  1. no crap..friken halarious serious response ???

    HOOK, LINE AND SINKER.............................. :(

considering I had NO desire to plow thru the 20 pages of this thread, I must have missed the ribbing...if you had to live next to the evil red menace to the east and deal with their fans right now, you might be a bit on edge too....

oh, that's right you have MN... :D

  2. Maybe, but you guys call yourselves the State of Hockey like the Cowboys call themselves America's Team when the nation refers to both being in Wisconsin - this year anyway.

MN will always be the STATE of hockey regardless of anything...name a state that has as many D1, D2 or D3 players playing nationally. A few years back I found all but 1 team had Minnesota kids on the rosters. Look at the hockey programs from youth up thru professional and I tripple dog dare you to find a state that stacks up against MN. Any state that doesn't have youth thru pro can't try and take that moniker. Deal with it.

  3. Like someone said, it sucks having all of these good players leave after a few years, oh well, reload!

now isn't that a paraphrase of a line said by a Gopher coach? :glare:

the teams next year will be interesting to say the least. I am sure there will be a few more leaving from a few more squads and a few staying that we expect to bail...

    W

  4. I don't think you guys have to worry about losing god jr. Now other players I think you will still lose a few...

what really sucks is I think this is a trend that will continue, gone are the days of watching these good college players for four years...

  5. gotta give some credit to the Sioux, when it was 3-0 I thought they MIGHT roll over and give up, but you guys battled 'em pretty hard, good job on showing the WCHA doesn't just roll over....there's always next year (for both our teams)

  6. That's the point. There is NOTHING IN THE AGREEMENT that can be changed.

Let me say this one more time because you've apprently read nothing that I've previously posted:

According to Kupchella and other UND officials who know, there are no provisions in the agreement about anything happening to arena in the event that UND drops the Fighting Sioux nickname.

    Zero. Nada. Zilch. Zip.

    Do you understand now?

That's why the silly rumors you and others continually repeat are totally bogus. It's why your position continues to make absolutely no sense.

DUDE! RELAX, I was just trying to say that regardless of WHAT happens with anything, UND will play at the Ralph...didn't YOU read that? take a chill pill and call me in the AM, who pi$$ed in your coffee?

    W

  7. I'm sorry, but this makes no sense whatsoever. Why would there need to be "a deal done to keep the hockey at the Ralph" when hockey is already at the Ralph under the current deal?

The NCAA learned something last fall about pre-existing contracts. Maybe you should, too.

sure it makes sense, being that I'm NOT a lawyer tho, this is what I meant: if there WAS some stipulation about logo/neame/etc, there can always be an agreement with the parties involved to CHANGE the agreement, either by nulifying or modifying the agreements. This is in regards to the rumors I heard about the Sioux not being able to play there if there was change...

I just don't see ANY way that your team wouldn't be there...

  8. I was watching it Friday night when it showed up to bite a bunch of Gopher fans in their collective rear ends. :D

    you are COR-RECT sir!

I don't think Collins will win it. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that Collins would bump either Potulny or Elliott for a spot with in the final three. Carle is still the favorite in my opinion.

Well that is all the specualtion right now, with that supposed "inside" info....maybe RP will still make it, but I really doubt that a WCHA player will get it, it has been very WCHA-centric th elast few years (as it SHOULD be!)

  9. Several months ago, I spoke to someone in the UND administration in a position to know whether such rumors are true. (Believe me, there are people on both sides of the Fighting Sioux nickname issue who'd love to believe that they are.) I was told that when the New York Times sent a reporter to Grand Forks to do a story about the nickname controversy, he inquired about the rumors he'd heard about Engelstad Arena and what might happen to it if the name changed.

He was provided with copies of all the documents relating to the ownership and control of the arena (which are public record, by the way). None of them contain a single word about a change in the arena's status if the Fighting Sioux nickname is changed.

