  1. Seeing that Arkansas St gave up 40 points in the first half against Alabama things could be a lot worse with all the hype the Washington offense was going to put on us. I'll take 17 points allowed by our defense. Now to get that offense going somehow.

I’d agree with that. I grew up in GF but attended NDSU. I never changed my shade of green though. Where you grew up really does effect your alliances as an adult. That being said someone who never went to either school or grew up in either city may have an identity crisis. Atleast when it comes to which school they root for. I misread your original post. My bad.

Cue Josh Duhamel. UND fan including having Sioux hats in his movies, now sporting a Bison hat and attended his first Bison game.

One thing that will be weird to hear when all the pre season articles start coming out is seeing phrases like "Und looking to make it back to the NCAA tournament this year...."  Haven't seen that written in a looooong time!!

Lets hope they never have to say that again. Time to bounce back and fight for that title. Go Hawks!!!

So one question that you fail to answer over and over and over and over again.  How is UND going to afford to play FBS football?  How are they going to afford to pay for increased scholarships, increased coaching salaries, cost of playing halfway across the country for most of its road games, cost to pay FBS teams to play in Grand forks, etc, etc, etc.  The cost increase to go FBS is in the tens of MILLIONS per year.  Considering UND's budget issues in having to switch conferences and drop sports, how the hell are you so confident??  Seriously?  Answer the easy question.  How is UND going to afford going FBS?  I'll hang up and listen.

    Drop hockey and hello Sunbelt.

  5. I see a pattern among a lot of posters on here. First SV posts about a school upgrading their facilities, followed up with the words "going to the FBS", only to have another poster say that nowhere in the article does it mention moving up. This is starting to get old. No one is buying the fact all these teams are moving up to the FBS or a new FBS conference will be formed.

  6. Not a bad place after our 3 win season and a win against a low grade FCS team. If we can play Washington close maybe we move up, get destroyed and we drop further, but I believe the SHSU game means more to the pollsters than a top rated FBS team.

Unfortunately I think you may be mixing up the North Dakota schools. UND has one FBS upset in beating Wyoming a few years back. I think most UND fans don’t have a whole lot of faith in this one being close.

Plus the only Michigan team NDSU beat was Central Michigan.

Montana hangs on late and beats UNI 26-23.  UNI loves stacking up those quality losses.

UNI can go 2-9 and somehow make the playoffs and stay ranked in the polls. I still love how we beat them in 2006 as a DII team.

Washington is not a winnable game. They are not a G5 team. The are not a bottom feeder P5 team. They are a legit FBS bowl game contender that was ranked in the top ten. You cannot compare Washington to any of those teams on that list.

I hope we can still compete against their 2 and 3rd string players but at what point do we get our backups in the game to get just as important experience?

Texas Tech finished the previous season #12, and Utah was #21 in their previous season, we should have gotten destroyed by both teams but losing by 25 and 21 is respectable especially against Texas Tech when we were in our second year of moving up. I never said the Washington game was winnable but losing by 30+ points may not be in the cards.

Enjoying a college game outdoors.... the band stays all 4 quarters... Nol Ioud music blaring from speakers. Does the UND band still play and if so how long does it stay? I have never been a fan of the loud music....

I like the music coming out of the tunnel, but after that let the band do its job. Gotta love Stand Up and Cheer!!

We need to pull our starters after the first half if we can’t keep it close. No need to get all beat up for a meaningless game. We need to stay healthy for Sammy because that game is critical for the rest of the season.

UND has kept some of the FBS teams close

2009 vs Texas Tech lost by 25

    2010 vs Idaho lost 45-0

2010 vs NIU lost by 6

2011 vs Idaho lost by 30

2011 vs Fresno St lost by 5

2012 vs San Diego St lost by 8

2014 vs San Jose St lost by 32

2015 vs Wyoming won by 11

2016 vs Bowling Green lost by 1

2017 vs Utah lost by 21

1-9 vs FBS with 4 losses by 1 score. 0-2 vs p5 teams 21 or less should be respectable, but to hell with moral victories.
