  1. Some of you need to quit pretending the administrative action being done is because "that's how things are done at UND". It's more along the lines of "Oh crap, we better do something before we are knee deep in crap like the other guys".

  2. Many people know about the criminal activity of NDSU's football players. Deny it all you want, but that is reality.

If you don't want to hear about it, go to Bisonville. March in goosestep with that bunch. There, it is verboten to speak about such "trivial" matters by the golden "student" athletes at NDSU, such as election fraud, underage drinking , resisting arrest, shoplifting, whipping it out in public, etc.... (Did anything happen this weekend yet? They do have some time on their hands. And you know what they say about idle hands!"

were there not just have a couple of hockey players in trouble for this? pretty sure that got swept under the rug as "college kids doing what college kids do".

  3. There is no conundrum. While the Penguins did reinvent the look of their franchise in 1980 at least they kept the logo the same (a logo which already had black and gold in it, by the way, which made the color change seem natural). When you saw them take the ice in their new colors you knew immediately that they were the Penguins based on that very familiar skating pengiun skating across the triangle logo. When the Sabres changed their logo and their colors at the same time they looked absolutely nothing like the product that had put on the ice the previous year. They were unrecognizable.

so when the hockey team came out wearing the exact same color scheme, representing the exact same school, that wasn't recognizable enough for you? seriously, if you can't get help at prairie, please get help somewhere else, like an island in the middle of an ocean.

  4. Wow - must have been a lot of Sioux fans there with attendance at over 1,000 because su fans don't care about playing UND - so we're told.

if you believe lakesbison, then nobody cares about playing UND, but if you ask the majority of Bison fans, we are more than happy to play UND in baseball, basketball, etc.

  5. Let me try to help you understand where I'm coming from. When the NFL's Houston Oilers moved to Tennessee they kept the Oilers name for the first two seasons. Even though they changed their geographical location they were still the Oilers. Same team. When the Tennessee Oilers became the Tennessee Titans they were no longer the same team. The Oilers no longer exist in the NFL. They were never my favorite team, but if they were I would have lost interest not when they moved to Tennessee but when they changed the name from Oilers to Titans. Once you change the name you change the entire identity of your team. A rose by any other name does not smell as sweet.

so for the record, Houston Oilers/ Tennessee Titans situation:

    Nickname change: check

    Oilers/Titans yearly roster turnover: check

    Oilers/Titans change in location: check

    for comparison, UND's situation:

    UND nickname change: check

    UND yearly roster turnover: check

UND change in location: NOT HAPPENING

Your relentless comparison to professional teams changing names and location doesn't work because the University of North Dakota isn't going anywhere. They're not going to have a change of heart and move the entire university. Even if they did move the university, it would still be the University of NORTH DAKOTA.

  6. Does anyone else find it somewhat disrespectful to members of the military when Nike calls their uniforms "combat"? Those are game uniforms, not combat uniforms.

I think it's disrespectful to horses that Ford has been making the Mustang for almost 50 years. it's a car, not a horse.

  7. That's nothing more than p*n*s envy. It's something they'll never, ever have that we do have and it's like a festering ass boil that won't ever heal!

so if NDSU fans cheering against UND fans during the NCAA tournament is penis envy, what do you call all the UND fans, including those in this thread already, cheering against NDSU in this years playoffs? sounds like the same thing to me.

  8. UND in the Summit League and MVFC sounds more like a doomsday scenario rather than a homecoming. I think there's too much bad blood between UND, the Summit, and the MVFC for that to come to play. I would almost rather see UND drop all sports but hockey before that happened. Now, if UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU, UNO, and a couple of other schools where to breakoff and form a new conference I think that might work. Personally, I think UND could get the support they need to get a WAC invite if they wanted to.

UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU, UNO? in the same conference? blasphemy, that would (literally) be the NCC all over again. might as well throw NoCo in there too.

but really, why not take the 4 dakota schools, UNO, UNCo, and the montanas and make a conference. might need to add a team or two (idaho? denver? maybe wyoming if the MWC falls apart ever). nice geographic footprint, stable core of teams, natural rivalries, sellouts, $$$$. just wishful thinking though.

  9. Maybe Bohl is on edge because UND is recovering very quickly after a 3-8 season last year. History proves that this team does not make a living at the bottom. Rocky Hager found out the hard way.

recovering quickly? 2-2 with a weak victory over non-scholly drake and a drubbing of a transitioning DII school and two FBS losses. 3-8 is still in the picture this season so don't get ahead of yourself.

  10. NDSU is going to be favored over the Gophers? The same Gophers team that lost by a mere 2 points at USC? :silly:

the same gopher team that lost to New Mexico State last week. You might know them as a competitor for cellar-dweller of the WAC with the likes of the mighty Idaho Vandals and the SJSU Spartans. This Gopher team could possibly be worse than their 07 squad, we'll see if they can regroup today against a middle of the MAC squad.

  11. I'll give you 5 national titles, 2 mythical national titles, and 1 disputed mythical national title if it makes you feel better.

As to FCS being on par with College Hockey....that is so far from reality it doesn't deserve any further discussion.

you're right, they're not on par, because every team in FCS is a member of Division I athletics, while the defending "Division I" hockey champion is a Division II school, and the current premier conference in college hockey has more Division II and Division III schools than Division I schools.

  12. Jacksonville State is a few years ahead of NDSU in the transition to I-AA. That doesn't make them better. If who did it first was the sole definition of who did it best, then the Wright Brothers plane would be considered superior to the aircraft that we fly on today.

so then, what has UND done better during their transitional period than NDSU did? pissing off the NCAA is not an acceptable answer.

  13. Yeah, right, they know a lot about ASU. Even after losing to ASU, the average person in MIchigan thinks Appalachian State is either in West Virginia or Kentucky.

I live within 60 miles of Boone, NC and go weeks without seeing a reminder of Appy's existence. By contrast, the presences of Va Tech and Tennessee colors, both about two hours away, are impossible to avoid.

Appy State alumni certainly turn out for their football games - the campus is awesome in the fall and just a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway - but the rest of Appy State athletics is a total afterthough.

just because nobody knows where it is doesn't mean nobody knows the name. How many times does ESPN remind us of that game against michigan? I'll give you a hint, the number of times the App state/Michigan game is brought up is greater than the number of times UND is brought up. the App State name is synonymous with the underdog victory in college football.

  14. Second - do we really want to be one of "those schools" where the fans think they can run the decision making? Let's let everyone do their job, the administration, the coaches, the players and let's just be fans through thick and think. It's just ridiculous to start rants about firing coaches. Second guessing, arm chair quarterbacking is what fans do and that is fine, but good god what value do threads with "Fire _____ " bring to the discussion? It doesn't make the school look good, it doesn't help the players morale and it certainly has little impact on the decision making - no matter what you think.

might want to run that by that burgraff clown.

  15. Just for everyone to know NDSU will NEVER agree to have the game every year because they love having 6 home games a year. Of course those home games are with the cupcakes of the FCS. I bet the first time UND-NDSU meet (of course in the Fargodome) NDSU will end the deal and GT wll make up some excuse like we are moving to the FBS. NDSU just signed up OOC Western Carolina (2-9 last year) and Robert Morris (of course after UND signed up RM to come to GF). Also NDSU has had 1 road OOC FCS game since joining the MVFC 2009 against Sam Houston St, and since beating NDSU I think Gene Taylor will stay away from the tough OOC teams and stick to the cupcakes.

or maybe because they played them in the playoffs last season

  16. Hey Herd, Bisonville called and they want their troll back... Why would an NDSU fan give a ratss @$$ about UND's name?

because many bison fans are residents of the state of north dakota and the nickname issue has an effect on the entire state, not just the little bubble around grand forks.
