    Not on your lawn

im smart enough to know why places are noisy

I'm also smart enough to know that the dumb sob who turns up the music can tone it down

Im also smart enough to know they can put sound deadening materials on walls and ceilings

    now go shovel my driveway

You might have missed the part where I said it wasn't personal. But, you have a nice day and have a great next dining experience.

Who owns the old green mill and will something ever open there?

need family dining where you can sit and actually visit with those across the table.

Texas Roadhouse, way too loud, vinyl taco way too loud ,

It's nice to have more dining options in GF and it's difficult to see restaurants close. But, as jdub27 suggested, the restaurants that are viable and well patronized, will stay open. Those that aren't, won't. It's the law of the market.

This comment is not aimed at you personally, but at an opinion I've heard a few times about noisy restaurants in GF.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but you don't suppose that a restaurant is noisy before it opens its doors on a typical day do you? It's not the restaurant that's noisy, it's the customers. And what do noisy restaurants have in common? They're busy. And they're busy because they're doing something, or many things, right--good food, good service, good vibe, or maybe people like going there because they're busy.

So, you can go to one of the noisy restaurants--Texas Roadhouse, Blue Moose, Speedway, The Hub, The Frog--and put up with the noise while you're enjoying a good meal, or you can go to a Green Mill before it closes, or a Crooked Pint, before it closes, and have your peaceful meal. Your choice.

    Now get off my lawn!

It seems to me this team needs to play without Kacie on the floor. They rely too much on her, for good reason but for growth they need to find their own identity.

Couldn't agree more. Kacie has a tendency to play hero ball. As we've seen, that doesn't even work in the NBA--see Ant earlier this season. Mal has to find a way to get Kacie to spread the offense around more. That's the only way the other girls are going to get better. Then opposing teams will need to prepare for more than one player and Kacie will be more effective too. I feel like early on last year it was sort of the Kacie show and the rest of the team got more involved as the season went along. Hoping something similar happens this year.

Hard to find a spot most nights! They sure can pack a bunch in there though not too bad of a wait the last time I was there. I like to go at 5 before the big rush

My fave in GF--unpretentious, dive bar/restaurant. Parking is an adventure but the food is worth the trouble. I like their ribs--I think they're an old midwest recipe, very unlike the modern BBQ food trucks etc--they're not smoked (sometimes some of the BBQ afficionado stuff tastes like you're eating the coals...) Their BBQ sauce is good.

And, their burgers are second to none, their steaks are very good, and their homemade appetizers--cheeser cheesers & hot tots, to name a couple--are excellent.

Must be a reason they're so busy.

The problem is, we've now created a new monster.   SDSU is very capable of taking off right where NDSU left off.   We still need to figure out how to get past the first round of the playoffs and make the deep deep run.   Until then, it doesn't really matter if it's NDSU or SDSU making the natty run.

Oh yeah it does. Can’t despise SDSU any where near what I do NDSU.

No. That was speculation. As you say, one of the Berrys could make it explanation.

My assumption is the truth is somewhere between the ends of wild speculation.

I should have said that would be a legit explanation. I understood you were speculating.

In fairness, Port's first story mentioned Tarek Howard as setting up a ND LLC that timed out in 2020; however, it's not clear Howard did the 2022 work for the MN LLC and for  acquiring the TM.

Ok. I'll check my homeowner's coverage to see if it will cover a libel claim. But, if Tarek brings a claim against me, we'd probably get to the bottom of the issue at trial...:)

I don't think the main gist of this story is in doubt--BB's daughter, with lawyer, who is friend of BB, got the trademark. Subsequently, when stuff hit the fan, it was apparently turned over to UND without compensation from UND. What part of that is rumor, and risking a libel claim? All of that was in Port's story so the forum obviously doesn't see a potential libel problem.

Doesn't look like we're ever going to get an explanation from BB. While this is the easy way out, it doesn't "clear his name." The thing still has an odor that can't be cured without sunlight and fresh air.

But we knew all of this a week ago; what brings your comment now? Is there something new?

Twins trade Arraez to Marlins. Good player. Hope they get some good pitching back...

Twins Daily article I quoted from has now been taken down. I assume the trade wasn't consummated?

Calling man's daughter dumb is something one should answer to behind the rink.

I'd doubt you'd be man enough to stand up to your comments, but also doubt Berry would stoop down to your level to teach you.

Either way I'd pay to watch that.

I took these two comments as suggesting physical action should be taken for comments some posters made.

Hes taking justified criticism because he's a ... who will write anything for clicks whether he has all thw facts or not... even if he does and DID have the facts  he will write anything he can if he can try to stick it to anything college athletics.

Journalist and Port are not compatible words.

