  1. I believe Roebuck was in attendance last Wednesday night when Sharkova had 23 points and 18 boards against Williston. It sounds like she could provide some needed insurance if Ledger isn't completely recovered, and would possibly allow for the red-shirting of the freshmen posts.
  2. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the careers of the graduating seniors--best of luck to both in their futures. I suspect Kierah will be able to play professionally overseas if she so chooses.
  3. I agree, although last night I suspect people leaving had more to do with wanting to watch the hockey game on tv rather than just disinterest in the men's team. Hopefully we won't see many leave after the women's game tonight.
  4. Looks like we can rule out Central Washington as a potential 2009 opponent: link Going by the "2009 schedule blog official release" as found on anygivensaturday.com, it looks to me like our potential options for a home non-conference FCS game in 2009 are as follows: Sept. 12 Portland St. Sam Houston St. Wagner Howard Oct. 10 Indiana St. Morehead St. (and no, I'm not talking about MSU-Moorhead) Stony Brook Davidson
  5. If I were Faison I'd probably accept that, but with a huge, huge buyout clause.
  6. Not without it being the front end of a home-and-home. Since clearly Taylor isn't going to agree to that, it's a dead issue IMO.
  7. Luke's uncle, Chad Johnson (another ex-Sioux player), is one of Dean Blais' assistants in Fargo.
  8. I suspect they'll use score differential to break the ties between UND-Seattle, and USD-Houston Baptist, thereby resulting in: 1-UND vs. 4-Houston Baptist and 2-Seattle vs. 3-USD
  9. There are a number of teams ranked ahead of us by Massey that I think UND would beat more often than not, including Lamar (UND won by 14), Seattle (lost by 1 on road and won by 19 at home), Northern Iowa (lost at USD), Mankato and NDSU (that last one should generate some discussion ).
  10. Although I've been a proponent of the dI move for a couple of years, women's basketball was the one sport I had reservations about, because we had such a good thing going in dII. But I have actually enjoyed this season more than I thought I would. And much to my surprise, attendance is actually higher this year, even with the inevitably weak home schedule that every transitioning program must endure. Starting next year, we should actually have a few recognizable dI schools coming to Grand Forks, and that should add another level of excitement to the program. SDSU has shown that a team from the Dakota's can enjoy great success at the dI level. Hopefully we can eventually approach that level in three or four years.
  11. 72 UND 68 SIUE final Nice job, Sioux!
  12. 69 UND 52 SIUE 29 for Kimbrough 15 for Bagaason 13 for Youngblut Kimbrough is now just 24 points away from 2000 for her career.
  13. 49 UND 27 SIUE 14 minutes remaining.
  14. I wonder why neither UND nor USD's men played Houston Baptist this year? The UND women will likely play HB three times this season.
  15. 35 UND 18 SIUE halftime Kimbrough has 16 points.
  16. Seattle defeated USD in Vermillion yesterday, making UND's win on Friday even more impressive.
  17. Seattle defeated USD in Vermillion yesterday. It should be an interesting tournament next weekend. I haven't seen pairings yet, but I'm guessing we'll see UND-Houston Baptist, and USD-Seattle in the first round. Both UND and Seattle are 7-1 vs. other first-year transition teams.
  18. UND definitely avenged the loss to Seattle from a few weeks ago in which the Sioux blew a 5-point lead in the final minute. It would be interesting to know whether UND was ever in the picture for Salley (Guinn's high school teammate) when she was deciding where to transfer from Minnesota. She's a good player.
  19. IMO, this was UND's best win of the year. Seattle has beaten a number of established dI's this year, including Louisiana Tech, UC Irvine, Cal Poly, E. Washington and Loyola Marymount. Harrison, Harkins and Bledsoe all played very well tonight.
  20. Is it possible Roebuck was talking about Brittany Peterson, the Iowa guard who apparently committed right after the close of the early signing period? Since she couldn't actually sign a LOI until spring, Roebuck can't mention her by name (not that she'd sign if she's a walk-on). On the other hand, it's hard to believe she'd be a walk-on given her credentials.
  21. I'm guessing this is Kate Sharkova from Lake Region. She's listed at 6'5", and averages 15 points and 10 rebounds per game.
  22. The other alternative is simply to go without a traditional post. It worked pretty well for USD last season. In any event, I don't think there's much question that next year's fortunes are going to depend in large part on how much the freshmen are able to contribute. When you combine the losses of Kimbrough and Guinn, plus the uncertain status of Ledger, Privatsky and LaFrance, some of the freshmen will need to play pretty big roles immediately.
  23. If Ledger isn't ready to go by the start of next season, I wonder who would be the most likely to start in the post--Jenna Gillett, Shyla Kuehl or Katie Houdek?
  24. I haven't seen him on or behind the bench in some time. I didn't really think much of it, but with his apparently recent removal from the roster, it certainly appears that he's no longer on the team.
