  1. Miania injured for Denver. Took a puck to the inside of his leg on a blocked shot. Is the gopher/Wisco game on tv someplace? What are updates? Miani is back up again.

  2. Our defense looks a mess. I guess that is what happens when you experiment. Fineaghe must have been doing something right because we were playing better with those other lineups.

    Anybody have any ofther scores?

  3. What time would the Sunday game be if needed? I thought they started around 5:00 and am hoping it isn't 7:00 because that would make for a long 5 hour drive hometo the Twin Cities having to work on Monday the next day.

Thanks in advance for the info. because I couldn't find it listed any place yet.

  4. It's really interesting to watch all of the possible NCAA matchups as we go along. INCH always has us in the West at the X, while the guy from USCHO always puts us elsewhere. The only problem with us Sioux fans traveling well, is that they know this and will put other WCHA teams closer to home for attendance. It would be nice if we could pack the X two weekends in a row though!

  5. If we sweep, Denver sweeps and Wisconsin sweeps, we should be matched up with UM. I think that seems very likely. Saying that these are good rivalries and splits are possible with those two teams, we would still be matched up with the gophers. I think Duluth will split with AA because of travel and St. Cloud should sweep Mankato. This is what I had for the what if.

  6. Not very well.

Were you answering my question Whistler? It will be fun to be in the atmosphere, but I want to be able to see the entire ice and these were the best seats available when I got through. I am not too familiar with the new arena and have only been there a few times and it seemed like these seats would work.

    Thanks

  7. I try to avoid her articles. You could go to any local elementary school and find many a kid that had more hockey knowledge than her.

I used to enjoy reading the articles when the guy the past few years wrote them. Now it is just a bunch of information that we already know and it doesn't have a different twist or side of explaining anything. Why waste the space noting who the players of the week were? An update each week of the teams coming into the WCHA? Matchups by the numbers? These are all things that we already can find out on our own. The other guy used to get more inside information and gave more insight on issues.

  8. I am going Saturday! I wanted to go Friday, but then having to pay for a hotel would have been too much of a cost burden right now. Is there a get together for Sioux fans someplace on Saturday? If so, I might head up earlier to hang out before the game.

  9. Caution, positive thinking ahead!!!

I hope the players can use this time to get healthy and sharpen up. I know other fans are as frustrated as I am, but we need to stick with the boys and pull through this. Hopefully we can still make a run, but if not we know we have the talented players that will click very soon and into next year. Our league is very tough this year and we do have younger players, but we still need to adjust to how different teams play and can't make excuses. We need to step it up and somebody needs to emerge as a leader through play on the ice and who can carry the team on their back . Vandevelde started to take on this role this past weekend, but things just didn't work out.

I know that we will have many Sioux fans in attendance for St. Cloud and the team better play with some life and an edge to their game. We need to get back that swagger, confidence and heart that Sioux teams have shown over the years. We need to check Marvin and the rest of the husky puppies hard and frequently to show that we mean business.

As always, go Sioux and us true fans are with our coach and team through thick and thin!!!

On a side note, does the announcer bother anybody else when he says old time Fighting Sioux hockey? I think this is too much of a stretch to bring back the history and just sounds a little odd. I also preferred the way that Hennen used to do the goal announce and now it sounds too much like nah, nah, nah, nah, boo, boo, stick your head in doo, doo for the Scooooorrrrring. I guess I just like remembering the way things used to be when we would beat the old red and yellow Denver team by about 8 goals and frequently hear Panzer from Panzer combo and everybody chiming in and saying the names with the announcer.

    Oh well, Go Sioux!!!

Maybe we need to bring back the lucky green helmets and then a championship will come. We should have a throw back jersey day soon with the geometric logo. I don't think that has been done yet.

  10. Another interesting angle from aparch on USCHO:

"Welcome to the CCHA Super Six Format.

I wish your attendance the best of luck on Thursday.

The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth seeded teams better hope they don't go three games for their playoff round. Win on Sunday afternoon/evening. Bus home Sunday night, turn around and head to the cities on Wednesday? Uffda."

Players will be really tired by the time NCAA's happen and hopefully no injuries.

...On a side note, I noticed that nobody started a thread over there (uscho) for the games this weekend. Maybe that means we have people jumping off the bandwagon and throwing in the towel already. At least we know who the true fans are now that will stick with the team through thick and thin.

  11. im just surprised that they are cutting the third place game, strictly for monetary reasons. i realize that the final five has a nice ring to it, but noone can come up with a clever name for a six team tourney? wcha super six? there are endless possibilities if that is a sticking point. i realize the third place game has little meaning to those playing it, unless a win would help a bubble team get in and boost their pwr, but it is still a money maker for the wcha. i guess i don't get why they wouldn't have two games each day and try to increase the $$$$. also agree that moving the title game to sunday probably won't happen. either way, i won't miss the 3rd place game if they get rid of it, im just surpirsed their considering it.

It would be fun if they still played for 3rd on Saturday because then we would have something to do during the day. I guess then two teams would need to play a third game for the weekend and it might be more tiring with not as much to play for.

The more hockey the better and if the price wouldn't go up that much more for one more game (say around $25), I would be willing to pay for it.
