Too late. I've already penciled him in as "Cale Makar 2.0."
You can blame me when he underperforms. I can take it.

He had a bit of offense to him his freshman year, but I'd say he's probably more defensive.
I was also wrong. He was on the all-rookie team, not rookie of the year.

You got a good one with zmolek. He was the conference freshman of the year for us.

I'm all good. We already knew about this one. I suspect that there will be another one going there.
On another note, this response yesterday to all of this from one of our players showed some serious leadership. I have to admit, I'm not so sure I'd have the maturity to fight through like this.

Damn....they can't even let us have one day. 1 hour before the intro press conference they post this.

I'm not sure there was a spoeculation list outside of Dan Myers....and he wasn't on that one. Frankly, everyone was so shocked Knott didn't take the position that very few people have been keeping their eyes on this (presumably outside of the AD).
This is, however, about what i would expect. A guy from the USHL because that's where we have to do our recruiting.

Seems solid. Successful head coaching experience. And knows his way around the USHL, where most recruits come from.
What do you think?
Good, I guess? I know nothing about him. My preference was a guy that built a team in the in the juniors and has some familiarity with the college game. Alex Tracy (the "other" goalie this year) won the Clark Cup with him a couple years ago and announced he was staying over the weekend. I suspect Strand has a good name with the former coaches as it seems like a few guys came from there. Beyond assumptions, I got nothing else.

According to Bale, Sowder and Malinowski should be a couple more X's. The biggest problem they have is that they don't have a coach in place to start filling the replacements from the portal.
May have spoken too soon on them. They are still unknowns as they are seniors, but have a covid year if they want

I meant the Twitter account. My condolences on the loss of your program.
No worries....my attempt at dry humor obviously failed.

I'm a master of self-pity. Once I mastered not doing it my life got better. (And I have bouts of reverting back.)
Who said anything about self pity? This sucks, no other way to put it. The reality is that this will take us a hell of a lot longer to recover than it would und. I was just pointing that out.

Sorry didn't realize....you missed 2 though. Sowder and malinowski gone too.

Will I be allowed "re-start" should Mankato select Dane Jackson to take over?
The damage is done. Dwell on it or move forward. But only one of the two will improve things.
I'll be sure to take the life advice.

Your post says you'll have at least eleven new faces on the roster.
UND has twelve, maybe just eleven, guys returning.
Pretty sure UND is looking at more like fourteen or fifteen new faces.
Tell me your woes again ...I'll be shocked if we keep half of our recruits and im not sure the bleeding is done on the current roster....and as we all know, there is a distinct difference between a blue blood program with a coach that's won a national championship and a team in the 5th best conference in the country with no head coach and lead recruiter/assistant coach when it comes to filling out a roster.
Really? Stop

Please feel free to disagree, but from where I sit, it wasn't losing Hastings that triggered this disaster, it was losing Knott. If Knott accepts the HC job, I can't imagine Hastings takes the roster with him.
100% agree.

@bale31At least you still have your goalies? I mean, that's more than UND can say.
[smacks own forehead] Sorry, I know, not helpful
Of course at this rate,we may give up 70 shots per game

So...to recap, this is the mavs last week.
Pro Contracts:
Livingstone
Hirose
Borchardt
Pavel
Carroll
Sandelin
Furry
Transfer Portal:
Silye
Zmolek
Fitzgerald
Tassy
Coaches:
Hastings
Knott
Hockey ops:
Regner
And we haven't even heard anything about incoming recruits yet. This sucks.

They need to put in a rule that you can't follow the coach for one year, and shame in Hastings and his integrity if they all show up in WI
As much as it would benefit my team right now, disagree completely. Players should not be held to a higher standard than coaches. Maybe administrators and coaches should themselves to a higher standard and be required to sit out a year before they take another job.
I have little doubt that the shine is going to wear off of Hastings and Knott in Kato after this. We all thought we had a guy that was different. The injection of money into college hockey has made the "hockey community" lose their mind.

I would think these Kato departures (the good ones) are heading to Madison. Their best F just entered the portal too.
Scratch that....3 best forwards. Talk about destroying a program from the ground up.

Here comes the flood....
Seriously, we lost our coach, our assistant coach, our hockey ops guy, our conference rookie of the year. How long til they take our women and children?!?!?!

Did you just use us and Kato in the same sentence
Yeah, I'm not sure I would have done that. I won't argue, but im also not delusional.
Und is a blue blood and doesn't have as much to worry about. I would he shocked to see a coach leave und for a big ten school. Other schools in the nchc definitely have to worry, but not und and most likely not Denver.

I don’t blame you for being salty. I thought Hastings would stay in Mankato too.
I appreciate that. The saltiness is wearing off. I'm not particularly upset with individuals. I just can't handle people that either try to tell me it's not a big deal and "you'll get someone good" when at the same time celebrating what a great hire it is for wisconsin. If it were so easy for us to find someone good, wis onside. Would have done that. It's gonna be a heck of a difficult thing replacing maybe the best head coach and maybe the best assistant coach in the country.
I also take issue with people that basically say that Mankato should just know who they are and don't be upset that someone better can double our coach's salary. We should just be happy that we're a second class citizen in the hockey world. This isn't the cesspool known as college football and personally I don't want it to be. If that's where the sport is headed, count me out. I don't want any part of that.
