  1. I think you missed the point. Notre Dame may be small in college hockey, but it doesn't matter when Versus/NBC's goal isn't to attract viewers from the relatively small market that is college hockey but rather is to attract as many viewers as possible. And Notre Dame will do that for them.

I do get it though the "Notre Dame" brand and what you are saying. I am saying I don't agree that just because it is Notre Dame playing hockey that a national audience would be able differentiate between the football team and hockey team which I think most people who don't follow college hockey would care less about. But I do understand.

  2. If you are talking college hockey, yeah, UND, DU, CC, and UMD fans would not be happy about having Notre Dame hockey on all the time. But if you are a general sports network, and want to attract as many viewers as possible, Notre Dame will bring way more eye balls then all of those schools. Obviously it shows that DU is in a large market and is also a prominent hockey school based on the number of games they are getting. So if UND, DU, CC, and UMD fans are happy not being on a fairly big time network because the big time network would want more game from the big time school (but less so in hockey), its hard for me to understand. There are two sides to every coin of course, and while it is nice that the NCHC didn't just sell out to Notre Dame, it also would have been nice to have Notre Dame over SCSU and consequently have more conference games on TV and the Conference Tourney (which UND likely does well in as apposed to Notre Dame) as well.

I get that Notre Dame is a big name especially for college football but not so much college hockey. I kind of figured though Versus/NBC would be looking at more of the eastern schools as they would for sure have east coast bias and larger markets in their favor.

  3. Yes, it does look like a shun job for the NCHC. When Notre Dame went to Hockey East, Versus/NBC Sports Net went with them. It figures that Denver gets a few (larger market) but I would have at least liked to see more of CC; kind of surprised that a Denver-CC Gold Pan game wasn't in the lineup. I was really hoping for more North Dakota road games, I guess.

Accordng to College Hockey News, the Feb 10th game at Duluth is on CBS College Sports, so that's one thing to look forward to.

Its not WCHA/NCHC, but there is always a silver lining and in this case that is more College Hockey on television.

If Notre Dame did go to the NCHC I don't see the NCHC fan base being to pleased with having to watch most of Notre Dames games on tv. I mean I am happy for their recent success but they would be low on the totem pole as far as how successfully they have been as a program. To a North Dakota, Denver, CC and UMD fan having Notre Dame games televised more is outrageous and would be unacceptable to most fans.

  4. Sucks how we have the best program, fans, and facilities and we get one game. We should start a petition to get Versus to add more Sioux games.

I hope this isn't the tv deal Faison and others have been trying to get. If so not sure how well that played out for us.

  5. TV Schedule has been announced:

Dec. 31 Boston University at Notre Dame, 7 p.m.

    Jan. 6 Dartmouth at RPI, 7:30 p.m.

    Jan. 13 Minnesota Duluth at Nebraska-Omaha, 7:30 p.m.

Jan. 20 Michigan at Notre Dame, 7:30 p.m.

    Jan. 27 Yale at Harvard, 7:30 p.m.

    Feb. 3 Cornell at RPI, 7:30 p.m.

Feb. 10 Boston College at Vermont, 7:30 p.m.; Minnesota at Denver, 10 p.m.

    Feb. 17 Dartmouth at Yale, 7:30 p.m.

Feb. 24 Boston University at Vermont, 7:30 p.m.; North Dakota at Denver, 10 p.m.

    March 2 Denver at Nebraska-Omaha, 7:30 p.m.

    Hockey East Tournament

    March 9 Quarterfinals 7:30 p.m.

    March 16 Semifinals 5 and 8 p.m.

    March 17th Finals 8 p.m.

Wow, good deal for Hockey East having its conference tournament televised. Also, Denver with three games televised.

So is this just going to be televising basically Hockey East games. If so LAME!

  6. And UND spends all of its money on servers for their online "students."

*Online classes are a complete joke. I have taken a couple of them, very little effort required.

Actually we do spend a great deal on servers that's because we run most applications for all other universities and colleges in North Dakota. I don't think to those men and women who are defending this nation abroad think online courses are a joke. In fact they have said the exact opposite and for professionals trying to further their education while also working 9/5 online courses are not a joke. They aren't for everybody but they certainly serve a purpose.
