Direct me to proof that he was whining? You really think that he doesn't want to get the extra rest into his team before playing the winner of the UND/Michigan game the next night? I believe it is to the gophers (or the #1 seed in any case) who WANT the early game. Check the schedule. The #1 seeds all play the early game. I don't think anyone was whining about having to play the early game.
WHINING? Odd, considering we pretty much knew for the last few weeks the chances of us NOT going to GF was pretty low...and I'd RATHER have the extra rest, to further beat up on the team that comes out of the evil "M" and UND game...

The rule is ammended now for host schools. Additionally it is a classless move, and as much as we like to rip the rodents, they are a class program and so is Delta Don. Why would any team in their right mind give a top-end opponent another reason to want to get out there and kick some a$$?

No, they don't care if we tailgate in front of the Old Ralph Engelstad Arena. This is our second season of gating for the big tilts and the UPD has driven by us several times and has never bothered us. It is a great time, we are tenatively planning on a 400pm start on Sat. All are welcome, even Goofer fans as long as you are respectful as you will be standing on hallowed ground.
P.S. BYOB and food if hungry, we will have a grill!!
we'll have a crew to stop and have some fun then. Just to clarify (never been to GF), is the Memorial lot the same as the old Ralph? Warning tho, there WILL be a Gopher flag on a flag pole (as well the Stars and Stripes)!

But we did start tailgating for the Final Five at 9 AM and went till 7 PM..... W

I am pretty sure that ther ea re a few Gopher fans that would enjoy a good tailgate and a few rounds of BeerDarts (of course assuming we play Saturday, which we should be doing, as well as UND). Noting better than tasty animal parts, BeerDarts, cheap beer and a bottle being passed around for a pregame....
What UND fans are up to the challenge? 37 degrees sounds downright tropical, considering we tailgated all winter for Gopher games....that Denver series, the beer would freeze in 1 minute...but I imagine you guys know what cold is...

WPOS...are you rolling north in the 325? I'll be wingin it north myself either by wheel or aircraft - not sure yet.
nope the 328 will be sitting in the garage till there are a few good rain showers to clear the salt off the roads as well as the sweepers to get the sand/gravel up....

Well, we got our tickets and will be heading up to watch what I think will be the winner of the FF06 play next weekend. I predict the winner of the UND/Gopher game will take it all. So do your job and take care of the evil "M" and we'll see you at the Saturday night game! So you guys have any good places we could get a good WCHA tailgate going?

I don't believe there is a "rule" for the "home" team in a regional to get the night game semifinal. It would seem, common sense-wise, that the 1 seed would get the first game, to potentially, if they win the game, get a couple hours more rest before the final game the next night.
since when tho, has the NC$$ worried about the teams more than the money??!?!? Maybe I've been spoiled but the Gophs ended up with the more lucrative ($$$) spot at Mecca....which has alwasy been later in the day

yah, no kidding, hard to buy tix when you don't know WHICH regional your team is going to be at...heck the Gophs could end up in ALBANY!
As for time slots I think that regardless of WHICH arena is being played at there is a tendancy to play the "home" team in the evening game slot to generate more revenue....

Wpos, I don't remember if it was you giving the UND players crap for checking from behind, but I saw that first one against the Gophers and UND has been called for many of those "turn the back" calls. Sorry I have to bring the guy up, but in watching Kessel live he turns his back a lot when taking a check. In fact I'm seeing this from many players and I think the NCAA has created a more dangerous precedent with these calls, because the players are putting themselves in a dangerous position to get the call.
Also, I didn't even hear of that 2 minute checking from behind call due to a player being away from the boards until like 2 weeks ago. I believe in Duluth a UND player got kicked out when the opposing player was no where near the boards.
I don't like checking from behind from anybody, Goli's penalty was complete bunk, that said, what bothers me is a coaches response like DU's. Teaching these kids to "take" a penalty like that and then crowing about it is just plain dangerous. These refs need to learn what REALLY constitues checking from behind. They seem to have some version that doesn't fit the penatly sometimes....

considering the DU coaches comments about how he was happy about the draw of 2 majors from the Gophs (neither which looked to be deserving) I'd lay dollars to donuts he is teaching his boys to "take" hits to even up team odds....good luck to you...DU was playing pretty cheap at the end Saturday night

I was a little surprised to see Tech tie you on Sat. Speaking of Irmen, that got me thinking of Sonmor because he interviewed Irmen between periods on Sat afternoon.
During the game, Tech scored a goal which was waved off because the whistle had apparently blown. They went to review the play, and Sonmore says to Wally "Don't you get the sense we're going to get the shaft here?".
I don't want to turn this into commentary about homer announcers. That thread has already been done and frankly MN's announcers don't bother me. I just thought this comment by Glen was worth a mention as it made me laugh.
actually, the whislte was CLEARLY blown before the puck went in, maybe even up to a full second. I was all nervous and let down when I heard the whistle and then Albers suddenly sttarts signaling a goal. My seat was on the glass right by the Gopher bench/tunnel so I had a excellent view of the whole procedings. Sadly, Lucia had to point out you can't review a goal that occured after a whislte was blown, because as soon as he got the linesman to point that out to Albers, Albers got back on the ice fast and resumed play.

ug, what a trip, only one person w/ alcohol poisoning, no one went to jail and we pulled three points out of tech. GOD I love that roadtrip.....peopel are nice as can be, the beer is cheap and good and you can walk to about anywhere post game and not worry about driving...
Fri night Briggs played like poop, and Saturday Nolan played like a rock star....We need Irmen back
