  1. I have a couple of friends, both hard core, long time Bison football fans who spent the last 2 regular seasons telling me why Craig Bohl should be fired......over and over. Now they seem to think pretty highly of him. I think what has been a big plus for 'SU is the continuity of staff and the long time strength of it's D2 program. The move into FCS prominence has been a fairly methodical, ongoing process. But, I think it was a result of a good football school patiently standing by a good football man and letting him continue to build the program through the transition years and beyond. The same thing will pay similar benefits for the Sioux over the next few years. I see the Sioux sticking with Mussman and building through recruiting and conference affiliation, into as strong an FCS program as we were a dominant D2 program. I'm willing to believe it will happen under Mussman, just like what we're seeing in Fargo right now.
  2. he's a current UND employee and told me about it at the UC Davis game. He made it sound like a $$$$ announcement would be made this fall some time.
  3. I have a friend who has worked at UND for 30 years who told me he has seen drawings and a model of a new on campus outdoor stadium. The current west side stadium of Memorial stays and becomes the west end zone seating. The field is turned 90 degrees running east and west, with a large high walled horseshoe around the other 3 sides. The have supposedly postponed plans to tear down the old Ralph because other groups on campus would like to have that space. The new field would run to where the Ralph currently sits, so they put a stop to tearing down the Ralph until a new on campus stadium gets announced. He said he was told they are waiting on a couple of committments from super donors before any public announcement. Anyone else hear anything like this?
  4. I don't think so. Look at Northern Colorado as an example. D2 National titles in '96 and '97. They moved up a year before NDSU and SDSU did. They lost to this same Montana team 30-7 last month. They also lost to South Dakota 34-6 a couple weeks ago. You can go by the "official" transition date if you want, I was just being realistic. It will be a process and clearly we're not there yet...... but there are signs we're not too far away either. Plus, 7-01-12 is a very long time away.......patience.
  5. I agree 100%. As bad as it looked times, we hung in with a decent, proven Big Sky and FCS program on the road. The transition will continue to be tough for another year or two, or three. Patience will be needed. But, there is more chance of me winning the lottery tonight than there is that Mussman will be let go. That said, I still can't believe not going for it on 4th down late in the game. That looked like trying to keep it close instead of trying to take a shot at winning. Go Sioux!
