    Big Ten schools:

December 12 (Thursday)- Michigan vs. Wisconsin 1:30pm
October 29th (Thursday)- Penn St vs. St. Lawrance 6pm CDT
January 28th (Thursday)- Penn St vs. Michigan 6pm CDT

January 17th (Sunday) - Michigan vs. Ohio State 4pm CDT

March 6th (Sunday) - Michigan vs. Ohio State 2pm CDT

October 22nd (Thursday) Michigan St vs. LSSU 6pm CDT

November 22nd (Sunday) Michigan St vs. Michigan Tech 3pm CDT

November 29th (Sunday) Michigan St vs. North Dakota 2pm CDT

Having it happen 8 times is not rare, having it happen ONCE or Twice is rare... My point being (outside of playing Thursdays and Sundays) is, I don't want hockey to be taking a back seat to other sports and that is what is happening to the B10. I understand that hockey isn't a big revenue sport for the B10 but for us schools that are used to it being the sport on campus, to me it doesn't make sense to make that jump and be shuffled back down into obscurity.

I would be against playing in the B1G...but to play devil's advocate here, your list only includes 4 B1G conference games. The other 4 were OOC games, where scheduling is at the discretion of the teams involved. Here were the NCHC Conference and OOC non-F/Sa games this year:

    (1) NCHC:
    Thu.2/18/20167:00 MT(10) Denver4@Colorado College1

    (6) OOC:
    Tue.10/13/20157:00 ET(10) Bowling Green1@Western Michigan4
    Sun.11/29/20153:00 ET(5) North Dakota4@Michigan State1
    Sun.11/29/20156:00 CT(7) St. Cloud State7@Minnesota4
    Sun.12/20/20152:00 CTArizona State0@(6) Nebraska-Omaha
    Wed.12/30/20155:00 ETWestern Michigan1@(12) Bowling Green0
    Sun.1/3/20165:00 ETRensselaer2@Miami4

*BSU and UMD played on a Tuesday, but I didn't include that as it was a makeup game outside of normal scheduling.

  2.

You need to practice your PC skills.  I think it's offensive that you segregate women based on their size as "normal" or not.

See how this game works?  Nobody wins and nobody ends up happy.  Nobody is truly going to get hurt from a silly chant.  If your mental capacity can't handle hearing a chant as PG as "Husky women", there are much bigger issues at play.

Thank you for taking an otherwise fine discussion and making it personal.

  3. For the record, I've never participated in the cheer.  Mostly because I always thought it was a silly college kids cheer but I guess I never equated it with shaming women. This is the first I've heard someone mention that and I know other people thought it was directed at the men's hockey players.

It doesn't "cause trouble" like you're referring to for me, I just wonder if we're reading into a silly college chant a little too much.

Unfortunately, I've heard it in St. Cloud in years past while only the cheerleaders were on the ice, which is perhaps why I'm a little sensitive on it.

Yes, I would say it around my boss, wife, mother, daughter because it's a joke and none of them are offended by a joke. Because it is, well a joke. Get it?

It's a joke, yes. But it's a joke that makes a punchline out of women who are bigger than normal. I just don't think that's ok. And beyond that, it's a tired joke, time to give it a rest.

  4. Wrong.

If rumor is true Kelly threatened to drop committee if they didn't drop it. Why have a Committee? @SchlossmanGF

    Brad E. Schlossman‏@SchlossmanGF 11h11 hours ago

    @Pistol66 Not true.

That whole exchange was spurred on by tweets from @UofHockeyBlog (the tweets are now deleted) saying that Kelley was at the meeting and threatened to disband the committee. Schlossman isn't the ultimate authority on Mr. Kelley or even all things UND. He was just commenting on this rumor that Kelley was at the meeting and threatened to drop the committee. Try again.

  5. I'm not in the "no-nickname, stay Sioux, or die" club, but this quote from committee member John Bridewell says a lot to me about how much President Kelley has had his hands in matters behind the scenes, out of the public eye.

UND Professor John Bridewell, on the other hand, was one of seven committee members who ranked it as their least favorite option and said faculty didn't want to move forward with that.

