  1. Is anyone watching on FSN Rocky Mountain? Long story short, last year I was an analyst on the Fighting Sioux Radio Network before moving out to Wyoming this summer. Didn't miss a hme game at all last year. Well, this year, FSN Rocky Mountain decides to bring Alana Rizzo with them this year to be the reporter rink-side. I miss being at the Ralph every weekend.....but with Alanna there, I'm really missing it this year!!!

  2. Open your windows media player, select tools/options/performance tab, and set your network buffering to 50 or 60 seconds (instead of using the default bufferning). That will leave you further behind than some with faster connections, but should end the rebuffering.

Thanks Sprig! I guess I'm not that technologically advanced. Good to hear Hennessey again this season.

  3. JACKPOT!!! I've located a bar in town that in fact gets the game! There will be kareoke going on while the game is on, but that's fine by me, I think I'd rather listen to bad singing before I listen to Frank anyway. Now if Doug is drunk like I'm certain he was this morning, that would be fine. So.....if any of you Sioux fans are here in Gillette, I'll be at the Sundance Lounge at the National 9 Hotel with my black swift on. Come say hi!

  4. I'd like to live there - any good jobs there  - How far are you from Devils Tower are you

If you work in the oil and gas industry, like I do, or the coal industry, there are jobs here. It's expensive to live here though, even more so than Grand Forks. I'm about 50 miles from Devils Tower, more or less. It's easy to see from I-90 while you are driving. One of the drawbacks to Gillette, however, is that I can't find the damn game anywhere!! I'd watch or listen on my computer, but my internet connection is not great enough to support either options.

  5. The moratorium is 4 years. UND made the last cut for avoiding it.

So I don't think Central could transition to DI in 2012-13.

They seem to be very identical school to Eastern Wash. The main difference being market, with EWU in theory being able to provide Spokane to the conf. Central is 110 miles from Seattle.

That's what I thought. Thanks for clearing that up Mpls! Holy crap, was I just civil to a Bison fan?? Aw, it's not so bad.

  6. And isn't their conference situation not that good since the NCC dissolved? You'd think their biggest rival dropping football combined with an already bad football confereence situation might have them take a close look at DI and the GWFC. I'm not sure whether there would be a viable DI conference for the rest of their sports though. But I agree Central Washington would make an excellent addition to the GWFC.

On the other hand, if Central Washington went Division I, they'd probably shoot for the Big Sky to renew their rivalry with Eastern Washington.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't the NCAA issue a moratorium against teams moving up to DI? I thought I saw that somewhere??

  7. From the UND website:

I'm listening to the Vikes on the KFGO website (while watching it, I hate Joe Buck) and it sounds like NDSU might cancel their morning exams tomorrow. Mayville already has done so and NDSCS is closed tomorrow. All Fargo, Moorehead, and West Fargo schools are closed. We have the wind and cold here in Gillette, Wyoming, but just a trace of snow last night. I kind of miss all of the winter storms that I was in while living in Grand Forks.

  8. There are two different issues being discussed in this thread...

    1. Boring and poor atmosphere at the Ralph.

    2. Darrin Looker's delivery of the PA.

Yes, there is an extremely dull atmosphere at the Ralph. Hockey is supposed to be loud, crazy and high-stimulation. The Ralph is a library.

Perhaps the people in charge of the game time operations need to review some issues and policies of game-nights. Start up an ad campaign or something to increase excitement. They should also review any scripts they give Darrin Looker, and have someone from radio or local performing arts places teach him about pacing, energy and excitment. They need all the help they can get.

An ad campaign to increase excitement? That's what the marketing department is for and in the last two seasons the Ralph has been full so they are doing their jobs....putting butts in the seats. It doesn't hurt that the product on the ice has been playing deep into the playoffs for the last 5 years either. So there is step one in improving the atmosphere, the joint is constantly sold out. Step two is getting the crowd involved and actually making them cheer. You can't put all of this on Darrin, in fact, I think Darrin does a great job. If you've ever talked to the man, you'd realize his love for this squad and it's tradition. There are other areas that need improvement as far as amping up the crowd (video prod, music, etc.). People realizing that they are at a hockey game and not a library would be a great first step in improving things, and I've said that since I moved to Grand Forks 5 years ago.

