  1. I saw the play your talking about. The UND OLB lost contain and Ullsperger came from the inside and actually beat Miller to the sideline to turn him in. Unfortunately no one made it over in time to prevent Miller from scoring. Ullsperger has been a stud for UND for 4 years and is VERY deserving of 1st team all NCC. He and Danenhauer are like clones of one another.
  2. ...in college football a heavily favored team comes out flat, regoups at the half and comes out like they should have to shut down the opponent and pull one out. This week we were one of the 20. Lets not panic here folks, all is well in Sioux-Land. Think about it, how many of us were "stoked" for the WWU game? The boys are human too.

    CWU vs UND

Sounded like the old men (Manke, Dressler, Ullsperger, Wolff and Brennan) played outstanding games and newbie's Manke and Malner were great in the nickel and dime packages. Lots of career highs also. Congrats Sioux !!
  4. I think the starters on the defense are a very talented and game-tested group. Brennan, Enger, Wolff, Cadwell and ZBJ or Bodoh on the front / Ullsperger and Schmitz or Meek on the inside ( Ullsperger moved to Diggers spot and Schmitz and Meek will probably share time opposite him) / Hoffsneider, Greenwood, DeSautel and Alexander in the secondary. What this defense needs to be great are some hungry "2's" to spell and push the starters.
  5. At a team meeting yesterday Coach Lennon announced that Ullsperger would be a team captain next season. The rest of the captains will get voted for by the team before the season starts. Congrats to "Danimal".
  6. Coach Tim Tibesar has become the special teams coach at Kansas State. Coach Lennon will take over as D-Coordinator and ILB coach.
  7. Keep in mind that only USD (35-14) has outscored MSU by a larger margine than we currently are. They are not a bad team. At least as 2-7 teams go.
  8. But the Sioux D is pitching a shut-out which it has not gotten yet this year.

    Fall Camp

It's awesome that Tibesar thinks Anderson and Ullsperger are the best tandem of LB's in our region and possibly the nation. It shows Halstenson as Diggers backup but who will spell Ullsperger?
  10. Ullsperger is going to be a jr next season. At about 240 and a 40 time in the 4.7's he just may play after UND but not after his jr year.
  11. Also, Dan Grossman will be back at wr as well. I think he was one of those 6th year senior guys this spring.
  12. Dont forget jr lb Dan Ullsperger. He's played more than any jr other than Hoffschneider.
  13. I bet there is going to be many more people than would have gone to the alerus. Lots of tailgating!!
  14. Spring game at Memorial Stadium!!
  15. I talked to a couple of the guys yesterday and they said Dan Ullsperger was the player they thought was working out especially hard and getting huge. I think spring ball starts right after easter.
  16. To answer the original question - Chris Beatty. A very "Roland" type back who will be the perfect compliment to Strouth. Both will be juniors.
  17. Especially the WILB combo of Dan U and Jake N who split time this past season. It's interesting if you make them into one full time player and compare their stats to Diggers. Solo's 51 (DA-52) , Total tack 90 (DA-104) , TFL 10 (DA-12) , Sacks 5 (DA-4) , Int 0 (DA-1) , Pass Brkup 2 (DA-1) , QBH 7 (DA-1) , Fum Rcv 4 (DA-0) , Forc Fum 2 (DA-1). "They" were one hell of LB last year!! It will be exiting to see how Ullsperger compares to Digger as a full time player next season. Digger is a tackling machine and Dan is becoming a little more of a "big play" guy. They very well could be the best ILB combo at UND in many, many years.
  18. Halstenson broke his ankle. Young guys will have to step up at ILB next year. Anderson and Ullsperger will start. Digger is Digger and I think Dan is poised to have an all-confernce type junior year. He always seems to make a big play, does'nt he? Beyond that there is Hal (coming off the injury) and Schmitz(jr), Meek(so) and Reiff(so) who have very little game experience.
  19. I heard Western Washington and West Chester, both at the Al.

    DataFlix

How has it been working the past few weeks?
  21. 95% of UND's players are from cold weather climates. The weather conditions will not benefit MTU, no matter what they may be.
  22. If Tech can take the field Sat. and beat the Sioux, especially with a frosh backup QB and a beat up RB, god bless em and good luck!! I got a feeling that about 13,500 turkey stuffed Sioux fans are going to be sreaming in the Alerus on the 27th as UND is playing GVSU for the right to play in the semi's.

    Bowencamp

With about 2 min. left in the UNO game on 4th down he hit Dressler in the belly on a long pass at the 10 and he dropped it, ending any chance of a comeback. Dressler slumped off the field, went right to the bench, sat down and hung his head. Bowencamp came off the field and went right to Dressler, sat beside him and with an arm around his shoulders was clearly consoling him. John Bowencamp the QB - bad, bad game / John Bowencamp the man - came up huge at a crucial moment. Good luck John and thanks for the memories!!
  24. It is kind of funny that we'll probably be ranked as high or higher in the national polls as we are in our own region.
  25. Not to worry. The wins over UNO and USD will adjust our SSI, coupled with the teams above us that will lose because they play each other and we'll be 1 or 2.
