  1. Fighting Sioux will go out east and exercise the BC demons and give us our 8th National title, however of course it will only be a minor event in North Dakota sports history, since hockey is only a regional sport, and it will never compare to getting beat by Kansas in the first round of the 64 and tossing sandbags, Not. It will be huge and the Fighting Sioux will go to the White House and visit the President again. Hey anyone got any pictures of a Bison team at the White House, didn't think so...

  2. Powerhouses in basketball, how many NC does North Carolina, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan State or any other school have. As I recall, North Carolina has what about 3, Kansas has what about 3, Indiana has what about 3, Michigan State has what about 3, and of course UCLA has 11. Are they all not thought of as powerhouses in college basketball. Recent championships do not define a powerhouse, year in and year out opportunity for a championship, that is a powerhouse, and that describes University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey....

  3. Really great debate on attendance figures, so you Bison lovers, why don't you look at the attendance at the majority of Summit League

regular season basketball games, yeh that's what I thought, low...Now how about that Oakland team, the winner of the vaunted Summit League, they get

blasted by 20+ in first round of "big dance" and I suppose that's the greatest sports moment in Oakland history, you guys are the rodents of this board.

  4. I like basketball, I play basketball, my men's league basketball teams are very dominant in Grand Forks. I simply do not see the Summit League

as the absolute goal. I've never been on a pair of ice skates, but living in Grand Forks one is exposed to the best hockey in the country year in and

year out. Not only Fignting Sioux hockey, but Rider hockey, Knights hockey, Green Wave hockey, and also, Warrior hockey and Ram hockey. I also go

to Sioux basketball games on a regular basis, so I am quite aware of the sorry state of the men's basketball program at this point in history, now the women's

team is at least respectable, but the men, really. So I don't see the rush to get into the vaunted Summit...

  5. Simply put, I'll take Sunday night's Sioux win over the Gophers any day over the one and done NDSU loss to Kansas. The crowd involvement

and excitement was extreme, in fact the whole weekend was good old time Fighting Sioux hockey. Any Summit League teams still playing, oh yeah, the

Oakland men's basketball team will be doing a one and done, just like SU last March. Wouldn't Oakland make a good Great West member, since we're so

concerned about proximity and travel, sarcasm....

  6. Yeh, we get it, Minneapolis/Bison, you want the nickname and logo retired as soon as possible, so "our" Fighting Sioux don't miss out on

the once in a lifetime opportunity to get into the vaunted Summit League, like I told you previously, I watched the Summit League Post

Season tournament, looked like an event that lost money to me. The University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux are about making money, remember the old

adage, you go to NDSU to learn how to farm, you go to UND to own the farm. That sensibility has continued as our tradition along with the

tradition of the Fighting Sioux nickname/logo. Nuff said..and I do not care what you put together as a reply, we know what you think and you

won't be changing my mind about anything. Until you've travelled with our beloved hockey team, you'll never be able to figure it out...

  7. In most elections, 10% voters will be enough, remember if there are 8,000 plus members, they don't all vote, and many are children..As I recall the elections recently held barely topped 1,000 voters in the most contested races at Standing Rock...

  8. Standing Rock has garnered 850 signatures on their petition to put the Fighting Sioux nickname/logo to a vote. That is an overwhelming

number of supporters, that number will carry the day if they vote that way. What have I been saying all along??

  9. Hockey is king, anyone that has ever travelled to the Frozen Four, the West Regional, or even the Final Five tournament understands the following of

UND Fighting Sioux Hockey, it's a respected even reverred program, same isn't even remotely true of NDSU any sport....Opposing fans know Fighting Sioux

hockey AND the winning tradition, same cannot be said for any other school or sport in ND.

  10. Minneapolis/Bison it continues to be obvious that you know absolutely nothing about tribal government or the politics related to tribal

government. Whether you acknowledge it or not the nickname/logo issue is a sensitive issue on both the Standing Rock and Spirit Lake

reservations, although I believe the opposition is a minority of the minority, it remains a sensitive issue and the Native Americans will

decide on their time, not the SBoHE, not the Summit League or not on your time. And again, if UND waits until 2012 to get in a conference, they'll

    find one, Summit or not...

