  1. I've lived in Mpls for 14 years and I have never eaten at Mickey's...I probably should, eh?

it was on Diners Dives and driveins and has been in a few movies. Plus not a bad price. This is greasy spoon at its best.

  2. I just thought Id throw this out there to see where everyone is planning on staying during the Frozen Four. I know hotels around downtown St. Paul are scarce, but have been looking around Roseville, Woodbury, etc. Hoping to stay at a hotel full of Sioux fans!

My wife and I are staying in oakdale(just north if Woodbury) at the best western. It is a nice hotel, very clean and I think a reasonable price. You will pay about 200 total for the 3 nights. We have a suite with a fridge and microwave which makes it nice for extended stays. I would have to say that the breakfast is below my expectations, but they do have a continental breakfast.

  3. Well, the tournament is in St. Paul, so I'd suggest staying there out of convenience. The St Paul Hotel is very nice and near the arena. The Holiday Inn is nice and is also right by the arena.

The Twin Cities is a large metro area, but the two cities of Minneapolis and St Paul aren't really that big, its the suburbs that make it large. Of the two, Minneapolis feels like more of a big city with a bigger corporate footprint downtown and the big University campus. St Paul feels more like a bigger small town and more "neighborhoody". Minneapolis feels more modern, and St Paul feels more nostalgic.

Public transportation is poor for a metro area with 3 million people. The light rail connects Minneapolis to the airport and the Mall of America, but doesn't yet reach St Paul (they're working on it). Taxis are also inconvenient compared to other cities.

Restaurants: lots of them- for a nicer meal you can do Kincaid's near the arena, but there are numerous bars and restaurants to fit the type of meal you're looking for. I don't think there is one place that I would say is "can't miss" or anything like that.

Minneapolis is known as the city of lakes, and there are several medium sized lakes around the city that are all connected. This chain of lakes is a park system and has parkway with walking, running and biking trails. If it is nice out, that is a fun option. Other things: There's a lot of art and culture with several theaters (Ordway, Orpheum), a professional orchestra, a few art centers (Walker, Minneapolis Institute), There's a children's museum, a science museum, two zoos, the Mall of America. Stillwater is a suburb that is an old river town and can be quite pretty with quaint shops and tourist stops.

Friday is opening day for the Minnesota twins, our major league baseball team. In downtown St Paul is the Science museum which is always a fun place. Last time I was there, King Tuts tour was there with a bunch of artifacts. If you are going to the game, one place that is a must eat experience is Mickeys Diner which is just north of the xcel arena. It is a greasy spoon, good burgers and other kinds of americana food.

  4. Double that and you'll still be low IMO.

My daughter and I are going.

I would love to see there be about as many as the final five but I don't know if there are that many available to the sioux fans. My wife and I got tickets 3 weeks ago and I think she is already packed and waiting in the ol Explorer already.

  5. My family and I will be sitting in section 216. Anyone know if they serve adult beverages at the X during the Frozen Four? I don't think they do due to NCAA regulations, but my wife says they do. Let me know.

    Go Sioux!!!!

If an adult beverage consists of a cola and ice, your in luck.

  6. Anyone know of anyone with an extra ticket?? I don't want to book a flight to MSP from CA if I don't have a ticket!

As of earlier you could still get single game tickets on Ticketmaster

  7. I am also looking for tickets to Frozen Four... 4 would be great (the kids can go), 2 will also work (just Mom and Dad)! Call 218-779-3409

To everyone looking for tickets, I would suggest looking at places like craigs list or USCHO. The face valu is 198 per 3 game set. Good luck and see you all in St Paul.

  8. In all seriousness, I think that this is THE game that will define our season. I think that the team will come out and show that last weekend was just one card in the hand. Why show the hand you hold when you have to play just one card. This is gonna be intersting. Do we have a royal flush or is this the ultimate game of bluff em, SIOUX YEAH YEAH!!!

  9. So you are asking 650 for the pair? that's about 250 more that everyone else on this forum selling tickets. And tickets are still available through ticketmaster.

I have seen them and got them at face value strait from the NCAA. There were still tickets available from Xcel as of this last week at face yet. From one Sioux fan to many others don't pay much more than the $198 face value.

  10. Ah yeah! Baby steps... Your team better not look past UAA or they could end up taking the Gophers to three games and possibly losing. If I was the UAA coach I would put a hurt on Minnesota's Pansies on Ice. I would hit them at every opportunity, If the Gophers started the after the Whistle crap I would oblige them, I might have the forward spray the goalie snow, give him an extra tap and hit C-Piss at every turn...

We saw what this kind of tactic did to the goofs against Tech a few weeks back. They got a fighting major and a bunch of penalty minutes. I totally agree, give the diver a reason to dive. Let Patterson know that you are into the game and intend on being at the xcel next weekend. I have a feeling the goofs are ripe for a letdown.

  11. Yeah, you weren't supposed to try to read that part. That's a scenario that has Yale get swept and lose a comparison; the format of the game results is what needs to be plugged into Whelan's PWR calculator. Just believing me that the scenario exists is probably a lot easier.

What, Nicky Whelan is a hockey fan too. ;) Now she is a mega babe in my mind.

  12. I don't agree with his switch of UNO and Denver. You're moving Denver (#5) into a potential regional final matchup with BC (#2), and giving Michigan (#4) a lower seed in UNO (#7). It screws up the bracket integrity too much.

Regarding UND vs. UNO, I've said it before, but I'd love to see Hakstol vs. Blais facing off on April 9th.

I do agree with the bracket integrity side to the argument, BUT I don't know if bracket integrity is what this move is about. I do see UNO in St. Louis for pure attendance purposes. GF to GB 600 miles GF to ST. Louis 875 Omaha to GB 570 Omaha to St Louis 440 This equals more fans in each regional. We all know the NC$$ is all about the students.

  13. I see that Moy may have seen the light about UNO traveling well in short distances. I like them in St. Louis, BUT I could see them coming out of that bracket. The Sioux could very well play UNO 2 more times this year. Am I correct in this way of thinking?

  14. I really have a feeling that they will be trying to send UNO to St Louis. That is a fanbase that follows the team to an extent. But by doing this, I think they get places in the Michigan bracket along with Notre Dame.

  15. Do we see Eidsness again this weekend?

    I say:

Friday - Dell gets the shutout (5-0).

Saturday - Eidsness wins his last in a Sioux jersey behind a strong defensive effort (4-1).

I think that we have seen Eids last game. Why would you sit the best goalie in the league?

  16. I can't believe that some fans are thinking that we should take a page out of the Ron Gardenhire book of playoff prep. There is no way that we should rest anyone. I totally agree with Yzerman that the team needs to play the lines and go for the wins. They need to lock up the #1 overall seed. There is plenty of time to rest this summer.
