  1. Not all that sad to see it go. Average to below average food and poor service every time I went there. At least now I can cross it off my list mediocre of restaurants 'Forkers are in love with.

I'm sure I hit it at a bad time...but here's to hoping that if someone does revive it, they do it right.

  2. The first few years, Hak and the teams had very poor showings at the Final Five. (Didn't we go winless for a couple years there???) Well they turned it around and we won last year from the play-in game.

It never ceases to amaze me how people lose their minds when the team loses a game. I hope they tell those players not to read anything on here or else they would all turn in their jerseys and go pro.

Holding the team to a high standard is great, but you have to realize that there have been a lot of close calls and bad bounces to cost us potential NCs in the past 7 seasons. We're not going to be undefeated champions...there are too many good teams and players out there these days. A loss like this is a great way for the team to remember they have to bring their best every night.

  3. The show is being produced by the UND Television Center, which means it will be an outstanding program in terms of quality. I got to see a few of the stories they've been working on and it should be an interesting show; both for fans of Sioux hockey and anyone else who happens to tune in. It will be a great thing for gaining positive exposure for the hockey program and UND.

  4. You wanna know what really grinds my gears?

Students who are charging ridiculous prices. If you have student tickets, they have to have an ID used with them...so the guys scalping these tickets are selling to FELLOW STUDENTS at these ridiculous rates. The Ralph was kind enough to let us buy 4 tickets per ID so that if you and some friends wanted to sit together, you could. However, many have taken advantage of this and bought 4 tickets planning on selling off two or even all of them. Personally, I know a handful of students who want to go to the games but cannot because of these people who bought up the student tickets and are now holding them hostage for outrageous amounts. Hopefully they can't sell them and end up getting rid of them before the game at face value, or else we will have a lot of empty seats this weekend.

  5. I think a lot of people need to learn that the game doesn't end when we're down by two goals...or one for that matter.

JUST BECAUSE WE'RE LOSING DOESN'T MEAN WE'VE LOST! Fans who leave early deserve to be booed.

When you buy a Sioux hockey ticket, you're not buying a ticket to watch a game - you're buying the right to be recognized as one of "the greatest hockey fans on the planet".

  6. Kind of like Winona State in the NSIC? Remember all of the times that we used to crush them in the 1st round of the playoffs? :(

From 2005-2007 we outscored Winona 186-10 over four games.

  7. 350 tickets sold, another 100 ordered. This team will have close to 500 in our building. THAT is impressive.

Impressive for a team that has averaged 3,000 fans over three home games.

No doubt they will bring their "A" game. The wins are impressive statistically, minus the fact that they've played a bunch of nobodies. (though I'm sure Northern Iowa fans said the same things about us in 2006) IF we can get some people to show up and pack the house, I think that crowd noise could be a factor.

Additionally, through 6 games they have 13 fumbles. (though only four lost) I expect that the team has been hearing about that stat this week and will look to cause some turnovers. I mean if a team averages over two fumbles a game against lackluster opponents, we can certainly hope for that trend to continue this Saturday if not increase.

  8. I was recently home in Raleigh, North Carolina visiting my family when an ad in the sports section caught my eye. The University of North Carolina is having an alumni game to kick off their 100th season of basketball. Given their storied history, there are a lot of noteworthy former players that will be playing in the game.

This got me thinking - given the success of our program and how many quality hockey players have come from here, why not have an alumni game? It would be a great way to kick off the year and/or fill the off season. All of the proceeds could go to a worthy charity, much like what UNC is doing.

You can read about the Carolina game here:
