  1. I'm just glad he is a normal kid and was having fun at UND. He obviously is a socializer and we learned this week what can happen to people who refuse to be social and interact with people.

sorry, to compare social drinking with being a loner like the VT issue is just WRONG. One does NOT have to drink to be social. SHAME!

  2. BC and Holy Cross were seeded equally and UMtc and UND were, too?? You're saying comparing UND's lose to BC is equivalent to UMtc's lose to HC??

I'm saying UND, a giant, lost to another giant. UMtc, a giant, lost to David last year. No comparison, IMHO.

READ the comment. To compare last years Gopher loss as a #1 to the #16 seed to the UND/BC game was not in question. I was saying that UND was not a #1 seed and to say "top four team" you are disregarding the seeding system is all. I'm not here to argue who was where in "rank" because it is all out in the wash after play starts. I'd assume from your comments if the Gophers had beaten UND you'd consider us a "top four" team as you are equating that to the 4 that made the FF?

    W

  3. These comments by Worthless are insane. UND and the Gophers are about as equal as two teams could possibly be. With Briggs in net I agree, no chance for the Gophers. But with Frazee I think the Gophers would have had a great chance to beat BC and certainly would not have been dominated the way the Sue were.

I have been told I am a bit unbalanced...normally after a few beers....

  4. Lucia has been to how many Frozen Fours in the past three years??? You go ahead and wear that BC game worn jersey. I might get myself one too. Can you post a link?

One of the top four teams in the country beat another top four team in the country. You can't compare that to the #1 team in the country not making it to the big dance because they lost to the #14 (16?) team in the country.

tDon has been to the big dance I think 4 times in the last 8 years with two titles to show for it. Not all that bad IMO.

But your second point is a bit off....I guess it all depends on how you rank the "top four teams in the country". Seeding would say that you are wrong amd to compare the two years w/o using the seeding rank as comparison is false logic.

  5. It depends on whether or not the U defense let BC get to Frazee or Briggs the way UND let BC attack Lammy, but also whether or not we stayed out of the box. You have a right to your opinion but I don't believe for a second a solid effort by UM leads to a blowout loss. Not a chance.

Fine, understand I am a DIE hard Gopher fan, but I am also a realist. I know the Gophs pulled UND into two OT's. I also know UND owned the last OT. The Gopher D is hurting (obvious now with it coming out Goli has to have surgury bein gpart of the D slump). Personally I think we'd prolly not pulled as many penalties as UND did, we just don't have the size that drew a few of those calls. I'm not saying it would have been a blow out, but they would have picked the Gopher D apart and we'd have been down by 2 going into the third. A blow out in my mind is 3-4 goal spread minimum. The biggest question you have to ask yourself is this: WHICH Gopher team would have shown up? The one that had to mount a huge return to beat the Air Force, or the one that played Sat night at the X?

  6. Sorry to see you guys lose. :silly:

I had to DVR the game last night and will watch it some time this afternoon so I can't comment on what happened. There was a part of me that wanted to see UND win although if you had to lose, BC is a pretty good opponent to go down to.

Here's to next season and another opportunity to see the best hockey rivalry in college hockey duke it out again!

Hogwash. The Gophers took UND to OT the past two games. Perhaps we wouldn't have won but if the same UM team that beat UND at the X played yesterday they would have kept it close.

dude, if you haven't watched the game yet....Lammy kept UND in it with some good saves, I don't know if Frazee or Briggs could have come up that huge. BC is a dang good team. the Gophs would have not kept it as close as UND did, thusly I say they would have destroyed us.

  7. I think it's kind of funny that GPL doesn't "Permit" registrations in the post season....."due to troll posters..(when they choke!)....... :silly:

so how do you define "choke"? I am curious. The pretty general def is that a choke is when a team that is obviously superior looses to a vastly inferior team. Heck I'll even give you an example, last years Gopher loss to HC, that is a choke. Losing to BC wasn't a choke. The Regional Final wasn't. If you think this years regional is choking then UND has choked the past 3 NCAA's away. So be careful throwing around the word "choke", it may come back to bite you.

As for GPL holding off on registration, it is done to keep trolls away like the "hextall" poster here. I for one have no problem with suspending registrations to websites for that exact reason. It keeps the boards cleaner and more on topic of hockey talk than trash talk.

  8. as Sal said in an earlier post, I just coulnd't really pull for UND. But a little part of me was proud for the WCHA and the good showing UND presented. All said and done, stupid penalties cost UND big time. Porter should know better. The one empty netter seemed odd, what the heck happened to UND's D? Did they give up ala a certian Gopher goalie and not try for some odd reason? The mistakes were compounded and compounded. As the game was at 2-2, for a long time, that last few minutes was sure an exciting game. Never, NEVER, give a WCHA powerhouse the chance to score, even short handed, because our teams WILL (UND proved that). Pesonally, I think the game could have gone either way, but the penalties (yes they WERE penalties) cost UND big time. BC's PP is pretty darn good. The WCHA fan in me is sad, but the Gopher fan in me says "whew, no #8 for UND". Be proud of your boys, they played with heart and gave those HE a run for their money. The Gophs would have gotten POUNDED by BC. Is it next season yet, so we can play each other again? Have a good summer all!

  9. I took the time to settle down and truthfully don't want to read any threads on your board. I just wanted to say congrats on the win. The UND squad won a good game. The OT had the Gophers huffing and puffing and clearly being outplayed. Best of luck vs. BC, you'll need it, they look to be a tough team to beat right now. Just wish BOTH of our teams could have made the trip to battle it out (hopefully different result :silly: ) in arch city.

  10. I sure hope WE win this weekend. I think WE are playing well. Let's Go Sioux! btw, great job last weekend, WPoS. You did a great job cheering for YOUR team. And in a classy manner I might add.

