A bit inline with this topic (or perhaps not) but will UND be back to their white sweaters for this weekend's home series?
Was the NCHC dark jersey thing at home thing in the second half of the year just a regular season mandate?

My how the mighty have fallen. Omaha's season could end this weekend; can't see Denver losing their stride.
I hope the top 4 teams get to the Target Center and that UND doesn't need to take this 1st Rd series to three games. I don't know if the CC team UND is facing this weekend is the same team we saw here 7 weeks ago.

Vs. Goldy in their backyard and then a date with Denver to go to Tampa? Yikes...that is not a bracket for widows and orphans.

Also worth noting that the #1 seed, and a first round win vs. CC (likely opponent) will put UND on the ice for the Friday afternoon game at Target Center, March 18.
thats how it went last year anyway to ensure "bracket integrity" and more rest for the top seed heading into the Championship.
Lot of hockey between now and then though.

NoDak vs Goldy; let's make that happen. 1st of four straight seasoms facing them and hopefully that continues indefinitely.
The intensity is the greatest thing for the players and fans and UND can make amends for they way the '12 and '14 seasons ended.
I just stumbled upon the 2008 game at Marriucci that ended in a 1-1 tie; followed by fisticuffs and handshake shenanigans. Who doesn't miss that?

Scott is a friend and former colleague. He will be missed. One of the most humble and nicest guys in the profession. It was never about him but instead always about the game and the athletes he called. Sad day in North Dakota sports.

Does anyone know if WDAY/Z Xtra is covering all QF games on TV Thursday? Memory serves they did that last year.
I think Minot will bounce back and that could make for a good SF game with RR. Personally I think GFC got the better bracket. Wish Grafton had made it; I always like watching them and their fans get behind the Class B town in a Class A tourney.

Some random musings from a witness to last night's win.
*UND dug out an ugly win and sometimes in a good/great season wins like this say as much about a team's character as the pretty games do.
*CBS line just hasn't seemed to gel since Duluth series in December. Ever since World Juniors/Injuries, this trio hasn't been at the level they were in the first half.
*Kudos to Duluth's D for causing some havoc last night. They are a desperate team who played a winning game; limiting UND's shots on goal. This game was huge for the Dogs, per Schloss, a win would have put them at 16 in pair wise, instead they are 25.
*Troy Stecher's physical and mental effort is among the best I have ever seen on this team. It doesn't appear all on this team are there and that needs to change now if we plan to watch these guys in April.
*St. Cloud is playing better right now. Crazy things need to happen for them to slow down, although NoDak has more games left at home (3 compared to their 2).

Sometimes there is nothing like a good beer. Man, I wish that was one of those times.

the "Battle on Blake" - the outdoor game isn't even on ROOT Sports last i checked. That's the Saturday game on the 20th.

Another option is WDAY Xtra for the Friday Night game. They picked up American Sports coverage of the Dub-Mish game and I think they are lined up to do the UND-UNO game at the end of the month (the one that is airing on American Sports).
They also show a lot of College Football games in the fall - some B and C level schools. It would be nice if they could pick up some College Hockey games from the East and show those from time to time....if there was an easy button to make all that work.

Easily my favorite rivalry series of the year. It seems a great many of our seasons have been made/broken on these winter trips out to Denver. I was there last December and it was a terrific time - I'd highly recommend if you are ever looking for a road trip series as the Colorado-based NoDak fans are terrific. There are plenty of bars around campus that make for good times before/after the games. Then again, downtown on 16th Street is also a blast but it is quite a few miles from campus.
I hope to catch these games where I can as I'll be traveling this weekend away from home. With Friday night's game on CBSSN and Saturday's on ROOT Sports, neither game is available for viewing via NCHC.tv

I caught the Red River/Central game on WDAY Xtra last night - wow, what a game.
It made me think back to how great some of these high school rivalries can be. Packed barn at Purpur, highlight goals, great saves, and an OT winner to help the Riders stay unbeaten.
West Fargo has talent and Minot/Century/Bismarck are solid but you'd have to like the chances of these two squaring off in the EDC Title and State Championship on February 27th.

Goon, I'd like to see some of the goals from the BU and BC wins last night if you don't mind putting some highlights up here.
Maybe it's the nostalgia of the old Gahden as a Celtics/Bruins fan, but I'm all-in when it comes to the Beanpot. It's College Hockey....on Monday nights.....in the dead of winter.
And while UND and St. Cloud State are turning heads out west, you have to figure that BU or BC (or maybe even Harvard) will be playing in Tampa in April. Harvard has a light schedule but if Yale and Providence have proven anything over the past four years, it's that supposed softer teams out east can still make a good run in the tourney.

Confirmed today that this is also the case in Fargo. WDAY/WDAZ xtra will be showing this game Saturday night. CableOne has this on channel 1028 or 1029 in HD.

One of my favorite rivlaries - always has been and probably always will be. Gwoz made for some great fodder for the matchup over the years and these two teams always seem to be there at end.
My only hope is that some d-bag doesn't act like a baffoon just before the national anthem this year.

I'm happy with the hockey coverage via MidCo and CBS Sports Net. My only beef is that I wish there were more games earlier in the season. They hit it heavy come February and I really like those doubleheaders. Cool to watch a Miami game followed by a Denver game (especially if UND is playing in one of them)

The last three coaches alone were at the helm from 1978-2015. They EACH won 250+ games, 13 conference titles, and 5 National Championships.

UND played the way a top seed should at home vs. an inferior opponent.
With such a large disparity in SOG early you knew it was not a matter of if, but when.
Good crowd atmosphere too considering this QF series has been light on attendance in the past. There were some residual student attendees and that added to the feel. 10,800 is impressive and I can only assume some non-regulars picked up some tickets. Everyone wants to see this team play because they could accomplish memorable things over the next month.
