earlier in this thread to the crazies in Georgia fighting to keep the Confederate flag on the state flag. Do we want to look like those crazies who only care about the past and will fight tooth and nail to keep our nickname/logo (for the record, I'm not comparing our nickname/logo to what the Confederate flag "stood for": the institutionalization of slavery)? I also agree that a majority of hockey-only fans are the most supportive of this bill. Just because the hockey program brings in the most money and has the most national championships (let us not forget, the football team has won a NC more recently than the hockey team), it is unwise and unfair to only think of the ramifications - if any - on the hockey program.
  15. If there is no effect in hockey, why then were we required to remove the logo from the rink at the Ralph when we hosted the 2006 West Regional Tournament? And would it really be fair to strip the football team of the ability to host a playoff game? Do you think the football team is inferior to the hockey team? Also, do you think the 2001 football team would have won the national championship if they couldn't have hosted 2/3 home games?
  16. Good point. I apologize to Mr. Dalrymple... But what I think most people are forgetting is that we already sued the NCAA and they dismissed the case. That means we cannot sue them again for the same thing. There are specific rules that prohibit this. So the sooner people understand this legal principle, the sooner we can move forward.
  17. As stipulated by law, the legislature is allowed 80 session days. They are on day 35 (I believe). So at the very latest the Senate could vote on it is mid-April(ish)
  18. People should realize that people voting "No" for this bill are not against the nickname. They are against the decades of lawsuits that will continue to hurt the student-athletes.
  19. Ok, the House passed this bill today. Now it goes to the Senate. If the Senate approves, then this will
  20. Its not a matter of being able to outbid someone. Its the fact that the NCAA will not allow us to host a home playoff game if we continue using the nickname and logo. That is why this is so damaging to the athletes. Add in the fact that we will start to see schools who won't want to schedule us because of this entire nickname-circus and its punishing the entire Athletic Department
