  1. That's not going to happen, but keep dreaming.

in the 3-2 format we have a great chance. Parker Lawley CAN BEAT Chad Smith because all he does is get it in on a consistent basis. We saw that the last couple of years with Max beating him. Ryan McGuigan beat Kraft 2 years ago and has only gotten better. Eric Moe also beat Ladoucer 2 years ago (when we nearly beat them losing 5-4.) Doubles has a strong chance with beating who ever they put out because we are definitely strong with our doubles teams when we face the tough competition.

South was the last team to win EDC other than RR back in 2000 and the last team to beat them

  2. Anyone in GF follow Boys' tennis at all? We (South) beat Central yesterday 9-0 and GFRR beat WF 9-0 yesterday as well. Only 3 undeafeated teams in the East in South, GFRR, and lucky North (who last year lost their entire Top 9).

South has a good opprotunity to beat RR this year and we are pumped to face them in 2 weeks.

  3. Once again I will tell you that I enjoy small college football divisions such as D2 and I-AA. I just don't go around trying to convince myself and others that my school's football program is big-time when it obviously is not. That won't change when they move up next year. Enjoy it for what it is, but don't try to make it out to be more than what it actually is. Don't display such an obvious inferiority complex. It isn't the same division of football that USC and Notre Dame compete in, just accept that fact and get on with the rest of your life.

well technically i was pointing out the bigger atmosphere of 19k to 6-7k. Not 19,000 to 100,000 ;)

  4. I'll be watching a real Division I football game (Notre Dame/Penn State) on TV the night of September 8th. However, maybe I could record NDS-who's faux Division I game and save it for some night when I'm suffering from insomnia. :D

so when und goes DI next year, will you be saying the same stuff when und plays an FCS schedule? Different subdivisions and when will you get the point of that?? I'll try to explain it again.

    • BOTH SUBDIVISIONS HAVE OTHER SPORTS THAT PLAY DI (Basketball, baseball, tennis, softball, soccer etc...)
    • SINCE THAT IS ABOUT 300 SCHOOLS IN TOTAL THAT IS WAYYYY TOO MANY SCHOOLS THAT HAVE FOOTBALL TO HAVE JUST ON DIVISION OF FOOTBALL.
    • SO NEXT THEY CREATE SUBDIVISIONS OF HOW BIG THE SCHOOLS ARE HAVE ONE PLAY BOWL GAMES (FBS) AND PLAYOFF GAMES (FCS).
    • WHILE und GOES INTO DI THEY WILL BE IN THE FCS SUBDIVISION THAT ALSO HAS THE OTHER SPORTS PLAY A DI SCHEDULE.

There might not be 100k people in the seats but it is a DI game in itself. Spend some time following FCS and not just the big boys and learn a little more about college football.

  5. don't be a stranger to turn on the tv on september 8th and see 19,000 rowdy BISON fans cheering on FCS NDSU! :D heck, if your game is on tv on FSSN i'll take a look at your 5-7,000 fans!

  6. Whether its Ball State, CMU, MN, WI, NE . . . you believe that you can win, and you play to win. It's a team sport and the best team wins. The most all-americans, best track speed and greatest strength do not win by showing up. It's the team that executes and plays together that wins. I do not share your inferiority complex. Taking the field against teams like Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, KState and Minnesota and others in the top 50 and being competitive is what being DI in football is all about. Anytime you take the field against good competition you run the risk of getting beat by 1 or by 30. The bison lost to Cal Poly by 30 in 2005 before returning the favor by 35 in 2006. Thats the way it works sometimes. What would you rather do, play good competition or hide under a rock. Your attitude is an embarassment! Anyone, anywhere, anytime!

    any given saturday.....

  7. well..we're going DIVISION I - aa :p Why would we care about the Fiscal Conservancy Board?*

    * - A subdivision of bankings' FDIC! :whistling:

I wish someone like NDSUFreak could set me straight on acronyms.... :D

if you ever do go on AGS (which i advise you not to) a storm will come your way from dbackjon, UNHWILDCATS, and others about using FCS. It isn't hard to use FCS.

