  1. Death of the sioux nickname? Sure looks like it. I think the jersey's look junky and boring. With the Sioux logo its worn with pride.

Do you really think that the guys on the football team won't wear their jersey with pride just because the logo isn't on there?? I seriously doubt that. I'm not sure what I think of the change yet. Guess I'll have to see them on the field celebrating a win over Texas Tech before I can truly weigh in on it!

  2. Very nicely put CM. I spent my Saturday evening out amongst friends for a little St. Patty's celebrating and was sporting my green Sioux hockey jersey. I received numerous compliments throughout the night and even talked with many people who said that they planned on rooting for NDSU. I told them that I was rooting for NDSU as well, it's just really hard to do as a Sioux fan. No more than an hour later, I'm standing there talking to my brother and a friend when a "gentlemen" wearing an NDSU cap walked by and yelled...."Sioux suck sh**!" He then proceeded to run away like the big man that he is. The this past week I have had real issues with bringing myself to actually be able to support NDSU because I truly feel that they are the most arrogant fan base ever. Thankfully the tournament committee changed that for me yesterday. I'm a die hard Kansas Jayhawks fan, have been for years. ROCK! CHALK!! JAYHAWK!!! KU!!!! NDSU, better pack a lunch.

  3. GO SIOUX!! Time to show off the McNaugton Cup! AZ is right on....it's time to punch a ticket to St. Paul! I'm off to Deadwood for a St. Patty's Pub Crawl. Wear green you say? SIOUX GEAR IN PLAY! GO SIOUX! Have fun tonight everyone!

  4. Fargo Mayor: GF got millions after city 'failed' in '97 flood, while Fargo penalized for success

Just caught this on the Herald's website. I was in elementary school in western ND in 1997 and I had never been in GF before. Our teachers constantly had TV's on in our classrooms showing the fight that the people in Grand Forks put up against that devasting disaster. Never for one minute did any of us think that the people of Grand Forks failed. Never for one minute did we think about not bringing clothes to school for kids who lost theirs in the flood. Never for one minute did we think about not donating canned foods and nonperishable items to people who lost the battle. I hope for Dennis Walaker's sake that he was misquoted when he said that Grand Forks failed. All it takes Mr. Mayor is one look at the pictures or video of the flood fight and quick trip through downtown Grand Forks and East Grand Forks to realized that the people of that region did one hell of a job. Don't call the people of the Grand Cities failures for the miraculous fight that they put up!

  5. Congrats to the Bison. This was the first Bison game that I watched all season and I had a feeling when they were down 14 that this is a team that could turn it around. Oakland had their chances but the Bison came up big. Best of luck in the big dance. I'll be watching Sunday night to see where you guys are seeded and who you are playing. Is there really a chance that they could end up in Minneapolis with such a low seed??

  6. Tomorrow (Tuesday), the Bison play at 7pm CDT on ESPN2. They will play Oakland University for the Summit League title and a berth in the NCAA. It should be a tough, tough game. OU stud player Kangas played tonight on a sprained ankle and turned in a dominating performance against SDSU. This one will go down to the wire.

I look at this NDSU team and I have to giggle for a little while because Lucas Moormann worked me over a time or two when I played against him in high school Rebounding against him and Brett Bauer was a chore, even when they were sophomores! Best of luck to the Bison tomorrow night......make North Dakota proud!

  7. I generally have a major disdain for the NDSU Bison....but I think that this is a story that all North Dakotans can get behind. Best of luck to Coach Phillips and his squad in Sioux Falls this week. Make ND proud!!

  8. There has already been a cut in drilling in Western ND, maybe not as much in the Stanley area and areas north, but there is now only 1 rig drilling in Bowman County. Unless oil prices go up again, there will be a drastic cut in production throughout the state, the Baaken included. This, of course, will mean that the intense revenue provided by the oil industry for the state will be cut back as well. I read today that there is talk of giving $100 million back to the ND taxpayers in a refund check kind of idea. It might be nice for those who receive the checks, but it could be catostrophic for the state down the road, especially if it isn't going towards something like education, infrastructure, healthcare, or property tax relief. You are right jloos, ND is not immune to the global economic downturn and we can get burned if we aren't careful.

  9. I like watching the FSN Rocky Mountain coverage better than FSN North because these guys aren't whining like two children who had their blankies taken away by mommy! GWOZ IS ON THE BOARDS!! This is making me giggle!