  11. What have I been saying all along, Standing Rock will act on their own time, not SBoHE, sorry MinneapoliBison, but there will be a vote, Summit or no Summit. The

members of SBoHE do not want the heat for changing, when we all know all of our politicians, lawyers and doctors are graduates of UND Fighting Sioux, that equates to

donors as well. So just cool your rhetoric...

  12. Hrkac circus was still playing some very tough WCHA opponents..geez how I wish the guys could still

square off like that, I think it eliminates the bull$%!# hits like the one suffered by Genoway, or even the

LaPoint hit. You didn't have knucklehead freshmen taking runs at stars, cause goons would take care of

    it...

  13. You spouting off about someone else's professional prowess, so what is it that you call a profession, reading anybody's opinion and

then making a disparaging remark about their professional prowess, no you have nothing to base such a personal attack upon, and

your one of the one's on the "right side of the issue" same !@#$ different day.

  14. Yeah, we really need the Summit League, anybody attend the Meltdown at the Ralph, the Sioux men and women were

fairly hapless against South Dakota. For now the Great West is the best place for these teams of mediocrity. And yes,

I was one of the few, I would guess 2,000 fans tops in attendance. So MinneapolisBison, and every other Summit supporter,

on the campus of UND, football and hockey, the only sports we're really concerned with, continue to thrive and make money.

Paint all the gloomy scenarios you wish about the Summit being a great business move that the University needs more than they

need the, by the way, trademarked and copyrighted nickname/logo, time will tell, and Standing Rock will eventually speak. They

will decide on their own timetable, not SBoHE's schedule. I continue to be optimistic that the elders at Standing Rock will be heard.

Now, Goon and every other regular poster on here, why is Minneapolis Bison still here, we know he's not welcome at Bisonville, and

he continues to antagonize anyone that is kind enough to discuss any matter, so again why, this is "SiouxSports.com" a place I come

to to hear good news and opinions of the Fighting Sioux, not some blowhard spewing the Summit League is the endall and goal, puke.

  15. That rant was your typical Leigh Jennotte follower, that is the rhetoric that has continued to fuel this nonsense. Why do the native american

students that continue to wear the logo and support the nickname get ridiculed and attacked by the opponents of the nickname/logo. My sister and

several of her native friends continue to wear the logo when attending campus native american group activities. Any of those individuals stand up, and

show support of the nickname logo, and they get dismissed as uneducated and ignorant, not understanding the issue, yet they are all either holding doctorate, or

working towards a masters degree, my sister and her friends fit this category. Myself, I'm an attorney, I attended UND, and I observed native students being

afforded not simply three years to attain a law degree, but however long it took to complete the curriculum. I did it in three years, did not need to do it on Indian

    time.

  16. Still don't care about the Summit League, went to Sioux Men's and Women's Basketball games in the

Meltdown at the Ralph, lucky if there were 1800 people in the REA, and by halftime of Men's game less

than a 1,000, and many of those tickets were complimentary. So, reality is Hockey and Football are the

only sports on campus that really mean anything, and the Summit has nothing to do with those. Alas, the

Summit League and that wonderful run to the NCAA tournament by the Bison, not likely to happen again for

oh say, 20 years or so, so piss on the Summit League. In Grand Forks, Hockey will always be king, whether it's

Red River High, Central high, Senior High or UND, Fargo and Bison fans will never understand that. Right on Goon.

  17. When volleyball, basketball, swimming, soccer, golf and whatever other trivial sports exist at UND start packing in fans other than parents of those playing, I'll begin to

care about the Summit League. Anybody been to the Betty and watched those teams pretending to be a DI-AA product. I have, and conference or no conference they have light years to go before they're going to be competitive. I still attend these events, not sure why, but where are the rest of you Summit conference supporters who believe that that conference is the godsend.
