  1. Everybody needs to step up and contribute on both ends of the ice. Last Sunday marked the fourth time the Fighting Sioux have been on a five minute power play without scoring, geez on Sunday they managed three shots on goal during the five minutes. Simply awful.

  2. My thought is that the NCAA place Penn State on probation for at least 10 years in all sports, this is now a criminal institution. This is not student athletes breaking rules or violating laws, it's the administration from top to bottom. If our logo and nickname creates a hostile and abusive environment, just what the hell do you call the conduct at Penn State? Show some spine NCAA...

  3. Well, now we know what "Big Ten" really stands for, what a travesty. I was reading on ESPN that this thing may get even worse, the rumor is that Sandusky was pimping the children to wealthy donors. Maybe that's why it stayed covered up for so long. I hope this is rumor. Big Ten all about the money, oh, and the sexual exploitation of young boys...My only question is "where is the response from the NCAA?" You would think that this would be considered "hostile" and "abusive"

  4. One certainty is this: The UND teams will be known as the Fighting Sioux for the upcoming season. A second certainty is this: The issue is far from dead.

It has not completely played out, I would say the third quarter is just ending in this game. I'm an attorney and I've studied both sides, no clearcut favorite, anything

can happen. NCAA doesn't want to be involved in further litigation, not with all the corruption within it's organization and it's member schools. It isn't the unbeatable

entity that the nay sayers believe it is.

  5. Just got around to reading the Sports Illustrated article on the Ohio State tatto for logo/Buckeye merchandise scandal. Once again, the NCAA allowsa national championship to be negated by big time university scandal. The corruption that continues under the watchful eye of the NCAA, oh but have a sterling DI hockey team with an Indianhead logo that goes to the National tournament annually, lets spend our focus there....As for me, the NCAA does not dictate what is hostile or abusive, it does not define the iconic history of our region, and it certainly is no one's moral compass. I again recently purchased Fighting Sioux Hockey Season Tickets, and pumped for another run at the WCHA McNaughton Cup, and the WCHA Final Five's Broadmoor Trophy, and a National Championship.

  6. How much Thundering Herd merchandise is sold nationally, as compared to the Fighting Sioux. Since the Fighting Sioux hockey logo was

voted the top hockey logo in the nation, I'm assuming significantly less than the Fighting Sioux. I mean really, when does one see the streets of

Minneapolis/St. Paul filled with people wearing Bisonwear. The bottom line is: The Fighting Sioux copyrighted and trademarked Logo and Nickname

equals $, the issue is really simple when one considers this fact. Fighting Sioux forever! When I see that the Bison logo is the top selling football logo

in the land, I will believe otherwise.

  7. Regardless of the manner in which the suit is activated, it needs to be in Federal Court. It should contain as

many legitimate issues as can be made, lots of UND alum are attorneys. Once in Federal Court, our US

congressmen can weigh in and let's all lean on the NCAA.

  8. Case should have been brought as an anti-trust suit in the first place, and intellectual property rights owned by UND and infringed upon by

the NCAA. Particularly when the NCAA continues to profit from those very intellectually protected nickname and logo merchandising products. Pressure

should be stepped up and applied to the NCAA while the fire is hot from all of that organizations questionable behavior, it is corrupt, and is a for profit

organization, but continues to reap the rewards of a non-profit. Any university with the opportunity should file suit against the hypocritical behemoth. Sioux Indians, Nacotah, Dakotah, Lakotah, Indians will

always be a major theme in the history of North Dakota, just like the Bison. The NCAA doesn't get to tell us what is native to North Dakota. If the NCAA deems one native logo abusive and hostile and others

to not be abusive and hostile, the organization is itself a cause of division among Indian decendencies. What a bunch of crap from a crap organization.

  9. Judging from today's herald, some of the world's best hockey recruits are set to arrive in the fall, funny how that issue of

recruiting doesn't affect the hockey program. The world's elite talents still wish to play here. The program continues to sponser

the entire athletic department , has the most connection to Fighting Sioux, and is annually a national powerhouse. What a reason

to smile, glad my expectations aren't tied to the Bisonville pigskin.

  10. As an attorney, and coming from the school that makes North Dakota attorneys, I'm convinced that North Dakota will

stand evenly against the NCAA. That hypocritical organization is perceived to be at it's publicly weakest, that old adage

about throwing stones, when they live in the proverbial glass house.....Anti-trust litigations can take years....and let's not forget

about Restraining Orders or Protection Orders requiring the status quo until final court determinations....Optimistic, that University of

North Dakota can have it's cake and eat it to.

  11. When you've got the target on your back, and every team is breaking your team down, that team plays it's game and tends not to worry about the

opponent. The Fighting Sioux view every opponent as a threat, from Michigan Tech to Lake Superior State. Now to pretend that the Fighting Sioux don't

prepare for the opponent, is hard to believe. When you're the top, you prepare for everybody, once in while, the opponent will break through, geez, they lost

9 games this season. Hakstol, seven straight appearances in the NCAA tournament, a couple of Broadmoors and a couple of McNaughton cups, and yes,

five losses at the frozen four. His teams aren't exactly embarrassing themselves. Check the Gophers, and just plain missing from the tournament, and extending

Lucia. Thank you again, Ralph Engelstad, for all your generousity for making sure that the tradition continues!

  12. 1997 Frozen Four was a magical experience, I got my two tickets, upper deck, from a guy in Denver, the tickets arrived in the mail on Wednesday just prior to my wife and I

heading out to Milwaukee. Once there we stayed at the Park hotel on lake Michigan, at that time a favorite spot of celebrities. After the team dispatched with CC in the semi-final, we

walked the streets bumping into the Sioux players, the Hoogsteens, Jason Blake, gave Kevin Hoogsteen the thumbs up, and he responded on the street after BU defeated top ranked

Michigan on thursday night. Sioux were down early in Championship game, BU and Chris Drury were on a 5 on 3 power play when Matt Henderson picked off a pass and went the length of

the ice to score, starting an onslaught by the Sioux. Everyone remembers David Hoogsteen scoring and jumping into the glass in front of the Sioux crowd. Then, Kendall Baker and his wife, my wife and

I ran up the street together to the Holiday Inn for the post game party, we were let in through a locked back door due to President Baker's clout, ended up with great photos with the players. An awesome

    and very memorable experience.

  13. Every team has knuckleheads that follow, and purport to be hockey fans. I have a friend from the twin cities, and of course, he's a

gopher fan and shows up at the Ralph in his Minnesota jersey. Inevitably, a Sioux fan or two will accost him in the concourse or in

the restroom, simply ridiculous. The good natured barbing in hockey is great, but many fans cross the line regardless of which venue

happens to be hosting the game. I've seen plenty of Fighting Sioux fans being just as obscene as Duluth or Gopher fans.

  14. Can anyone explain the ignore process, I'm tired of Lomackman's lying, and Rocky Bison's negativity, come in here for

the Pro Sioux experience not to hear from unemployed losers that live with their mothers..
