  1. Just a random side note (rant) from sat's game:

When Howe was on the ice injured, some sioux fans right by us were cheering and clapping that he was down. I was so embarrassed by them. It doesn't matter whether the person on the ice is wearing a jersey from UND, CC, UMN, DU, etc. Its just some 19-20 year old kid out there. Don't cheer for the fact that he's injured. Show some class.

It's one thing to dislike the crest on the opposing team's sweater and whatever you think it might stand for. That's fine, but there's still a young man in that sweater, who none of us, for all intents and purposes, know on a personal level. None of us who have half a brain in our heads wanna see stuff like what happened to Robbie Bina, Tommy Pohl, and Jessie Martin. Inside the rules of the game, outside the rules of the game, doesn't matter. Kids getting helped or carted off the playing surface isn't cool by any stretch of the imagination. I would have hoped that someone called those pinheads out and told them to shut their mouths.

  2. I know we have about a month left in the season, but this is where I see the WCHA finishing at the end of February/early March. Of course I have green glasses on most of the time, so of course the Sioux will win the league....

    UND 28 42

    Denver 28 41

    UMD 28 38

    Nebraska-Omaha 28 32

    UMN 28 30

    CC 28 29

    AA 28 24

    Bemidji State 28 20

    MTech 28 5

    First Round Series:

    Tech@UND

    BSU @ Denver

    Mankato@ UMD

    SCSU @ Nebraska Omaha

    AA @ UW

    CC @ Minnesota

I was thinking last weekend after the series with UNO was over, that, looking at our remaining ten games, a 9-1 run (8-2 worst case scinario) was very realistic. I still believe that. I know we've got all bottom five teams remaining on the schedule, but you are going to lose some in this league. I absolutely love when we play UAA. In my opinion, they are the one team in this league that year in and year out can and will match us physically. And as a fan that aspect of the game, I get really jacked up for that series. And unlike the two "major metropolitan area" teams in the WCHA, you'll never hear, "Oh boo hoo. Big bad North Dakota plays to rough.' coming from the UAA camp. Dave Shyiak and his squad will always have my respect for that.

  3. A lot of thing in play here with our goaltending situation. Does anyone know what the timetable is (might be) on Gothberg's arrival? If Dell can continue his level of play and with Gothberg on the horizon, I guess I'm wondering what that does to Eideness' mindset for coming back for his "senior" season considering that he graduates this spring as a junior? Like most of us, I figured that Eidesness would be the man this year and obviously enroll in graduate courses next year so he could continue to play.

  4. Few observations from being at the game:

    1) No student section and a poor quality opponent=no energy in the Ralph. But kind of figured that would be the case.

    2) McWilliams is quietly developing into our best defensive D-man...he was great last night.

    3) With the woodshed beating taking place, was impressed with Dell's focus and concentration. That's what seperates him from BE.

    4) Even though Kristo isn't scoring, his overall game just continues to get better IMO.

    5) Hexy's shorty was a snipe, but him being on the ice make everyone he plays with better.

One other thing of importance on Hextall's shorthander that is not to be overlooked: MacWilliam blocked four shots in about a 20-25 second span right before the shorty. Two of which he took in areas of the the body where it was puck on meat. And then to get an assist on the goal.............that's just top notch!

  5. The games this weekend versus the Gophers have once again been dubbed for the "White Out". Fans have worn white the last few years against the Gophers and it will be sweet when people white out the Ralph again this weekend.

    Noooooooooooooooooooooooo. Let's do a "Green-out".

  6. I really like what they've done with those presentations. "In the Air Tonight" on Friday night, and "Where the Streets Have No Name" on Saturdays. I never get tired of watching those. It gets under my wife's skin a little that I always wanna be in our seats in time to see those. As far as the intro they play right before the starting line up, I'm not crazy about the symphonic ones. The one where they used the intro to "Wasted Years" by Iron Maiden was, musically, the best one by far.

  7. I would just like the list of quotes they use.

Here's one that just happens to be my favorite:

You can learn more about a person in an hour of play than in a lifetime of conversation.

