  1. Indeed, it's a family venue. However, the parents around me were pretty busy laughing, including my mother-in-law.
  2. I thought the Kiss-Cam was the best I've seen. And yeah, the BREC is a great facility.
  3. I suppose us rural FTA folks will just have to hope that someone puts up a feed on JustinTV...
  4. That's him. Thanks Goon!
  5. Was at the BREC for the Grand Opening yesterday (saturday). Saw the Beavers play a green/white scrimage, which was fun to watch. Their first two lines are quick, and the Read line had some nifty ping-pong passing down low in the slot. They will work hard against the Sioux and generate *some* success. However...if we see the Sioux team that showed up last night against Alaska and played the body hard, crumpling several nanooks during the game, the Sioux will enjoy a nice WCHA road sweep. The BREC is a nice facility, congrats to Bemidji for putting together the funding and coming up with an Event Center for the Northland. Also, one BSU player wearing a white jersey #2 yesterday was pretty fast. No name on the back of the uniform (only one un-named)...new frosh. maybe? I'd be interested to learn his name if anyone knows.
  6. Purdue and Iowa will get their butts kicked.
  7. CCHA knows where the bread n butter is. And it isn't in Huntsville, or so we are being led to believe. Sad to see them turn away UAH and then grovel to Penn State. But hey...it's about money anyway...not hockey.
  8. Agreed Goon. The coaching staff's job is to train and condition the student athlete's to succeed at the NCAA level of play. Hak and Co. got this young team through a difficult schedule and put them in a position to succeed in their conference tourney and make the NCAA tournament. Some pretty good teams (Duluth for one) didn't get an invite. At tourney time it's everyone's back to the wall, and this team didn't play like that until their back was literally to the wall with 20 min. left. Yale came out that way in the first. Eids gave up a goal (second) by not leaving his skate anchored to the post. Zajac rang the pipe instead of scoring a goal. Yale worked hard for sixty minutes, the Sioux for about twenty five (some spots in 1 and 2 where they played hard, but not many). Coaching can't keep Eidsness's skate on the pipe, and can't will Darcy's shot an inch to the right. Bottom line is that the Sioux D held the top scoring offense in the country to 1 less goal than their average (3 instead of 4). Not bad, all in all, but it wasn't good enough to win when your not working harder than the other team for sixty minutes. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard, and that's what we watched yesterday. And this is really just paraphrasing what Mr. Lapoint said in the post-game press conference, and what you've stated above. Hak, Eades, Jackson...they all did their job this year, and put together a very good team with some very young players. I, for one, like this coaching staff and wish them, and the Fighting Sioux, all the best next season and beyond. The Quest for #8 begins again in six months and I really hope these coaches are still behind the bench, because I think that gives the Sioux their best opportunity to win it all.
  9. Feel free to explain the lower tone of physical play after that period break. I openly stated that my comments were supposition. Since none of us were privy to the conversation, all we can do is guess. And my guess is that *something* was said that directed the tone of physical play downward.
  10. There was an officials meeting with team captains on the ice after the first period. It was likely intended to keep the level of physical play down. If the ref's threatened five minute major's, that would take away the physical advantage right there. Not saying the threat happened like that, but the conversation was had, for sure.
  11. To Chris VandeVelde, Darcy Zajac, and yes...Chay Genoway... Thanks for all your efforts in a Fighting Sioux sweater. We know you wore the colors with pride, and gave us your very best. A McNaughton, a Broadmoor, two frozen fours, and four straight NCAA appearances. You will surely succeed in your every endeavor in life using the skills and work ethic you've shown at UND. Thank you for all the goals scored, draw's won, checks delivered, assists notched, games played, and memories made.
  12. I'd have taken a pp over that penalty shot of Zajac's anyday. Even though he DID hit pipe. 20 min. of solid Sioux hockey coming. These guys know enough to leave it all on the ice. GO SIOUX!!!
  13. Used to know...should know...better figure it out!
  14. Are we going to stand there and take that?
  15. PENALTY SHOT ZAJAC! PIPE!!! AARRGH!!
  16. That was a nice play by Yale. Dangit.
  17. Agreed! Time to get it done! GO SIOUX!!!
  18. Yale taking the blueline the last few minutes, and pulled a penalty out of Blood. Sioux need to come out flying in the second, establish their forcheck and pound that puck in the net! GO SIOUX!!!
  19. Rats. Missed a good 5x3 there.
  20. Sioux pp... LET'S GO SIOUX!!
  21. Great PK by Zajac and Lammy!
  22. Malone with the penalty! Time for a shorty!
  23. Gonna be a fight... GO SIOUX!!
  24. Getting excited... Let's GO SIOUX!!!
