  1. Got me all figured out, do ya? I'm not having a hard time with an adult who is on probation for a previous arrest/conviction getting arrested within a year of the previous incident. I just think it's stupid. I also think it is naive to expect that something like this would not be in the media. Why would any of you say this is being "blown out of proportion"? What would be "in proportion"? As far as explaining any of this to my kids, I don't need to worry about it, because they don't care, they just want the Sioux to win hockey games. But if Oshie, or any student athlete, puts themselves out there as a leader and then shows they have feet of clay (twice now), then they should expect a little backlash.
  2. Triouxper, In the interest of self-improvement, I would like to know, in your enormous background of diagnosing mental illness over the internet, what is wrong with me (and others who seem to share the same mindset), so I (and we) can get the help you think we need. Thanks
  3. Please Obi-wan, enlighten me... Which part is ridiculous, the fact he got busted, twice, within a year, or that myself and some other people are disappointed with that fact? And, exactly who needs to apologize here? You are the only one I read throwing out insults...
  4. So, let me see if I got this right... Some folks on here are disappointed that TJ Oshie got arrested twice within a year, and in being disappointed with his behavior they are losers, because being busted for a D.C. and a minor in a bar is not that big of deal. Well, consider me a loser. When a hockey player comes to UND, he becomes a local celebrity of sorts. When that player distinguishes himself enough to become an on-ice leader and gain national attention because of his skills, he becomes even more of a celebrity. With that celebrity comes responsibility and, as Dagies stated, it really is not too much to expect that they avoid arrest for stupid s&!t. So yes, I'm very disappointed that TJ has screwed up twice within a year. Do I think Hak has handled the situation correctly? Yes, we don't know all the details, but we do know what the charges are and a one game suspension is certainly warranted until the case goes to court and there is a legal resolution. Is this issue going to stop me from being a fan of Sioux Hockey or rooting for Oshie when he is on the ice? Not a chance. But he has a whole shitpot of growing up to do to earn that
  5. I just received my "59 Retro Jersey from Ryan (AZSioux), and I could not be happier. Great quality and design and fits correctly. All in all, a great Christmas present for me. If he has any left, I highly recommend one for the Sioux fan in your life. Now, does anybody have a green jersey, size XL, number preferred (but not a deal breaker), with the old Blackhawk logo? Please let me know. Steve (Slamdance)
  6. Sorry to thread hijack, but... Help!!! Any Sioux fans in Orange County, CA know where I can see the games?
  7. "This ahole could not make a good movie if he had too." Sioux7>5 Mea Culpa dallassiouxfan, please direct my previous comment to Sioux7>5... "It was easy for him. He was just portraying how he is in real life..." dallassiouxfan Again, mea culpa, however, what a shining endorsement of his acting skills... "Ooohh, pleaz" star2city Ooohh, pleaz, can you say "Photoshop"? Again, what does Sean Penn have to do with whether or not we keep the Fighting Sioux name? To dallassiouxfan, I may have misquoted you, but a "dumb ahole" I'm not. However, when I was stationed in Hawaii, I was called a dumb haole a few times, is that what you meant?
  8. Yeah dallassiouxfan, Sean Penn is a horrible actor... Oh wait, didn't he win Best Actor for Mystic River? And wasn't he nominated three other times for Dead Man Walking, Sweet and Lowdown, and I Am Sam? You don't have to like the man's politics, but to say he is no good as an actor is just stupid. And, about his politics, he did more for the folks in NOLA than the entire Shrub administration. And what the hell does he have do with whether or not we keep the Fighting Sioux name?
  9. Yup, it's good to have connections...
  10. Yes, they still do. My brother works there and sent me a kit and a Red Pepper shirt for Xmas last year. I'm in SoCal (OC specifically) as well, so getting the Red Pepper fix was incredible. Best gift of the season.
  11. A little more important than a name change don'tcha think? http://www.americas.org/item_31666 (Full disclosure: I'm a liberal who comes back home to ND to kill defenseless ducks and geese and I don't believe UND nor the name "Fighting Sioux" is "hostile and abusive")
  12. In reading the last five pages of "friendly" banter, I would think it would be obvious that the rivalry is still going strong and I look forward to the Sioux going Bison hunting again.
  13. I've read all four pages so far and I have just one question... So, what's this thread about again?
  14. Very interesting thread. And since I'm bored you are going to get more info than you need. Lessee, born in Fargo, moved to North Hollywood as an toddler, moved back to Fargo, moved to Park River for a year, moved back to Fargo for a summer than moved to Grand Forks for the 6th grade all the way to graduation from Red River. Joined the Navy and moved to Cali and lived there ever since. My family still lives in Grand forks and I visit when I can. Both of my brothers attended UND, I, however, am now attending CSULB on the 20 year bachelor degree plan. Interesting (and somewhat disgusting) tidbit, at my last Sioux hockey game at the Ralph, I had the stomach flu and "booted" in the hallway on the marble floor, I couldn't quite make it to the garbage can, let alone the bathroom. I apologise for the mess. In honor of said "acheivement", my friends in GFK are making me a shirt stating, "I ralphed at the Ralph".
  15. Don't hot dogs give you gas? Just a natural progression.
  16. Good for you JFR! Just 'cause I like your posts, I picked Rutgers in my office bowl pool. If they lose, I'm blaming you Best of luck to the Scarlet Knights!

    Help!

Thanks for the link. A little off topic, but what does the "Lux Et Lex" mean?
  18. Just because I'm bored, a bit of trivia for all'ya'all back in my home state. Here in Orange County, CA, the "star" is used as an old criminal tattoo to represent the fact that you had done time in OC Jails, it is often used in conjunction with spiderwebs on the elbow, which meant you had done time, period. Now these symbols/tattoos don't have the same connotation today as they used to, but now not only are the throwback jerseys "hostile and abusive" they are using criminal symbology (sp?) as well. Wheee!!! Oh, and yes, SiouxMD is right, the Nike swoosh shouldn't be on the front, it should be on the hem like the CCM logo.
  19. Couldn't you have just said "REPOST"? I wasted a whole 30 sec. of my life counting on the 1st page.
  20. I've been trolling here for a while. The last time I posted I was at another location and I was looking for help in TV coverage of Sioux hockey out here on the left coast. As a GF native (a UND scholarship recipient, although I chose the Navy) and Sioux fan, I support keeping the logo and name. If the name is removed, I agree with some others here to not have a name or logo, just remain "North Dakota", and let the fans carry the tradition. My question for GrahamKracker is: What solution are you proposing? I have seen some well written questions written to you and KnowThe Facts and have yet to see you (or KTF) reply WITHOUT sarcasm or insults somewhere in the body of your response. How is that constructive or helpful? Please show me how UND is using the name "Sioux" in "hostile and abusive manner" and FSU, Utah, and Central Michigan are not. Please show me how removing/changing the name will help in changing the poor conditions of the reservations. Why is it such a big deal? I really want to understand your point of view, because I don't get it. peace
  21. Hello to all, Out here in CA, the Sioux game is being telecast on Friday @ 5p.m. P.S.T. on Fox Sports Pacific, so a decent satellite system should be able to get it. Being from G.F. it is enjoyable to read these posts (aside from some idiot's horrible syntax and punctuation, who shall remain nameless), and the different opinions expressed, some of which are so close to my own. With luck, this weekend will end in an uneventful sweep of the rodents as previously expressed. I look forward to submitting again and hopefully do not become redundant.
