I'm afraid it's too late to add anybody who would be good enough to actually contribute for the 2009-10 season. We'd probably be better off holding onto the scholarship for somebody to come in for the 2010-11 season. I think Nick Haugen is considered a combo guard, so by default he may have to run the point next year. I really don't like the idea of converting Bledsoe for his sr. year, and Monsebroten is a walk-on (and a sr.) and IMO just doesn't have the quickness to play a lot at this level.
Storrusten from Pelican Rapids? Maybe?

I wonder if President Kelley's office is preparing a public statement regarding the stabbing that occurred at the Red Pepper over the weekend? Considering it was a student from one of the more prominent schools on campus (aviation), I think he should email the entire campus like he did for a certain other incident.
Here's the link: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/113838/
He previously set a precedent on this type of occurrence. I wonder why he hasn't done the same for this instance?
-
He is a Sr.
My understanding is that Hanstad is only a sophomore.

How long until they cut away to the Double Dutch Jump Rope Championships?
LOL!

We got handled tonight by Duluth in many aspects. Could have been a worse score actually. Give them credit. Hopefully this wakes us up and pisses us off for the 3rd place game and the NCAA tournament.
-
That would be awesome to be able to bitch about, but I don't think it's going to happen. Either they're in on merit or they're out.
I sincerely hope and wish you were right. However as much as I hate to say it, I think it will come down to dollars and sense. I mean CENTS.

With a regional being in Minneapolis, I don't think there is ANY way that Minnesota doesn't get in, thanks to the NCAA.

Most of your questions could be answered by going to Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are available by package or by single game, the single game tickets went on sale recently. Ticket prices vary by location and by game. The single game tickets look like they are all $13 for the upper levels for all games. The rest of the single game tickets are $18 for Thursday, $33 for Friday afternoon, $23 for Saturday afternoon and $43 for Friday and Saturday evenings. Ticket packages are $66 for upper deck and $151 for all others. Of course you have to add Ticketmaster fees to all of these prices.
Ticket availability per game depends on who is playing. Minnesota games sometimes sell out, the others usually don't. But even the sold out games you can usually find a ticket. A few years ago I had a free ticket for the UND game on Friday afternoon so I didn't try to buy for Friday night and Saturday until Friday night. I walked up and was told that Friday night was sold out (Minnesota was playing). They had plenty of tickets for both Saturday games. I bought them and walked outside where I was offered a single seat on the lower level for face value before I could walk half the length of the building. Plenty of others were selling also. So you can always find a seat.
Thanks for the info, 82SiouxGuy. Very helpful.

It's like asking a packer fan to cheer for the Vikes if they ever made the superbowl or Rangers fans to
cheer for the Devils in hockey or Wake Forest fans to cheer for UNC or fans of Florida to cheer for Florida State.
Which begs the question:
Would any ndsu or UND alums who competed in the rivalry in the past actually CHEER for the other team? I tend to think no way in 'H' 'E' -double hockey sticks.
Maybe some former athlete alums from either side could answer that.
-
Regarding the bold above, I guess I'm just going to have to accept that there are some old UND and NDSU fans who are too ingrained in the bygone era of "blood feud" between the schools. We're just going to have to wait for your generation to die off.
Well, you might be waiting a while to get your wish and have me and some others to "die off". Wow, what an idiotic, dumb statement. You aren't employed by the Fargo Mayor's office by any chance, are you?
Do you even know how old I am?

I can't believe nobody has brought up Virg's commentary in today's Herald.
As much as I hate to say it, I couldn't disagree with Virg more on this. I have always been a big UND hockey fan, but on a national stage in terms of recognition, exposure and what it does for the school as a whole, it's not even close IMO. The "Big Dance" appearance is a way bigger deal than even winning the the national championship in hockey. Just having your name on the bracket is enough marketing to justify it. I would like to see numbers on how many people will see ndsu's name this year. "North Dakota State?..........wow, where did they come from?"......etc. The positives this brings to their university as a whole is too big to fully comprehend right now.
By the way, there is no way I could ever cheer for the bison to do well in anything. It's just the rivalry thing I guess. But you have to give credit where credit is due.
Go Sioux!

And then when UND and USD are added on a 7-3 vote?
I honestly can see this happening. NDSU, SDSU and WIU have no where else to go for bball. They're stuck with the Summit for now and if the Summit says, you WILL play football in the Summit, that's just the way it is.
-
If you actually cared about ND as a state, then you would root for a fellow North Dakota school when they're on a national stage, representing North Dakota.
Clearly you do not care for ND as a state, which you already admitted.
-
That's like Rush saying he wants Obama to fail.
Congrats, you just "one-upped" yourself.
-
It's pretty simple folks: you either support the state of North Dakota and therefore want those who represent the state to do well in front of a national audience....or you don't care.
A couple here have made up their mind that they don't care about the state of ND. Fine, thanks for your honesty.
I just want to make it loud and crystal clear that you don't support the state of ND.Trying to think of a nice way to say this, but I am having a tough time doing so. Anyways, here it goes:
Dumb comments.
-
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. I guess we'll see when UND and USD are added to the SL.
I'm gonna go ahead and dismiss it.

Thinking about going to the Final 5 next weekend for the games. Haven't ever been to them before, so this is new to me. A couple questions:
1. Can you buy single game tickets? Or do they have to be purchased as whole tournament packages?
2. If single game purchases are available, are they pretty easy to walk up and buy on gameday?
3. How much would single game tickets be, per seat?
4. How much are tournament packages, per seat?
Thanks in advance to anybody who has answers to any of these questions.

Grand Valley isn't FCS, though they should be.
Oh my goodness...

Would you accept a home/home with our return in 2012?
If we say yes, can and will you make it happen?
-
Can't remember the name of the site, but I found this list of schools with open dates for Sept. 12th. Any possibilities here ?
Fitchburg State - YUCK
Gallaudet - YUCK
SUNY-Maritime - YUCK
UW-Eau Claire - ICK
UW-Oshkosh - ISH
UW-Stevens Point - GROSS
Wesley - PUKE
Whittier - BARF
Widener - YUCK
Sorry for the snobby negativity, but I really hope not.

I actually don't mind the idea of black tops. Just as long as they aren't worn with the black pants. I think all black would be a bit too much, but I'm all for a 3rd black jersey. Does this mean there will possibly be a new helmet color too?

We have a game with Texas Tech from the Big 12. I would rather see us play Big 12 teams anyway, like Nebraska, Kansas, etc. if you are going to step up and play D1 teams you might as well play them against a good conference.
Not saying I am right and you are wrong, but I disagree with this sentiment. These games are played for paydays and recruiting, IMO. Regional recruiting in the upper midwest is your bread & butter. For this reason, I think playing the closest schools to your recruiting base makes the most sense. That's not to say though that playing teams from Texas and California might not help picking up a kid or two along the way from those respective regions.
I do like the idea of Nebraska because we are moving more towards recruiting that area harder.

^&%!&$@^!%
This nickname issue is killing us in so many ways. USD schedules 2 teams from the Big 10 that won't schedule us because of the nickname. Not to mention the Summit League deal.
