I am giving them (the board) part of the blame. They didn't have to make it October 1. The fact it was an 8-0 vote shows there were politics at work. All the blame? No. Some (and to their boss Johnny Hoeven who I would bet they asked for some advice from) of course. They're spineless.

You have a point there. I just think that once the dust settles, there will be some kind of peace offering. I don't know if it means something as small as a plaque or actual cash. I just think Mr. Thunder will try to play "the higher ground" thing. It's right out of the typical pet cause playbook. We can be friends now because we got our way.

The great tragedy is that a city is this size has an arena like that and people want to destroy it. It's amazing. I came from a city much bigger and our nicest arena was a piece of crap. I get excited on hockey night to just look at it as I walk into the arena. The thing is flat out awesome. Why in the world do people want to wreck it? Like Goon says, the REA shouldn't have to pay a cent to take one thing down.

I want it but not on Kelly's terms from a few years ago where he wanted two UND visits and then it would be "revisited". Grand Forks needs a piece of the pie. I want this game bad though. It will be a blast.

What don't you understand? UND is scrambling to make friends again with the alumni and general public and there is only thing in their arsenal and that is NDSU. The Herald is reporting they're talking again and I'm just saying we shouldn't be shocked. We called it on this post. They think if the prospect of the football game happening is out there, that everyone will jump onboard. Apologies if this is the wrong place for this?

We called it on here that once the nickname bomb went off that the whole NDSU talk would start up. Standby for some kind of gift from Standing Rock. Possibly next year. The AD and Kelly will keep the fish on the hook with the Bison talk while the drones will keep the "get over it" talk going.

Speaking of which, where is that nickel physically located? I asked our great President, Robert Kelly of UC Berkely where it was and he looked at me like I asked where he was hiding the WMD's. He said, "I guess I should know that." I asked another UND Prof if he knew and he said he had no clue. Wow, what pride.

The whole "racist" term is somewhat ridiculous. We are a human race. We all come from one set of parents. The very word makes no sense. Anyway, I think people need to get away from the "racist" talk. The reason I'm saying isn't because there aren't some great debates going on,but that plays into the liberal/Kelly/Board of Ed/Horse Thunder/Hoeven garbage. It's a distraction technique. It's designed to get someone so mad they say something crazy. They go on boards like this and stir the pot by calling white people hicks and that kind of thing. I would just tell people to step away from it and remember who the real villians are in this and that is the eight cowards appointed by a coward Gov. and to rember the lack of support we have received some the big UND politicians like Early Pomeroy and Byron Dorgan. Hoeven has been a mess in this whole thing as well and he appointed these jokers. Robert Kelly is another one. If you want to get even, avoid the racist talk and their other distraction techniques. 1. Stop buying the Grand Forks Herald. Mike Jacobs has made a living off of the sports page and yet he has been against this name from day one. 2. Do not ever again vote for Pomeroy or Hoeven. 3. Keep the debate going. UND wants this to go away. They basically admitted it on the radio yesterday. They think a short term bit of anger is natural, but we'll all forgive and forget. 4. Let the boo's fly when Kelly steps on a field or runs his pie hole. He's a Cal Berkley special and his actions should have been expected. It won't change where we are at, but it will take away any rewards from these cowards who abandoned us when we needed them. I'm just begging people to avoid the racial debates.

Mksioux, I am not asking this to be a smart alec, but because I'm a little confused. What exactly did we get out of the settlement? I mean from my standpoint, I don't see what it could be. The Summit League thing isn't a definate and to be honest, that is not driving this.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why can't the symbol just be ND or UND? I'm no lawyer, but I don't think it has to be an animal or anything like that. Does the football team even have a logo on their jersey now? I honestly can't remember seeing one last season.

I would Ron Thunder long before Shaft, Hoeven, Kelly, and all the rest. Man I had to do some serious praying last night and today because it gets me so outraged and there's so little I can do. I hate the compromising. When will people learn that every single time we compromise with these people we never get anything back? I believe in miracles, I really do, so I guess there is a part of me that thinks there is that one in a billion chance this can be saved. It's just sad, it really is. I don't hate Hoeven, Earl, or Kelly. I can promise you that I will never vote for any of them. I will never support Robert Kelly in any way shape or form. I will never shake their hand at an event. I will never buy another Herald. I will remember the names and if they ever run for office, they can kiss my butt. That's all I can do. Some of you guys on here have futures and will succeed in life. You guys fight like tigers for the things you believe in. You blow away any MMA fighter. Some of you on here give me hope for our country. I'm sad now, but I think some of you will make a difference someday. If any of you are graduating tomorrow, I'm just sorry this crap has to rain on the day. Tune out Dorgan's lies and know you're going places. Some of you have character and that isn't something you can pretend.

