35 UND 18 SIUE halftime Kimbrough has 16 points.

Seattle defeated USD in Vermillion yesterday, making UND's win on Friday even more impressive.

Seattle defeated USD in Vermillion yesterday. It should be an interesting tournament next weekend. I haven't seen pairings yet, but I'm guessing we'll see UND-Houston Baptist, and USD-Seattle in the first round. Both UND and Seattle are 7-1 vs. other first-year transition teams.

UND definitely avenged the loss to Seattle from a few weeks ago in which the Sioux blew a 5-point lead in the final minute. It would be interesting to know whether UND was ever in the picture for Salley (Guinn's high school teammate) when she was deciding where to transfer from Minnesota. She's a good player.

IMO, this was UND's best win of the year. Seattle has beaten a number of established dI's this year, including Louisiana Tech, UC Irvine, Cal Poly, E. Washington and Loyola Marymount. Harrison, Harkins and Bledsoe all played very well tonight.

Is it possible Roebuck was talking about Brittany Peterson, the Iowa guard who apparently committed right after the close of the early signing period? Since she couldn't actually sign a LOI until spring, Roebuck can't mention her by name (not that she'd sign if she's a walk-on). On the other hand, it's hard to believe she'd be a walk-on given her credentials.

I'm guessing this is Kate Sharkova from Lake Region. She's listed at 6'5", and averages 15 points and 10 rebounds per game.

The other alternative is simply to go without a traditional post. It worked pretty well for USD last season. In any event, I don't think there's much question that next year's fortunes are going to depend in large part on how much the freshmen are able to contribute. When you combine the losses of Kimbrough and Guinn, plus the uncertain status of Ledger, Privatsky and LaFrance, some of the freshmen will need to play pretty big roles immediately.
-
If Ledger isn't ready to go by the start of next season, I wonder who would be the most likely to start in the post--Jenna Gillett, Shyla Kuehl or Katie Houdek?
-
I haven't seen him on or behind the bench in some time. I didn't really think much of it, but with his apparently recent removal from the roster, it certainly appears that he's no longer on the team.
-
Not sure how long ago this happened, but I just noticed that Ben Lehnertz is not listed on the roster anymore.
-
I think the only question which is really answerable at this point is 2)--Mitch Wilmer is 6'11", and should provide a shot-blocking presence, although he'll need to continue to add weight if he's going to be able to potentially hold his own on the blocks against stronger posts. Other than that, it's almost impossible to speculate since few if any of us have actually watched them practice.
-
I guess a person shouldn't complain too much after a win, but 5 of 14 from the free throw line? That was frustrating to watch.
-
I have to admit that I came close to leaving at halftime, but I'm glad I didn't. As brutal as the first was offensively, the second half was the exact opposite. And it was a solid defensive effort throughout. Nice job, Sioux.

UND would have ranked 29th in FCS attendance this year: link

It certainly looks that way: link

Have you heard any rumors about which FCS school UND is apparently talking to about the Sept. 12 date?
-
Just speculation on my part, but I tend to think it's more a plus than a minus. I suspect Terry still has a lot of friends in Grand Forks, plus presumably UND would be very open to a home-and-home, whereas NDSU apparently would not.
-
I don't mean to pile onto Stroup, but if you search his name here, it looks like he has a trial coming up in Fargo for a different incident (simple assault).
-
The thing that seems strange about the turnover problem is that despite conventional wisdom that you'd expect the point guard to lead the team in turnovers, that's not the case at UND. Jossy Bergan has only turned the ball over 35 times in 23 games. It's the posts and wings who have the vast majority of the turnovers.

The class of 2004 was exceptional. Obviously Dressler was the best player from that class, but you also had all-conference or at least all-conference caliber players in Trenbeath, Freund, Troen, Manke, Grover, Holinka and Otto, and solid starters in Nicholas, Caufield, Moe, DeMontigny, Malner, Bodoh and Giles, plus juco transfer Enger who also earned all-conference honors. Perhaps the post season accomplishments weren't as good as some earlier classes, but overall this was among the best classes I can recall.
-
My best guess for the starting offensive line next year is Bondy and McKendry at tackle; Keller and Schroyer at guard; and Koelln at center.

Somebody voted the class of 2009 as "most disappointing"?