Journalists passed on the story because it was and still is....

    Nothing.

Every authority you've cried to has now publicly told you this.

    bahahahhahahaa... .....

    No.

Correct but not for the reasons you think and hope are true.

Are you Heidi Heitkamp's sister? I think we are all very aware now of your disgust for Port--give it a rest. And I think many of us are quite tired of your suggestions that you know the "true story." Me thinks if you did you'd have spilled by now. And the same with your veiled physical threats against anyone who questions what happened here. Cave man "logic" doesn't usually carry the day.

Just because some hockey program die hards say there is nothing here doesn't mean it's so.

I agree with everyone on here that thinks there still needs to be an explanation, if not by BB then by his daughter, for her father's sake. If there weren't something rotten here, it wouldn't smell so bad.

    From UND's release last night:

So a vendor pitches a design in April 2020. UND does the routine TM checks: All good. UND did what it should've I guess.

Then in September 2020 the LLC is set up and a claim for the word NODAK is made and granted. Isn't scooping that word an "insider" move? How'd the LLC owner, and the attorney that set it up, know that word. Being the LLC is the coach's daughter, the attorney is a former team mate of the coach, and the coach picks jerseys, it's pretty clear.

And if this was all benevolent and magnanimous in nature, why only when it sees daylight over two years later is the claimed "never intended for personal profit" TM finally relinquished to UND? Benevolence to me would've been immediate gifting, or at least at first public jersey appearance in falll 2021.

Who besides Brianna Berry is NODAK LLC. Is it a sole proprietorship or does she have partners in the LLC? What happened with the TM from Sep 2020 to Dec 2022? UND may not have paid NODAK LLC, but did NODAK LLC receive licensing compensation from some other party (e.g. Adidas) during that window of time?

Dodds' statement may have opened more questions than cleared.

Agree 100% with this. And as someone may have already mentioned, getting a trademark takes significant time and money, so this wasn’t just a lark.

if I were advising BB, I’d say get out in front of this and hold a presser, or issue a statement very soon.

Yes Schloss was well aware I'd imagine

    Or... he literally

    Port knew the full story...

He knew exactly whatvand why he told only the one side

What was the “full story?” Becuz whatever it was 3 hours ago it’s now different after UNDs press release. This assignment does not end the story. We still need to know why BB’s daughter had the rights in the first place. What was her intent? Did she make money on it before this assignment? Something still smells here.

Port kinda maybe inferred this.. purposely vague btw.

Anyone with half a brain can figure it out

Rink Live reporter just made it clear.

Ports article loses everything if he actually told the whole truth....

but then he wouldn't get the chance try and throw college athletics in the mud

You seem to be saying there’s nothing to see here. Couldn’t disagree more. And even if Port didn’t know the full story—and that’s at least partly becuz UND wasn’t very forthcoming—it is news. And it has an odor. At the very least his story should get the rest of the story for those of us that aren’t otherwise in the know.

Port has gone after SU hard for several issues. I don’t think he was out of bounds on any of them. He’s doing his job—we need transparency from our governmental entities.

  15. Didn’t watch the game, just the highlights. Looked like NAU was running a hook & lateral of their own on the last play of the game, but even if the receiver hadn’t touched his knee down, it looked like the D was ready for it—guessing our D has seen that play in practice.

In other words, stay status quo, which hasn't worked.  I would rather have worldwide companies like Digi Key here, but that won't happen because no subsidies means no major business coming here, like it or not.

Part of the problem with Fufeng is the timing. ND usually has a work force available. It doesn’t right now. So, my point is, we’re just substituting a subsidized international employer for the home grown ones we have. There won’t be a significant economic gain.

  17. 9 minutes ago, tnt said:

Organically?  What does that mean?   Grand Forks doesn't seem to have expanded "organically" recently.  Maybe we would have Marvin Windows and/or DigiKey if we weren't waiting for Grand Forks to grow organically.

It means letting the market determine what works from a financial standpoint. Which most businesses are required to do. It's not when one comes calling for subsidies and the city rolls them out and they have a significant deleterious effect on already existing businesses. We usually talk about economic development in terms of creating "good jobs." I think that means the type of jobs that will cause people to want to move to GF and cause our young people to want to stay. There are a few of those with Fufeng. But, most will be jobs where local employees just move over to Fufeng.

Yea but Fargo is a pro growth town. Grand Forks is more of an “awe jeez, I dunno, it might not work” kind of town.

That's also an interesting point. GF's city government/engineering dept has a reputation for being difficult to work with. I can speak from some limited experience there but I also know some Fargo developers who have told me the same thing--they try to avoid GF because it's just too much hassle. Maybe Bochenski has made some inroads there and I hope he has.
