  1. He was at the wellness centre last week. He's gained a pile of wieght and isn't enrolled in school any longer. His career is over. Too bad, the guy was awesome.
  2. Check out the article about the O-line in todays Herald. http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/i...;section=sports I find it strange that the article would refer to Coach Mussman as having been the Offensive Line coach last year. Everyone who follows Sioux Football knows that Greg Lotusz ( sorry if I misspelled the name) was the Offensive line coach last season, and was a big reason why the Sioux offensive lines of the past years where so dominant. Someone somewhere owes Coach Lotusz an apology, or at very least an explanation.
  3. Some of the players choose to leave after they find that the academic course of study they have chosen is too rigorous, and football does not allow them to keep up with thier studies. Some realize it early in thier football careers than others. It becomes a very difficult choice for a 19-21 year old to make ,either working towards thier chosen career or football. I would say that the vast majority of the kids who left would have loved to have stayed if they could have. You do have some exceptions such as Mitch Braegleman and Eric Moe, those two guys are exceptional students who are able to succeed in a rigorous academic field and play football.
  4. Pete Hiltner and Nick Bylin are also missing from the roster. I believe Hiltner's departure was due to a lingering back injury. I seem to recall that Bylin was on the roster for spring ball, and has enrolled at UND for the fall semester. He must have had personal reasons for leaving the team. As for Simmons, he had good size and came highly touted, but he may not have been meeting the expectations some had for him. He may have recognised that and decided to move on. Sometimes great success in High School stems from the system the player played in and/or the natural gifts a player has. When stepping up to the next level, tougher competition, under a different system, those natural gifts are not enough to be successful. I'll just throw this out there as well. Would the departure of Greg Lotusz been a factor in the loss of these O linemen? I know from talking to some of them that he was probably the most popular and respected coaches on the team.
  5. I think that poster was refferring to FERPA. Even parents who pay a student's tuition can't access that student's grades due to FERPA regulations unless the student signs a waiver allowing them to do so.

    Stroup

As I said in my earlier post, apparently when Coach Lennon was still here he had several discussions with Bobby about his off field conduct. That aside, there is no excuse for what Bobby did. We are not talking about some poorly educated 13 year old with a bad family upbringing here, this is an adult who is attending college, and comes from a family with well respected parents. He made a deliberate desicion to do what he did, and he should be held accountable for those actions. Blaming the system for "allowing" him to behave badly is ridiculous. Mr Stroup will have to pay for what he has done. Once he gets that behind him I hope he learns from his mistakes. If he changes his attitude I hope that a coach somewhere will take a chance on him and give him an opportunity to play again. He was an exciting and very intense player who I enjoyed watching very much, but he has brought shame to the program here and must move on.

    Stroup

During Spring Ball, Coach Mussman indicated that Dan Hendrickson had really stepped up and elevated his game. He's only a redshirt freshman, but maybe he deserves a chance. Last season I had some conversations with a Sioux player regarding Stroup. I was told that many of the players felt that he was an extremely talented player but where concerned that he was somewhat of a "loose cannon" whose behavior was eventually going the get him in trouble if he didn't learn how to control himself. Apparently Coach Lennon had several discussions with Stroup about his off field issues, and had put Bobby on a very short leash as a result.
  8. Bison Dan you are like a hair in a good bowl of soup. Why don't you go back to Bisonville where you will be appreciated?
  9. Attending University on an athletic scholarship and playing football is not a right, it is a privilege granted by the institution at which the athlete is enrolled. When these athletes entered the program I'm sure they were made aware that their scholarships could be terminated for any number of reasons, including conduct which would bring the football program and University into disrepute. These athletes chose to abuse the privilege, they knew what they where doing was wrong, and if made public would certainly bring the institution into disrepute. They should be ejected from the program , and their scholarships terminated. The institution need not abide by the "innocent until proven guilty" standard.
  10. Playing football at this level and being sucessful with academics can be very tough. The decision to not to play any longer must have been a tough one. It's too bad he couldn't have stayed with the team. Best of luck to Andrew!!
  11. I noticed 2 Offensive linemen, Dylan Glaser and Andrew Urbaniak where not on this years roster. Last years roster listed them as either redshirts or freshmen. Anyone know what happened to them?
  12. Last night I watched the open forums with all of the candidates on the Montana News site, with the exception of Van Diest, whose forum was not yet posted at the time . Coach Lennon was in a league of his own. He exhibited all of the qualities that you want to see in a College coach. Van Diest would have to present very well to beat him. I agree with the other posters, Lennon is the best candidate, but in State politics in Montana seem to be playing into this situation. My guess is that Dale will accept if offered the job, but my hope is they offer it to VanDeist.
  13. Hey Walrus, you seem to be in the know about whats going on with the Team! Whats happening with Hendrickson? Is he still going to be part of the program after his run-in ( or run-ins) with the Law? From the previous posts it looks like he doesn't really fit the profile of the type of player Coach Lennon recruits. I would guess that any current player who got into the situation he got into would probably have his scholarship terminated.
