I don't think anyone can deny that great facilities help in recruitment and better recruitment helps in better players. Just ask this year's hockey team. Sorry - had to throw that in there. But let's not stop at facilities. How about more money for coaches. How about another set of uniforms and helmets. How about doubling the band.
I agree 100%.
But that is a completely separate fiscal issue for the annual budget.
However, UND Football alums will be privately fundraising for uniforms and helmets I believe this year.
UND Football alums alone raised north of 1.2 million dollars in the last year via the leadership of the National Football Alumni Committee which are earmarked for facilities (Phase II), priority needs, scholarships and endowments.
The UND Football endowment currently sits around 2 million.

like NDSU's new Indoor Practice Facility. Oh wait, that was us.
Yeah...so? We still have more to do.
ndsu's locker rooms, coaches offices and meeting rooms > UND Phase I in terms of recruiting.

Furthermore, has he seen ours?...
This is our Phase II.
Ask the staff how important this is in recruiting.

Better recruiting, game plan, in-game adjustment, use of personnel equals more wins.
it really is simple
Correct.
And better facilities will give you better recruiting.

Both of those guys were diamonds in the rough. Not highly thought of at all.
Goedert was a walk-on. Wieneke "only had one offer".
No chance either could be good players at the FCS level.

Check the link below. It's Hero Sports subjective call on the top 50 FCS schools ranked according to this years recruiting class. Please tell me where SDSU is on that list. PLEASE! I see South Dakota at 25 and all they have is the Dakota Dump. I see a lot Sky teams on there, heck even NDSU made the list. So where's SDSU with those great facilities? SDSU actually did better recruiting back when they still had the old CAS stadium and portapotties

Ok so you see no correlation between recruiting and facilities.
Noted.

It doesn't help with an AD still in Washington, and a president interviewing in Florida. That's not comforting to donors right now.
If someone is upset with the President situation, then that's their right to have that opinion I guess.
The AD not being here yet should be a total non-issue. If donors can't respect and understand some transition time on that then I would say they are high maintenance.
If I were in the position to be a significant "donor" for Phase II specifically, I wouldn't let that be a deciding factor in it. But I guess that's just me and my loyalty speaking and it is subjective to each donor's feelings.

No one is against better facilities, but who is going to pay for it? We just cut numerous sports and had to switch conferences because of a lack of money. Additionally, coaches salaries are far below other successful D1 schools. Again, we are short of cash.
I don't understand why that's so hard to comprehend.
Phase II, like Phase I, is to be privately funded and spearheaded by the UND Foundation (Mike Mannausau), with ancillary assistance in securing the funds from the UND AD leadership and the President of the University.
It has nothing to do with UND's budget cuts and issues.
Coaching salaries have nothing to do with private capital facility fundraising either.

The odds of landing top caliber players increases dramatically with better facilities.

Also I saw an article recently on the FB FCS Fans page showing FCS programs that have FBS like facilities. Most of them were not top 10 teams, and NDSU and I don't believe JMU were on the list. It's not as simple as.....who has the best facilities wins. That said I still want ours to be near the top as it does help.
I can tell you from personal experience that ndsu's facilities upgrade early in their transition was a primary reason why recruiting picked up to the level that it did for them and why it made it so difficult for UND. It's still working for them today (along with the winning obviously) in recruiting.
Their facilities upgrades came before their winning success that they've maintained.
Ask the UND coaches. They will tell you that facilities are killing us right now, specifically coaches offices, operations, and meeting rooms.
Any coach, good, bad or neutral, will be able to recruit better talent and athletes with better facilities at any level. It's not debatable.
Phase II is critical for UND in the next 5 years. It has to happen.
And yes, obviously winning helps too.

So Jacobs writes an article to reinstate Womens Hockey, but completely ignores the two biggest variables in order to make it happen?
Financing and Title IX?
Unbelievable "journalism".

That's the point, there is little to no chance that the B1G treat UND as an equal in the B1G Hockey Conference. It would be like when Notre Dame wanted a bunch of one-sided concessions to join the NCHC.
I'm not saying equal.
I'm saying requisite to make it worth the change.
No chance UND is ever given an equal share in that scenario. Just a financial bone to make it worth their while.
The B1G could benefit big-time by having UND on their conference schedule as far as attendance. Quid pro quo financially.

I'd rather have peer hockey institutions be B1G schools for a myriad of reasons, and it's not close.
UND would make the ENTIRE league better from so many different aspects.
I've said this 100 times on here and it falls on deaf ears, but they ONLY do it if what they get in return from the B1G is requisite. Therein lies the dilemma. Not sure they would do that to UND's liking.
But, go ahead and rip away...

One thing that has been overlooked (as far I have seen and read) is the outcry, anger and disappointment that has been displayed by the REA, its management, the Engelstad family and its organization/business/foundation since the decision to discontinue the Women's Hockey program occurred.
They have been appalled and loud since that day.
Remember that?...
Speaks volumes.
