Can anyone out there tell me if we qualify as a rival of the gophers yet? Oh that's right, only Wisconsin is considered a rival.

Yeah, that was hilarious. I didn't get to see his reaction after the win. Was he really going nuts, or were people just giving him a hard time online because he once again remained stoic? If anyone can post some video of his reaction, it would be much appreciated. By the way, I live in Minneapolis and I'm anxious to see how they report the gophers loss this evening on the local sportscasts. They may even skip altogether. It's only the "state of hockey" when the gophers win. When they lose, it's as though hockey ceases to be a sport.

I believe it was Chris Farley in Tommy Boy who said it best after watching a deer (that had been presumed dead) rip its way through the top of David Spade's convertible: THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!

If so, I say we circulate a petition to fund the tight-fitting jerseys in white. Maybe it's the style as much as the color.

I don't have cable, and so I wasn't able to watch the game at home. I watched at this corner bar in the heart of Minneapolis and I was the only Sioux fan in the place. I didn't want to get lynched, so as soon as the Sioux won, I simply got up and walked outside. Once outside, I let out a huge cheer and ran back to my apartment to hear the postgame comments over the internet. It was so sweet to be the only Sioux in a room full of goofers -- especially after last weekend. Yeah baby!!!! Let's go for number 8!!!!

When it's all said and done, what matters the most is that the goofers will be the ones saying they got a raw deal with the final pairings. After getting beat by the Sioux in the second round, they'll be the team crying that they shouldn't have had to face UND in the first place. Ultimately, the perfect pairing will be Lucia and the goofers with non-stop whining. It's a classic for all seasons -- even the post-season.

Couldn't agree more. Outside of UND, BC is the team with the best late season surge. They are dangerous right now. They're peaking at the perfect time. Plus, the fact that they have an easier draw really works in their favor right now.

There is no question in my mind that if the Sioux get a shot at Minnesota again, they will make sure to bring their A-game. This is a team that has pride and that likes to have the last word. For now, the bigger issue is that we don't look past Michigan. It will take a great effort just to get a shot at having the last word with Minnesota.

It's now that those first-half losses are hurting us. Would have been nice to get an easier first round opponent. It's gonna take four solid performances to win a national championship. Oh well, what's done is done. Let's get it done one hard-fought game at a time!!

One of the gopher players said it best in an interview after the game. He said that the gophers "outworked" and "outplayed" the Sioux. That's what it came down to. The Sioux need to put that on their bulletin board and make sure that they don't let it happen from here on out. They were fortunate to make it into overtime. They just didn't have the energy that the gophers did last night. Hopefully, the Sioux are saving their best for last. There is still a lot left to prove.

Using Moy's criteria as specified on the USCHO sight yesterday, the Sioux are now in the NCAA tournament no matter what happens in the remaining WCHA tournament games. In order for the Sioux to have been eliminated from the NCAA tourny, Michigan Tech would have had to win out, and the Sioux would have had to lose in the 3rd place game to Minnesota. Since Michigan Tech lost tonight to Wisconsin, the outside chance that the Sioux would have been left out of the NCAA is no longer a possibility. Now let's go after a #1 seed (which is still possible), or at least a #2 seed. LET'S GO SIOUX!!!

And you call yourself a Sioux fan. Everybody knows that a true Sioux fan would never settle for anything less than a whole grinder.

Yeah, I know. It's an outside shot, but you gotta let a dreamer dream -- especially on a night that's working out as well as this one. And, as crazy as things have been this year, you never know.

Oh yeah, I forgot...games this time of year don't matter.

It would have been inconceivable at the Christmas break, but the Sioux actually have a shot at getting a #1 seed in the NCAA if they put together a string of solid wins against top-ranked teams in the WCHA tournament.

College Hockey News always gets the scores and rankings out first. USCHO tends to be a little slow.

We're now up to #6 in the pairwise. Though we need to win next weekend to keep our momentum going, it seems we're in the NCAA tournament no matter what. Wow!! What a turn-around, and what a finish. Best of all...it's obvious the Sioux are nowhere near satisfied.

They're not eligible becaue it is their first year in their league and I believe DI also.

It's looking more and more like we'll be starting out against Minnesota State. They've been playing very well. We'll have our hands full. We won't be able to take anything for granted.

Any word on UW and UMD?

Let's get one more goal here, and one more national champtionship later. Movin' on up to Eight.

Remember that historic Sioux comeback at UMD back in the 80's. I'm gonna predict that nothing like that will happen here. Call it a hunch.
