Woah, just checking in . . . Yeah, Sioux Sioux!!! Whack those Gophers!!!
-
David Hale returned to the Devils line up against TB, and though he logged only just under 9 min of ice, it was a significant increase in playing time for him from what he saw just prior to being scratched in favor of Andy Greene (who was returned to Lowell to play in the ASG). Also, nice that Lowell finally gave JPar some goal support . . .
-
Northeastern has played quite well since McEachern came on as an assistant coach, but Maine is just reeling at this point. Congratulations to the Sioux for whacking the Gophers . . . I wish I could've seen it, so you'll just have to do it again tomorrow.

The band's too loud? If you ever call a game's atmosphere "too loud" you're obviously not a real college hockey fan and should switch to something like golf or tennis. Suprisingly UNH fans have also complained about the band being placed in their student section and that they are too loud; however, the UNH Band is god awful. As for the Sioux band, yeah they're much improved over the past 4 years, but the song selection is kinda limited. I'm in a D-I band and would disagree that all bands are this way these days b/c my band knows in excess of 100 songs. But you can never hear In Heaven There is No Beer too many times cause people sing to it and if it gets the fans involved I'm all for it.

Travis Zajac is happy . . . link And David Hale has been sent to Lowell on a conditioning stint . . . there has been some speculation that an injury (you never really know what's going on with the Devils) is what has caused his lack of ice time so it'll be interesting to see how things play out with him in Lowell. Okay, forget the stuff I said about Lowell, 'cause I haven't found significant proof to substantiate that claim yet other than word of mouth, but the injury stuff I have wondered about especially with Hale's pre-existing condition.

Bad news for David Hale . . . he's the odd man out on the Devils' blue line right now and is a healthy scratch tonight as former Redhawk Andy Greene has taken his spot in the lineup. Devils fans have mixed opinions on Hale's potential and development and many believe he'll be moved at the deadline, but I'd personally hate to see him go. Hopefully things will work out well for him.

Article not about a former player (Kessel) with quotes from a former player (Stafford) as below: Word of Kessel's circumstance spread rapidly throughout hockey circles. E-mails and calls of support began pouring in, including one from Sabres winger Drew Stafford. The two were U.S. teammates at last year's World Junior Championships. Stafford's father, Gord, coaches the girls hockey team at Shattuck-St. Mary's prep in Faribault, Minn., where Kessel's sister, Amanda, is a heralded freshman. "Anytime you hear news like that you pray for the guy, pray for his health, hope his family is doing all right," Stafford said. "I gave him a call, left him a message, just wishing him the best, saying I was praying for him. In a situation like that hockey kind of takes a back seat to everything." Nice gesture by Drew, old and current rivalries aside he seems like a real good guy to reach out to Phil like that.

Feel the Zajac love . . .Zajac, the prototypical Devil

Oh, well reports out of Orono have HE ref Hansen stalking Maine player Josh Soares down the tunnel to confront him about some choice words Soares had for him following the game. Police were called in to pull the ref away and then escort him to wherever he should've been. I've also heard that Hansen had to be pulled away from Maine's coach. I guess we'll find out more tomorrow as the head of officials for HE was at the game.
-
Good win tonight: 4 goals A shutout And at home to boot Congrats to the Sioux
-
Hopefully yours won't be between a player and the ref like in HE tonight . . . for this I think HE officials officially take the cake as the worst of the bunch.

Wow, Angry Darcy . . .

Hello Sioux fans, just checking in and liking the score. It's nice scoring goals again eh? I missed most of Kaip's fight but maybe you guys can top my school's effort against Maine tonight because it got so ugly on the ice the police came to break it up. Good luck in the third and keep it up. . .
-
Nice shot of Porter on the bench after the goal, he looks really pumped up so let's hope they keep it up. Some good energy from the Captain, gotta love it.

After rewatching the game I agree w./ you, it wasn't on purpose which I originally thought. Coburn made a mistake, but as someone who has played the game I wouldn't have touched Parise as he was obviously off balance and vulnerable, but still Parise is very lucky that he hit the boards the way he did. In better news for Zach, he was selected for the Young Stars game, no Zajac unfortunately. Also some kind words here about Zach from the Devils Color Guy Chico Resch.
-
Check out the TSN highlights for the NJ - Atl game, they have a clip of the hit Parise took; I'm assuming he's thrashing his legs like that to make sure that they still work, either that or he's in a lot of f'ing pain. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=191964&hubname=nhl You can also kinda see Zajac's great tip/pass
-
While you're at you might as well post the bush league hit on Parise by Coburn . . . I don't know if Zach saw his life flash before his eyes but I had the wind knocked out of me and I was watching it on TV; he could've been seriously hurt. On a brighter note, I love watching Zajac interviews just to see how big the red mark on his forehead will be from his helmet; I use it as a measure of how hard he played that night. His pass for the GWG was tremendous, the kid is 110% effort and 120% heart every night.

They were losing 3-0 to my school (BU) and PC was on the PP, so they had a 6-4 advantage with 6 forwards on the ice and BU scored the SH ENG . . . it was one of the weirder things I have experienced at a hockey game.
-
PC's Tim Army pulled their goalie with over 10 minutes left in the second period last night . . . It was awesome.
-
Unfortunately, JPar lost again tonight for Lowell. He gets absolutely no goal support from them though . . . wait that sounds familiar.
-
My school just finished a 0 - 0 tie, crappy ass game, at least the Sioux scored tonight . . . Get some more, Good luck guys!
-
I taped the interview, and if my technologically inept self can figure it out, I'll post it online cause it had some cute pictures of Zach and Jordan as kids
-
The Sioux = snakebit . . . it sucks but it happens to even the best of 'em. I've watched a lot of hockey in my life and from the looks of last weekend the Sioux forwards aren't even close to the worst I've seen, and I'm talking worse then "missing the broad side of the barn." It was "couldn't hit water if you fell out of boat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean bad" offensive skill my freshman year of college at BU. Hopefully Toews will come back and spread around some of that magic he displayed in the WJC and combined with good goaltending from Lammy and some effort it will lead to some needed W's 'cause I'd hate to see Hakstol's Frozen Four streak come to an end.