    -Plato

  8. Has anyone mentioned North Dakota "Pride" with a group of lions as the mascot? Haven't they been finding mountain lions in the area recently? I agree that Flickertails doesn't cut it, but I also think it would be nice if it could mutate to be either ferocious (for official logo) and friendly (so kids will take to it as well).

I like University of North Dakota Northern Pike. State fish. One hell of a fresh water predator. There aren't a lot of colleges out there that go with the fish angle. Green, black, and white still work for team colors. And it has the same cadence as Fighting Sioux. I like it.

  9. I hope we don't take this team lightly; they have clinched a last place finish and have nothing to lose. They'll try to clog up the neutral zone and get some chances off of turnovers. Take care of the puck, do all the little things right and we'll finish up the regular season strong.

Friday night: UND 4, MTU 1

Saturday night: UND 2, MTU 0

    GO SIOUX!!!

    [/quote

On a secondary point to getting four points, if memory serves, there's supposed to be a big time possible recruit or two in town next weekend. Let's have those of us in the stands do a little persuading of our own. If you don't plan on attending due the the fact that it's Michigan Tech, give/sell your tickets to someone who wants to go. LET'S BE LOUD!!

  10. Central v Bismarck High in the state championship game. Also Cepis get credit for the game winner for the goofs. He just happened to be the last Gopher to touch the puck as the Duluth defender appears to knock the puck in his own net. Cepis (once again) acts like he's never scored before.

  11. It's great that you're going all out for the team. Me I'm changing hats. I'm sure it's significant to the team, but not as much as your efforts.

For my part, my black jersey just happens to be next in the rotation.................

  12. In the game I watched, it was all Sioux until about the 15 minute mark of the second. After that, we got b eat all over the ice. Does any one else think that Blood is getting a little to big for his britches with his new found puck handling skills?

  13. I agree with you here. I like the striping, but everything else about the jerseys sucks. The Sioux logo and print is to small, the white on white ND is bad on the home jerseys, and the green cuffs on the home jerseys don't make it look old school at all. These look like little kids jerseys that you would buy at K-Mart.

The good news is that I'll save myself a couple hundred by NOT adding to my jersey collection.

  14. :silly:

    Mine arrived on Saturday.

But, I have football tickets as well. Maybe they are sending out the hockey/football combos first...

I think they go out according to how much you give to the FSC. My wife and I are in the Century Club (the lowest one) and we've never gotten out tickets sooner than about two weeks before the hockey season. So I don't expect to see mine for a couple two three weeks yet.

  15. Duncan-VandeVelde-Gregoire

    Trupp-Toews-Kozek

    Hextall-Watkins-Zajac

    Frattin-Malone-Miller

    Martens-Davidson-Lamoureux

Frattin is FAR better than a fourth liner. I'm thinking Frattin-Watkins-Trupp. You've got Watkins to muck it up, Frattin to set it up, and Trupp to finish it up. Malone needs to play a little smarter. I was really excited when I saw his size coming in as a freshman forward, because I like big forwards that play physical, but half the time he takes himself completely out of the play trying to paste a guy into the boards.

  16. Mentioned once before but I'd like them to replace the black nets behind the goals with white nets. I've been to a number of rinks where the nets are white and it is so much easier to pick up the puck through the net rather than through the black netting.

Sell Budweiser or something besides Miller at the average stand.

Sell wine on the concourse. Just about every place I've been including the Fargodome sells wine along with beer in the concourse. I'm guessing this is because the liqour license is usually the same for wine/beer. I just know some people that can't drink or like beer so wine is a good option.

Stop making the average fan that goes to one of the end bars feel like they are inferior. Gees they watch you like a hawk like you're going to sneak into the other "restricted" area. I mean come on. I promise I'll just go back to my seat once you give me a drink.

I like coordianted cheers but please don't let us turn into the stepford fans from Wisconsin. They don't know much about hockey but man when their band starts playing do they know how to cheer. Let's do some coordianted cheers that all fans not just students can learn and do.

Make it ok for me to stand and cheer the last few mintues of a game when I'm tryign to fire my team up. Rather than having people yell at me to "SIT DOWN", let them stand up too and encourage the boys.

OH and did I already say I'd like WHITE nets!