  9. Last year I saw every game from the press box, obviously yelling and cheering isn't allowed up there, at least my pass said so  . When the Ralph was hopping, it was deafening, unfortunately that didn't happen so often. Now I no longer live in ND and I'll get to see one game this year from the seats, that being Saturday night against Cornell. I'm not sure what the fans are like in the section that I'll be sitting in but I know I'll try to be as loud as I can, and I'll stand up and cheer for my favorite team. Anyone who doesn't like it can go back to their house and watch it on TV. There is NO REASON for the Ralph to be as lame as it is. If you want to be seen, go hang out at Marilyn Haggerty's house!

  10. Denver and Minnesota just faced off in Denver. I'm a little pissed at the fact that FSN-Rocky Mtn is carrying the FSN North feed, so I get Wooger and Brown-nose tonight. Bozek just about put one past Kangas, missed off the crossbar. They are saying the building is half full there tonight because Denver is on semester break already, until after the 1st of the year. GO SIOUX.

  11. It's true that the political signs in ND have to be down by midnight. It's not political signs that I'm sick of, it's ALL of these stupid political commercials on TV. Being in the Denver market with Colorado being a battleground state, it's been almost unbearable. I can't wait until it's over, but make sure you vote!

  12. Actually, they could plug Paul Charchian into the Dubay slot and wouldn't miss a beat. Unfortunately, the college hockey talk would go out the door, but every other aspect of the show would be improved. I can't think of any other current KFAN personality that would be a better fit.

Charch is the last person who I'd like to see take over. He is awful. Gaard is warming the seat up for his eventual takeover. Knowing Jeff, I wish him all of my best and hope and pray that he can get his life on the right track, however the legal process shakes out. Hopefully this arrest is a huge wakeup call for him.

  13. When the Sioux play home football games the noise level at the Alerus is deafening. In competitive games every 3rd down for the opponent is a real challenge for them. The opposing teams have lots of procedural penalties. The game at the Fargodome today was very quiet . The announcers even commented on how lousy the atmosphere was. It was a huge game for NDSU and the crowd was mostly quiet by Alerus standards. You could almost hear the quarterback signal calling over the television. UND might not have as many people at the Sioux football games but we can be very proud of the vocal support we give our team. We don't boo our team like NDSU fans did a week ago against Southern Illinois. UND ia 4 years behind NDSU in the transition but the future looks very bright for UND football.

While I agree, I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank you for opening this specific can of worms. Haha. When do we start the countdown to the invasion of the trolls?

  14. I think that it's quite funny that there is a thread about the bison game on this message board. After all, you are all the same bunch who rip bisonville for this sort of activity. what is th word i'm looking for.......hmm....oh yea. Hipocrite.

A couple thoughts from the game:

    1. the bison won a hard fought game and should have won by much more. It doesn't help that we miss 3 field goals and had multiple turnovers/penalties/miscues. for a team that was supposed to be good (in the Salukis), we played a subpar game and was able to come back and win easily. Good luck to the sioux when they play Dale and the boys in november.

    2. I love how the poster is talking about how "NDSU fans have not let the sioux go"..... I personally loved the t-shirts that said "sioux-lukis" and "got nickel" on the back of a southern illinois shirt. If anyone hasn't given up the rivalry it's you fellas. To come to an opposing teams game to see a headcoach who left the school (due to a highly disfunctional) AD and President seems a bit foolish to me.

My response to those guys..... "Thank you for donating to NDSU Bison Football... Your money will be well spent"

Actually, moron, the word you are looking for is "hypocrite." I shouldn't expect much from an "NDSUguy." Did you check the score of the game? Do you really think that you won easily? You won by 8 points and trailed at one time by 20! That's not an easy win and any coach or player will tell you that! What is so wrong with going to a game between two other schools, especially when UND had a bye week and our very beloved former head coach was back in the state with his new squad? I don't know if you know this (probably not because reading a newspaper is a real chore at Moo-U), but coach left UND because he was approached by an established DI school. It had ZERO to do with the AD situation or the President situation, both of which he knew would be fixed before long. At UND we support past players and coaches even if they aren't with the team anymore. Your post, sir, is the most moronic thing I've seen on here all day. Go back to enjoying today's victory, and oh yeah, there is sh*t to be shoveled and cows to milk, you should get after that!

  15. DI kicker needed at FargoBohl A.S.A.P!!!!

I was a little thrown off by the kickers performance today as well. SIU's kicker was dead on, but I don't know what was going on with Biebeuh(sp.) In any case. A nice comeback by the Bison today. I'm sure Dale is not going easy on his players for their stupid second half penalties that really cost them the game.