I just sent this off to our great board: I wanted to say that I find your decision two days before UND graduation to be without class. This nickname thing will hanging over the graduation. Why couldn't this have waited even a few days? Also, the fact that eight people made a decision despite the tribes being under the impression they could see the process through shows that you are pushing a political agenda far more than you are looking out for the people of North Dakota. I asked Kelly point blank about the nickname and stammered like he was doing a Nancy Pelosi impersnation. I told him that a lot of people love that name and that a few people shouldn't push their political agenda on us. He kept referring to Mr. Horse is Thunder has having a valid point and that all sides should be respected. I told him that Horse is Thunder won't even go and look at the Ralph. He calls it names and yet we still treat him like royalty when he visits here. He stammered some more and then admitted he didn't know anything about hockey and that he used to go to school or teach or some crap in Berkely. Right then and there I thought this guy doesn't like the name. He'll get a big ol' atta boy from his liberal friends. Mark my words, we will see a present, donation, or something from Horse is Thunder soon. Let's all be friends now. As long as you do what we want, we'll be friends with you. Some people on here are saying they want to fight back. Man it's frustrating because board is so protected. My advice is to never buy the Herald again (they are a party to this), never vote for Pomeroy, Hoeven, Dorgan, or Conrad again, boo the heck out of Kelly everytime he is on camera, avoid the race baiting crap they're doing to distract us and "prove their point", and keep the faith. Oh and a big shout out to our liberal Gov John Hoeven for not even attempting to take a stand. It's not hard. Dave Hakstol did, the people of Spirit Lake did, the people on here did. At least Horse is Thunder has some backbone to take a stand. Pomeroy, Hoeven, Kelly, and all the rest will never have my vote or my respect. Dave Hakstol had some real courage during this whole thing. No matter what goes down from here on out, I will always respect him for that.

Not only are they cowards for holding their vote in Dickinson. Not only did they betray the Indians who were promised a chance to use the length of the settled agreement to organize, vote, etc, but it shows a real lack of class to have this decision come down before graduation. Now it'll be in the air. These dictators and that's what they are, ol' Berkely man Robert Kelly, and a few others are real pieces of work. These people couldn't name two teams in the Summit League. What a joke.

They can ban anything if they make it a "hate crime" or "hostile and abusive" (sound familiar?). I used to be stationed in a certain city by the bay and one time my friends and I were telling some off color jokes (we were 19) about a subject that used to be highlighted on Will and Grace. Well someone heard us talking and I was given a lecture from the police on hate crimes. I wasn't advocating hate at all, it was a dumb joke between some friends. At any rate, if the campus labels something hateful regardless of good intentions, they can outlaw it.

I think there will be a fan poll on the site and the Herald (which if you like the Sioux name, I urge you to never buy that paper again for their role in this thing). The name will have already been decided but they'll let us play along and vote between A. An animal name B. A weather related name. C. A totally idiotic name that they know we won't like (like North Dakota Sand Devils or North Dakota Moonwalkers) D. Force of the North or one of the more commonly heard "rumor names". I used to live in a city that saw a WNBA team and an Arena team come in. Same crap, the newspapers ran their little poll with the weather name, animal name, etc etc. One time they screwed up and the Arena name had leaked before the poll. It'll be a sham, but it'll be UND's way to make us happy again. Also, watch for a gift or something from Ron Thunder. Some kind of peace offering so he can "rise above." It's all from the liberal playbook.

I think the PC doorknobs will wait a little bit and then try to get the faculty or student senate to make a statement that sioux jerseys on campus are no different than a swatiska. It will be a "hate crime". I know it sounds ridiculous, but I honestly think it will happen. As far as the Bison goes, I would not be shocked at all. It's why that line in the sand is so important. If you give an inch to these people, they will take three. Liberals and that's what Robert Kelly and many of the professors, the board, and some on here who want the name changed and they will probably get it. Then it's on to the next cause. They aren't happy unless they complaining and destroying. It's sick. The good ol' days in Berkely (where Kelly attended for awhile). I will never respect these clowns.

Kind of like most of us who didn't want the stimulus bill, but the dictators said we are going to have it. California voted against that marriage thing and they'll still get screwed because of their dictators. Same thing on the reservation. My tribe had some issues with the council and they played Pomeroy errr....politics on us and stretched things out, held meetings during holidays, etc to get their way. Someone said it's a cowardly way of doing business (on one of the posts) and I 100% agree.
