First time at Denny Sanford Premier arena … arena it’s self was nice and modern, the concourse on the other hand was a cluster f%&k…I can’t even imagine what it would have been like if UND had made it, there were lines for everything and lots of the concessions were not open on Friday.
My thanks to the couple sitting in row B section 118 for letting us use their extra tickets so we could leave between games and enjoy some beverages at the Sheraton watering hole….also big thanks to Fernson Brewery for having a $5 beverage table at the Sheraton, and for staying open as late as possible. It was a good weekend of hockey and AirForce quickly became the UND fan fav … the cheering after their first SOG of the game in the second period and the USA chant after they scored were priceless
edit: I believe announced attendance Friday was around 7900 and Sat. a little over 8000

So with UND most likely being a bubble team and their fate resting on a decision by NCAA tourney committee … does the need for fans, and fan base potential with location of Sioux Falls and possible St. Paul trump their hatred for UND

Well, this is it…back’s against the wall. We will see what this team is made of from here on out. If they want to make any post season impact this is where it begins … playing the best team in the country for a chance to continue the season…if the boys can’t show up for this series, well they don’t deserve to make it any further … the only back up plan is winning NCHC tournament and if we can’t show up against St. Clown then we most definitely won’t show up there

Our D is OK, our goaltending is OK … and both should get better…however without a line that can consistently put goals in the net the next couple weeks will be tough … Western and Clown are not Union…I think the inconsistency with the lines is showing lots of missed passes and centering attempts, seems like the overall chemistry is a bit off … don’t get me wrong we have a solid team when we play 60 mins … these next two weeks there will be a lot of growing up taking place and could really lay the foundation for a great season

Our lack of a “go-to” scorer is extremely evident, Gersich has been a tad disappointing so far, PoGo needs to remember he has a C on his sweater, shuffling these lines is showing in the on ice chemistry(or lack there of) … if Union keeps this up they will be in the NC$$ tournament … rant over….carry on

Basically the SRO ticket gets you in the door…don’t plan on getting any quality game watching done with them…however you are only 2 ½ steps from the bar so you could easily drown your sorrows

So topic starts off honoring a great performer … then Big Green decides since it’s his right to proclaim “Sioux” as disrespectful and very embarrassing…on a SIOUXSPORTS website. Then the argument ensues(which is what he wanted by the preceding comment “Prepare to rip me”) … of those that feel it is respect and tradition and the others that feel in some way it takes away from our national Anthem.
While this is just one single thread on a local message board, I feel it in itself is a microcosm of what is going on in the world today, echoed by some of the examples brought up in this topic. Feelers now-a-days are extremely too touchy with the outlet of digital and social media eveyone’s opinion is out there for everyone to see…this in itself isn’t so much a bad thing the problem is when you cross the line of presenting your opinion for feedback and forcing your opinion upon the rest of the audience.
I yell SIOUX at the end of the anthem…if the guy next to me does not…I don’t care, why should I care I am not doing it for attention or self-promotion…everyone has a choice, your choice does not make my choice any more or less worthy than yours

Obviously your mind is made up so no sense in beating up this topic…however after watching and listening to the countless interviews from this past weekend from the ’87 alumni team every single one of them mention the pharse “Fighting Sioux” in their interviews multiple times…It’s tradition and something that is carved into the essence of this storied program … so while you see dis-respect I see homage to those that paved the way for the greatest program in college hockey …

UND @ SDSU (Beat the bunnies)

UND football has impressed me the last few seasons, however that comes with disappointment too.
I don’t feel this team has played the best they can play yet this season, and they will need to this Saturday if they want to keep playing, now is the time, if not now than when?
SDSU has made huge strides and hats off to them to put the Buffaloes from Fargo in their place, but we have a team that when playing to their potential can compete and perhaps even win with anyone…
