  1. I hope FSSN picks up the game tomorrow night!! How can we get them to get the feed from TVWisconsin? I remember a few years ago the Cheesemover ( Joe Sensors bar) had the game on and the feed was from Wisconsin. Maybe he can pick it up again. Fingers crossed!!! GO SIOUX!!

  2. Is this official?

Hi Goon, I would assume it is offical because it is on the FSSN schedule. There was a link on here earlier that listed all Sioux games FSSN was going to carry. Both Alaska games were listed for this coming weekend.

  3. will these be on FSSN?

Yes, the games will be shown on FSSN. The games are not produced by FSSN, but they are produced by Alaska Anchorage Student TV station and FSSN picks up the feed. The quality isn't great, but you get to watch the Sioux live from Alaska!! Go Sioux!

  4. MUCH better picture on Free to Air satellite : )

Especially if you do what Sprig just did, he got himself a TRAXIS DBS 4000 and he uses the HDMi output direct to his Big screen TV

    ALMOST HD Quality

Free to air satellite is First generation, DirecTV's picture is 2nd or 3rd generation and then squished to fit in with another 50 digital channels on the same transponder! For Free to Air a full transponder is used for the broadcast, result is a MUCH better picture.

I couldn't agree more with the picture quality on an FTA system. I had PSB install my FTA satellite last fall and the picture quality from my FTA satellite was 100 times better than Direct TV's picture. I don't have as nice of a system as Sprig, but I do have a fixed FTA and my picture for Sioux hockey games is nearly HD quality. FTA is much better than what you will pick up with Direct TV. That's just my opinon though.........

  5. The REA is a private entity. They are not part of the settlement.

And, until something changes in the setup for postseason hockey, the REA wouldn't host them anyways since the NCAA is trying to stay off-campus.

Yup..that is correct!! The ncaa is trying to move all post-season hockey games to neutral sites. If that's the case...keep the REA as is. It's important to many alumni that we do not forget that we are and always will be the Fighting Sioux! The REA is a perfect sanctuary for us to remember the Sioux logo and name! Even if we have to change the center ice logo down the road, the Sioux will always be present in our building!

  6. If the SBoHE wants to keep the nickname, then they would make a statement to the effect that they are going to give the tribes the full available time up to Nov. We are now 7 months from the deadline, it would be idiotic to terminate the name at this point.

If Murphy was really in favor of the nickname or at least letting the tribal members vote on it, he would have issued a statement that the tribal leadership will work towards a vote on the issue if the SBoHE will give them the full amount of time, Nov. 2010.

The fact that neither side is willing can only mean that both sides want to terminate the name but don't want to be blamed.

If SR would schedule a vote on the nickname, IMO, there is no way in he!! that the SBoHE would terminate the name early. It would be a political disaster.

Pretty sad when you have leadership like this. By every possible measure, a sigificant majority of the tribes and the general population are in favor of keeping the nickname. The leadership of the SBoHE and SR seem to be doing everything they can to ensure that the name goes (while avoiding the blame).

Both sides are just trying to was their hands of the situation. It's really stupid and unprofessional in my opinion. I'm so sick of the situation, but I can't give up hope on the SIOUX nickname! I'm a diehard fan and will be very dissapointed if we lose the nickname!

  7. Hey Sioux fans!! In case you don't want to attend the alumni party.....Eagle Street across from the X has a beer garden in the back lot and they will be serving 2 for 1's all weekend long (at least they did last year and it's set-up right now for St. Patty's day)!! They did this last year and it was a blast! May not be the most family friendly place to take the kids, but if you're looking for a good time with live music....this is a fun bar to go to.

    GO SIOUX!!!

  8. I know we got hassled for a 3'x5' flag last year by a powertripping security guard. We got it in fine (they even had us show it to them) and no one said anything except for the 1 guy in the concourse.

I tried a few years ago to bring a Sioux flag inot the game on a pole (not a very big one) and they took the pole away from me but let me bring the flag in. Here is the link to the excel website guest services. It does not say anything about bringing a flag in on a pole, but if it's a gopher security person working.....you won't be getting either in!! :glare:

  9. Okay, for us that have to work on Friday so we can't travel to the cities for the Thursday game, will it be televised? With Minnesota not being involved, I can see FSN having the Wild or the wonderful Timberwolves on instead.

I could be wrong, but I believe that FSN will be covering all the games regardless that the goofs are not there. They have a contract to cover all these gaems year after year. So it should be on TV.

  10. I was wondering is there TV for this series?

Yes...there will be TV in the Twin Cities area. I have MediaCom and the games will be on Channel 10 both nights. I'm not sure who your cable provider is, but it will be on some cable networks in the Twin Cities.

I believe the MediaCom channel 10 is the Charter One network. I sometimes watch UMD, SCSU and the Purple Cows play WCHA games on this channel. Two weeks ago I was able to catch the Denver vs. Wisc game on this channel as well.

  11. Tickets are also available through ticketmast for Saturday's Goofer/Sioux game!! They are general admission seats in the upper bowl of the student section. I am sure that you do not need to be a student because you are paying full price for these tickets. Students pay $10 per ticket. Printed on the ticket will be the paid amount of $42.50 (or whatever they cost), so if you are given any trouble entering the game you will be able to prove that you paid the adult full price. Or just call the Ralph to confirm this. GO SIOUX!