YOU WON'T PLAY IN THE FREAKIN' GAME, DUDE!

  11. I guess somebody just got exposed :silly: beautiful! My hunch is that he might not have even gone to the Sat game at all

exposed? hardly, I actually did see a Sioux fan after the spanking and tell him they spanked the Gophers, so put that where the sun don't shine there buddy! As for leaving early, you can ask anyone I know, I have NEVER left a game early.

As for my little "speech", go ahead and put it up as your sig line again for all I care, you are obviously NOT one of the Sioux fans that I could/do respect. Telling a defeated opponent it was a good game has noting to do with if you played or not, it is showing respect for an opponent. If I EVER, and I mean EVER see a post by you that says "us" and "Sioux" and "hockey" and "win" in it, I'll throw that right back in your face. You sir, are a tool.

I am one for interaction with GOOD hockey fans regardless of the outcome. We moved our seats this year at the F5 and actually had some good new people to sit by. Knowledgable, respectfull fans, that weren't yelling about ref bias, or "fake" penaties, or any of that crap. I had a good time chatting with them and shared a "that was a great game" after it was all over, as well as props for the all F5 team. That game will go down in my mind as one of the best, most hard fought games between our two respective teams. Damn I wish I had DVR'd it. As for FlagGuy and all the others that pull that nazi crap, I personally hate that, it is stupid and dumb, and I tell the people who do that so.

NDH, Mafiaman, missed running into you guys this year, you guys are good eggs.

Forecheck did we ever make a bet?!?

cfm, one of these years we got to meet up and share a brew and talk BMW (got mine out Sunday)

Diggler, I leave the head butting (and nose breaking) to my best friends! that was crazy!

    W

  12. I for one clapped for him, he played the heck out of those games. Yes, I even told UND fans that the game was a GOOD hockey game, most of the responses I got? "shut up", "are you for real", "the refs gave you the game", and OCCASIONALLY, "thanks, it was".

  13. Secondly, Bina and his troubles are nothing that your average 24 year-old hasn't experienced, or at least could have with a little bad luck. To call him a "drunk" is a little premature. From what I see, the boys went out for a drink, went to Judy's because it IS low key and you CAN drink underage pretty easily. The cops learn of this, drive over, walk in, see several underage kids and start making arrests. Bina sees this, steps in after his third pitcher, probably says some things he wouldn't have on a Sunday morning at church and sees an opportunity to let a couple guys out of the back of the cop car as any good friend would.

Not a smart move, I agree, but nothing that hasn't happened before. Nothing malicious in his intent, nothing most of us wouldn't do. The media attention for the magnitude of the actual offenses is way overblown. The media attention for the offenses in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and for the top two players on the top college hockey program in the country is dead on! I don't know what UND and the program will do, but some type of punishment, most likely the missing of game(s), especially by Bina, is warranted.

wow, all I can say is wow....to tell the truth I didn't know ANY 24 year olds w/ a DWI when I was around that age..to try and pass it off as "common"...wow

and as for possibly opening a cop car door to let your buddies out? "nothing most of wouldn't do"...again wow, the cops must be WAY more nice up in UND land, because doing that in Mpls will get you tossed to the ground and cuffed or tazered.

you can down play a lot of this as kids being kids, but seriously, if this was anyone but these kids , there would be different tones coming from UND fans.

All said and done this is getting more media attention than it realy warrants, so welcome to our hell from last year.

    W

  14. the punishment should fit the (if any) crime. Obviously college kids drink and will do stuff like this. After the Blarney's incident I don't think many of you UND fans were not as forgiving of some of the Gopher players, even tho they may or may not have been guilty of the same "crime". Yes, the Blarney's incident is a bit different for certain individuals, but if the kids did something wrong they should treated like any other college student, regardless of any team affiliation. Regardless, I doubt anything will happen except for Bina, what he did, DID cross a line.

  15. W . . . .

Good hearing from you. I was wondering about you, and where you've been.

Leave it to THE series in all of sport to bring you out from under that sheet of plywood

    you've been lying under.

See you around The John this weekend? Look for me, as I will you.

been around, I mostly read the boards nowadays...not worth my time right now to post (I don't even post much on GPL anymore)...

I am sure I'll see ya during the March Around and/or at the tailgate! ???

    W

  16. On GPL we have Sioux, Husky, Bulldog, Maverick, Bucky and other teams fans too. It's a pretty diversified group. Sure it's mostly a Gopher love fest, well.... it's a Gopher board, what do you expect?? I enjoy hearing from fans from other school on my site. Some of those guys I have become good friends with.

there is lots of Sioux love festing going on here too. I expect it on any board tha tis associated to a specific team, if you don't expect it, you are smoking some good ganja

    W

  17. Because it's SO MUCH FUN and makes us feel good all over!!!!! ;)

Maybe we'll (Goph fans) will have to start a BC/Denver/whoever takes you out next year fan club! :D

    W

  18. wow...still hooked on that I see....

No fear, the "curse" or "blessing" (from the other side) will continue.....with how both teams have gotten hit so far (and prolly more) it could be an interesting year next year. Altho I think we don't play up ther enext year?

    W

  19. sounds exactally like what they did with the old Memorial Stadium on the U campus. Left it to rot for a few years, so it was "unsafe" to use so they could tear it down w/o a fight....sadly, since it was in such "bad" shape, one had to go in the middle of the night to gather momentos....amazing what a few beers and a wrench can get you! When they took out the old Mariucci, the took all the old benches and tossed them in a dumpster...feeding frenzy for a while around that dumpster I tell ya....coulda made quite a few bucks off of that "garbage". My wife paid $60 on ebay for one seat "section" of a bench 3 years ago....Good luck to you all.