IF, and I'd say IF, UND changed name/logo/mascot/whatever, there would be a deal done to keep the hockey at the Ralph, regardless of what is in writing now, money talks and lawyers make the rules as the go along...

bigger question is when the river floods how many hockey fans will it take to sandbag the arena for safety? :D

  10. Done! :D

    HO-ly_Cross.jpg

PCM, just watch out for that sneaky hubris.....

on a RELATED note for this topic, Ryan did NOT make the hobey hat trick...some shmuck from HE did...now wait and see that Collins will win it...too many from the WCHA lately....gotta keep the HE money boys happy...

  11. Hab-it, like I said, some great UND fans out there and I'd bet most of the peeps that post here are stand up fans, and I could have a beer with them no problem, just that yah, 8 year olds swearing and pulling that kind of crap (umm WHERE are the parents?!?!?) to a young woman is just so uncalled for. Sadly, if it was me on that end of our group, they would have been hauled down to the cops by the collar and had their parents talked to. It just goes to show the extent that the lack of respect that seems to permeate the UND fan base has gone. And no, no kids...they'd get in the way of hockey to much. ;)

As for the arrogance shown by Gopher fans, as a friend explained it to me, I can understand how that comes off that way, but I TRY to be a good HOCKEY fan first and not be a jerk. I'll be the first to get in a good DISCUSSION about the game, not toss insults back and forth, and then share a pitcher of good brew. That is why I like the tPB guys, they are fun to be fans with both during (good natured jibes) and AFTER the game (drinking beer with, talking the game).

    W

  12. Maybe many of them remember what jerks they have run into at the inordinate number of championships that have been held on your turf. It is the root of my great hatred for your team and Bucky. Your fans are the most arrogant blowhards in the entire NCAA while Bucky fans are the most classless. Hope you have an enjoyable summer.

inordianate? there was ONE at the X that I can think of and that was a fluke that the Gophs made it that year. Your attitude right here is what I refer to...and I doubt that the two 8 year olds that were talking trash all night to my friend and swearing at her have many memories of being mistreated by Goph fans...like I said, met some great UND fans at the Ralph, but talk attitude, while UND's may not be "arrogant" it sure is something to behold from the outside...maybe you should take a mirror and see what others see when the see the majority of the UND fan base and their actions towards visitors to their arena...you have a good summer too...mine will just be 4 weeks sooner than in GF ;)

  13. hope you guys had a good tailgate. I *think* a few of the people that I told to show up did. Unfortunatly, most of our gang decided to head home after the loss and didn't want to stay and party Friday night. A few of us did and then they didn't want to go drink and then drive home. Most of them could not stomach the thought of watching UND destroy HC. So maybe next time/year. ;) I firmly beleive UND will be raising another banner after this April. ;)

Your arena is all it is touted to be, not a bad seat (altho the glare off the ice was a tich annoying). Altho I DID find it funny that the first 43 seconds of the UND/M game had the wrong team logos up on the side scoreboards...whose head at the Ralph are people calling for for that screw up? ;) I met some great UND fans by us and unfortunalty some complete jerks. Sadly for any UND fan friends I have, UND has now moved into my most hated rival. Not that I hate the team or program, because UND's program is dang good, but because of the treatment we recieved as guests by children, adults and even a few gray hairs...just not fun when it is THAT hostile.

    congrats on the regional.

    W

  14. Maybe Buffalo Wild Wings? or Joe Damagio's? At least in GF they are smoke free!

We have toted along a car battery and converter to watch TV while gating, but won't drag that all the way up to GF, you guys could maybe scrounge tha tup if peeps want to watch the games?

  15. I sent them an email asking if they will be offering this package to the UND fans from the Twin Cities when the Fighting Sioux advance to the Frozen Four. I'll let you know what they say.

y'know, I've met some GOOD UND fans and there are the rest...if Gopher fans are arrogant, than the "other" UND fans are paranoids...to post this on a board (granted it is a Sioux board) and raise a stink over a marketing thing done by a TRAVEL AGENCY for the local team..MY PARISE, if I had time I'd look around ALL the other cities and see if there might not be EXACTALLY THE SAME THING going on in all 16 cities involved....You think the BADgers don't have something set up already?

THE WORLD IS NOT OUT TO GET YOU, REGARLESS OF WHAT THE VOICES IN YOUR HEAD ARE TELLING YOU.