  8. I trashed it back then and I will trash it now.

It's really not even a conference. It has what only 3 teams besides the two new members of UND/USD.

It is a Temporary Schedule Allieance. That is all it is. No autobid. Nothing.

The upside. The other 3 teams are pretty darn good (at least 2).

when 08 comes there won't be AT LEAST 2 pretty darn good teams there will be 2 pretty darn good teams. SUU has nothing

  9. Will Taylor want to tie up the Fargodome to the tune of 19.5k sold out STO one year and then have the cheapest travel possible for the team and fans the next year, not to mention restarting one of the longest played and greatest rivalries in football at any division?

I think you're right, it's unclear if he's prepared to make that kind of sacrifice.

we'll soon have that if not this year but the next. SELL OUT ERA. und i'm sure will have that same sell out era as soon as tey settle into FCS so neither team will desperately need each other. last season's SDSU game packed a punch as well.

  10. I was leaving my hotel room earlier this week and saw plastered on the front page of a national newspaper a story about how I-AA App. State was getting a taste of "big time" football this Fall. It must have mentioned I-AA a dozen times.

I actually chuckled to myself, feeling sorry for the poor newspaper that was about to be deluged by letters from indignant Bison fans who:

    1) Staunchly chide anyone who dares still use the terminology I-AA (despite not a single FCS game having yet being played)

    2) Blanch at any suggestions that I-AA ball is not "big time"

It's not clear to me why Bison fans have taken on the role of online champions of the ridiculous FCS moniker, but it sure is amusing. I guess it's not that different from two years ago when we were attacked by the punctuation police who jumped all over any use of "IAA" or "1AA" instead of whatever it was they preferred.

Go to AGS and then see that not only BISON fans encourage the use of FCS

  11. I'm not surprised. I'd suspect that UND will select Mens and Womens swimming and diving to be eligible early, and there is little revenue to be earned from those sports. USD is relatively competetive in T & F so it makes sense for them. However, I wouldn't mind volleyball being selected because it does have the potential to generate at least some revenue. The problem is an adequate offsetting men's sport. Lacrosse, anyone?

I just might have to cheer for a und lacrosse team if it happens. but if NDSU gets one you know who i'll be cheering for. ;)

  12. You call it subdivisions the rest of the country thinks of it as D1--JV, and confuses it more often with other divisions than D-1.

It is meaningful to the locals and alumni much like class b football is exciting to the local community, but re-branding it doesn't change what it is.

    its hopeless ;)

  13. Report: Lennon offered

Footballscoop.com, a coaching Web site that I've found to be rather reliable over the last couple of of years, is reporting Dale Lennon was offered the Montana State head football position today. I'm getting reliable information that the report is accurate and that he is going to spend the weekend thinking it over.

MSU athletic director Peter Fields told the Bozeman Daily Chronicle newspaper that he hopes to call a press conference by Monday. Lennon may well be the top choice now that Carroll College (Mont.) head coach Mike Van Diest withdrew from consideration, according to the Helena Independent Record newspaper.

It's still iffy on whether Lennon would accept the job. He's got a strong bond to UND that will be hard to break. It's doubtful anything will happen with this story until Monday.

  14. So, what are you going to do when your school actually schedules an FBS school, man-up and cheer your ass off, or jump off a building? Most sioux fans will man-up and get behind their team, I'm not so sure about you. There will probably be bison fans like me cheering louder than you.

i am already preparing my voice for the damage it will take in the long run after October 20th

  15. No bashing intended but as you make the move up to the FCS level, not I-AA level, you will see the changed name even more. I have already been in this arguement before with someone else that is a member of this board (you know who you are :silly:). Hopefully most of you will join the AGS community to talk about FCS.

Just throwing that out there as you will be in the level sooner than you know it.