"President Kelley, if we send him North Dakota, no nickname, I think he could just disband the committee or just say we could start over or he could just veto it," Bridewell said.

    http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/education/3801860-undnorth-dakota-out-committee-forwards-5-nicknames-public-vote

And to this post, all Schlossman confirmed was that Kelley wasn't at the meeting. Nobody has been able to (or will be able to) prove that Kelley hasn't been whispering in committee ears all along.

Unless you have new information, you're repeating something that has already been debunked multiple times.  Schlossman, among others, have confirmed that this is false.

  6. I forgot another favorite - "Glow Stick Night" vs. Wisconsin

The Ralph decided it would be cool to give everyone a green glowstick to wave during player intros, and it looked pretty cool, especially when they started raining down on the ice.  :p  I remember it was one from the upper deck, then a couple more, and then the floodgates opened up and what felt like thousands rained down. I'm pretty sure someone managed to throw one inside of a Wisconsin player's face mask.

  7. My favorite moments, in no particular order:

-2007 West Regional OT winner over Goofs

-Kyle Radke beating the snot out of a DU player between periods

    -Dasher Dance

-2010 playoff series vs. Gophers (Frattin's demolition derby & throttling them twice)

-2008 West Regional comeback and OT win over Wisconsin

-Trupp's OT winner batted out of the air vs. the Gophers

-Last year's shorty OT winner vs. Air Force

-Doug Woog vs. Dean Blais Bubble Hockey

  8. I thought of another big screen feature that is no more:

"The University of North Dakota is the home of the Fighting Sioux. UND chose the name Fighting Sioux in the 1930s, because the Sioux warriors were the most courageous of all warriors. The great Sioux nation epitomized honor, courage, pride, overcoming adversity, and winning battles. We ask tonight that you would cheer your team to victory, and exhibit good sportsmanship, as well as respect for the American Indians and their proud and honored culture and heritage. Thank you."

  9. I had completely forgotten about "Beer Lady"/"Beer Grandma" until this morning, which got me thinking, what other sort of in-game features have been a part of UND hockey games in the past that we're forgetting?

    I'll start the list:

    -Beer Lady/Beer Grandma

    -Cowbell Guy

  10. I don't have any data, but wouldn't you think many of the students who take over 4 years to graduate do so because they've changed majors, and not from some lack of effort by only taking 12 credits a semester?

There is a 0% chance UND would suggest such a move if it wouldn't raise revenues, and raising revenues means more debt for students. No matter how they frame it, it's a bad deal for students.

Answer me this - if a student is taking 12 credits now, how does this motivate them to take 15? If they aren't taking 15 credits when those extra 3 are free, why would they pay MORE to take them?

  11. This is a disguised maneuver to raise tuition and a very deceptive tactic by the administration. More reading on this:

    http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/education/3711205-und-mulls-changing-tuition-model

    http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/und-proposes-massive-tuition-hike/

IMO - UND's tuition is what keeps it a great value. Without such a great tuition rate, the university probably sees fewer enrollments from the cities and other areas. I've known many people who came purely because the price was much better than other regional universities. This feels a lot like taking from many to benefit a few at the university.

  12. I'll admit to being frustrated with Hak's lack of championships - however, in his defense, we've gone into the Frozen Four with some pretty good goalies - at least two on the Hobey Baker list - and have had some uncharacteristic and monumental meltdowns.  I can't think of a time when we had a goalie stand tall or play even to or slightly above his talent.  What gives with our continued goalie let downs?  The names change, but the results are the same.

Zane last year. What was a letdown about his performance at any point in the tournament?

  13. I realize you are trying to prove a point but that is the stupidest thing anyone has ever said at anytime.  Reel it back in a bit, chief.

Who would you rather have coaching the team? I like having a program alumni behind the bench, and I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have there. You bring an NHL coach in here and they might have more experience at a higher level, but they aren't going to respect the program like an alumni and they aren't going to do any better than Hak. The only thing missing from his resume is a natty, and while that's huge, I'd still take where we are at as a program over having a natty and a handful of losing seasons.
